Can we have an expansion now please?

By mazz0, in Sid Meier's Civilization: A New Dawn

Come on FFG, take my money!

I would also love an expansion!

What do you think they could add to the game? (besides new cards for everything)

I think they should add districts, maybe you could build them around your city, instead of control tokens, like in the computer game.

I would also love to see some sort of great people mechanic.

  • A lot more objective cards!!
  • 5th player option?

I’d buy one just for more tiles and cards, but new mechanics would be great. Districts certainly appeals!

What I’d really like is ways to shake things up so that a) it’s harder to know what victories people are aiming for, b) you aren’t all more or less compelled to go for the same victories, and c) you can specialise your civilization. More victory cards could help with this, especially if the conditions on each one weren’t as closely related as they are on the current ones (I also think it would be fun to play with a few more victory cards and let people choose which ones to complete, but that can be house ruled already). Perhaps a new mechanic that while it helps you in the direction of one victory condition hinders you in another.

oh this is my new favorite game. I do not think it needs an expansion except to add some variety and more players.

I would love to see a 6 player game.

Would love an expansion, friends and I love it but it may be getting a little too repetitive. Definitely some new wonders and civs would go a long way and potentially some new mechanics. War is great but it's way too in favor of the attacker especially for the military civs like Scythia and Aztecs. Some balancing would a long way.

I barely scratched the surface with this game and I already want an expansion! Definitely more cards, although new mechanics sound nice (but seriously, more cards!). :)

Same here, we got back to the old game just because new one feels very repetitive. Definitely needs expansion

Maybe more Tech options?

For instance, you could choose Iron Working level 2 military Tech or Mathematics level 2 military Tech, and they would do different things.

I had also thought about multiple techs at each lvl which would add variety. More of everything, especially wonders/victory conditions.

Could also be interesting: A hidden agenda for every player so that players either need to get 3 on the public ones or 2 on the public and 1 on their secret agenda (reveiled when completed)

5-6 player option seems a no-brainer, but I’m not sure what this would do for game length which I quite like at the moment.

Spy options (like switch adjacent cards in an opponent’s focus row, flip control to you on an unfortified token)

Recruiting Great People for various benefits, but would have to be different enough from wonders otherwise why bother?

Governments, civics, religion, governors, districts....when looking at Civ 6 there is a ton of expansion potential. The trick would be in finding what would actually add something meaningful to the game and not bog it down with too many options that don’t really enhance the gameplay experience.

Personally I don't think this game would benefit from an additional player - too much downtime between turns, game would run too long, board state and wonder options would likely change too much between turns. If you want to play with 6 buy another copy and play two 3-player games :-)

More techs and branching tech trees would be good. Additional victory condition cards would be excellent and some new Civs (Britain, India, China, Zulu please) and leaders would be interesting. Also some more land tiles for variety.

I would like to see extra players, including a Celtic or British (UK) player.

Also, space tech--satellites, space station, colonies, etc. Bring Civ into space.

I'd like to see Civilization specific tech cards, so the Scythians would have an alternate Military Age 1 card, the Americans would have an alternate Age 4 Science card. It'd make the tech cards a bit more unique, and give the Civilizations a bit more individuality, similar to how the later Civilization PC games have unique units and buildings replacements.

The original Civilization board game from FFG came out in November and in September the year after an expansion was out, so I'm hoping they will announce an expansion this summer or Gen Con for example for New Dawn.

I hope so!

Expansion, please

Fingers crossed for a GenCon announcement, it’s been awfully quiet since release :(

Do we know when the announcement would be if there was going to be one at Gen Con? Would we have had it by now?

It would have been in the InFlight report that FFG does each year. I actually haven't seen the entire thing this year (yet), but I also haven't heard any chatter, so I'm guessing we have more waiting to do :(

The silence is horrible. No announcement on Gen Con made me sad. Stop torturing us FFG! Take our money pls

I kinda hoped we’d have something by now! Fallout’s getting an expansion and a playmat!

For a lot of games I’m not that into expansions. A lot of times they’ll just muddy the experience with new mechanics. This game could really benefit from an expansion though and I will keep hoping that we’ll see one.....someday.

Agree with all of you completely! Anything at this point i'd love. I just want some sort of announcement about they are even playtesting expansions :P

Well fallout is getting an expansion, so maybe its civilization's turn :)

Do you think there still is a chance we will see an expansion? Or it means that if we haven't seen it until now the game didn't do well enough?
