Some units gain power for 'each unit you control' while some different units gain power for 'each OTHER unit you control'

Does the former gain a power for ITSELF as one of the units you control? So if it has a printed power of 1 (and has the text 'gains 1 power for each unit you control') and its the only unit you control, is it worth 2? Or have they just missed out the word 'other'?
