3x Togashi Kazue

I feel pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it is awesome and I have a lock on economy, or I'm just bowing everyone with Adept and have a good game. Otherwise I fall behind and have no way to catch up. Not sure if I should use Mono no Aware or Waning Hostilities to buy myself into the game.

I know the first bit of advice will probably be "MORE BANZAI! MORE CHARGE! MORE 0 COST!" but I want to find something viable that isn't just "Throw every aggressively costed thing at them". I can make a Lion deck for that.

A quick reply:

I think that you have too many Holdings. Don’t care for the Mountaintop Statuary myself, but ok.

You are missing a Fury and have 1 too many Censure.

Overall, my opinion is that Crab is not the *best splash. The 2 different versions of Dragon decks that I run splash Phoenix and Unicorn, both of which are worthwhile and allow me to play aggressively or as a counter puncher.

Hope this helps. ?

PS- A solid no on Waning Hostilities.

I find Fury quickly becoming a dead card as opponents will reveal my provinces ASAP. I had a mix of Voice and Censure before to great effect. So far though Censure has been less reliable than Voice was.

Crab lets me trigger Niten Adept and Master easily, Pathfinder blade let's me keep my lunch from being eaten by a host of provinces that want to take all my fate, or steal all my attachments, or honor them and dishonor me, and so on. Reprieve helps keep Sumiko, Yokuni, and so on around. Or even Enlightened Warrior for a turn that your opponent avoids picking a ring with Fate.

The Phoenix splash suggestion I see people make, but Against the Waves isn't very helpful, Display of Power can be but I also like to actually win on defense.

Unicorn I suppose is pretty typical, but Spyglass and what? I have seen Gaijin customs suggested, and I have seen steed used.

@Chron73 Interesring list. It seems that the Pathfinder’s Blade provides a good amount of utility in the deck, backed up with Reprieve. A very aggressive deck, IMO.

The lack of Favored Ground is interesting, as well as only 2 Charge! and only 2 Fury. But hey, if it’s working, go for it!

Am happy to see a variance of Dragon decks. ?

To add a bit of a write up...

The stars of the deck are Niten Master and Investigator/Yaruma, if you can get 1 of each towered you are set.

A lot of Dragon players are getting away from Daimyo's Favor, but being in a heavy Crab meta I love that I can use it for economy or to get Kisada's ability wasted.

Charge is great for multiple characters...Yaruma province shenanigans, a quick 4/4 Sumiko or any big personality when your opponent is about to break Feast. Also don't be afraid to use Charge on Niten Master if you have a hand full of weapons

Why Kabe instead of Imperial Palace?

Why Mendicant if you don't have anything that runs off of Monks?

And while I don't like Yaruma, using him to reset Public Forum does seem appropriately cruel :P

I don't usually need much help in getting the favor and I like the +3 that Kabe gives. Nothing in my deck really relies on the favor. Sure it's nice to have with Sumiko, but she's not worthless without it. If I was running Censure or other cards that depended on it, that would be a no-brainer.

Mendicant just for a cheap body that also lets me peek at what's coming up in my Dynasty deck. Running a lot of 4 and 5 cost characters, I'd rather have a 1 cost, than a 2 in this slot. Also, where I'm not counting on the favor I chose him over Courtier or Guardsmen. Also he's nice to have if you have Charge in hand as you can have a little bit of control as to what's coming up in your provinces.

I wasn't keen on Yaruma at first, but his ability can be quite nasty. I also use him as it gets me a second option other than Investigator for a Political tower. With my playstyle, I've found I do much better building 2 Voltrons...one military using Niten or Raitsugu, and one political using Investigator or Yaruma. Yokuni and Sumiko can be used as either.
