Scum VP Manipulation

By aermet69, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I played this list in a regional in Copenhagen, Denmark today. Can't say I placed well, but was my first tournament and I won one game easily on Nal Hutta, raining freight. I lost the first game on Jabba's Palace (control mission) by 1 VP and 3 small things could have turned this into a win: C-3PO not dodging twice against Bossk, My Pick Pocket coming up at 2 or better instead of 1 (3/6 chances) OR Black Market at the very end of the game hitting one of the 2 point cards left in my deck (2/4 chances). Any of those would have won me the game. Both of these games were against different variants of Rebel Rangers.

I played Anchorhead Bar (line of fire) against a Vader + Emp and Jet Troopers. I've only played the map once and only the other mission. That fact that it was very hard to get any mission points on this probably cost me the game. I ended at 39 points but had only Jabba and C-3PO left (no attackers) and had Pick Pocket in hand - my only hope being Vader failing against Jabba and Jabba pick pocketing Vader :)

It was a very fun list that can amass a lot of VPs outside of killing through Jabba, Celebration, Pick Pocket, Price On Their Head and Black Market as well as Of No Importance. If you can take some mission VPs, you absolutely can leave a guy like Vader alone and still hit 40 before time (as I almost did in that game). You have the hunter firepower combined with the tricks of manipulating VPs in both giving yourself and taking away from your opponent. The combination of Onar and Chopper allowed me a lot of battlefield control pushing people away from objectives or as in the game against Vader pushing my own figure away from a double-moved Vader rendering the follow-up Emperor-attack useless.

I liked Bossk. I used his grenade a lot of finish off figures and put the hurt on Threepio, but the 9 points in him + Prey could probably be used for something else if you wanted to. Not sure what though, but those are flexible points for sure. The rest is hard to change for this.

Does "Of no Importance" still work following the errata of points scoring which is based on figure and not deployment card? I assumed it's a dead card, but am I wrong?

I'm fairly certain it recieved an errata to work on figure cost instead.

“Of No Importance” should read: “Use after the last figure in one of your non-unique groups is defeated. That figure is worth 2 fewer VPs, to a minimum of 0."

I did play this wrong though, and used it on the first dead Weequay. Gotta remember that in the future!

Aww man! Well that's still a great card then! Glad you posted and glad I asked! So I can see what you mean about mercenaries and VPs.

Pickpocket is disgustingly underrated. Even if you only roll a 1 on the green die, you still shift the score by 2 points! And if you're lucky enough to roll a 3? Well then, I'll take a 6 point shift in VPs for next to nothing.

Yeah. The fact that it's not even an action is crazy. Game 1 I moved an eWeequay up adjacent to his near-dead Ranger. Pickpocketed him (rolled the miserable 1) and then shot him and moved back to C-3PO. That activation scored me 6 points and -1 point for him - and that was even the worst possible result.

Might I recommend the command card black market prices and the upgrade black market?

The upgrade is there. I wanted as few 1 pointers as possible, as those are the worst to reveal with Black Market. So I went with planning instead to grab it for free. Also, once you have you high-cost cards in hand you almost always would rather play them.
