So I got into this game when i released 5 years ago...and walked away after a year or so... my question is... (yes I will get the new core), but what about the data packs? Are those still viable (the original data packs?) or are they releasing 2.0 data packs in the future, I guess I am concerned with new players coming into the game, while the new core set looks good, they still have a ton of data packs to catch up to...idk maybe I am just being cynical and want to recapture my youth from a few years ago LOL...

and one more note--- what is being cycled out? data packs wise?

Genesis and Spin Cycle have rotated out, and SanSan/Lunar will rotate out in a bit over a year or so.

No indication that anything other than the Core Set is being revised/updated.
