Star Wars: Kings of Nar Shaddaa (IC)

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

Giz, being a tracker and spotter, strategically parked his speeder truck he had named Smog, an A-A5m response vehicle that he just had time to install some new attachments for. Giz jumps out of the speeder truck and instantly starts following a trail for his bounty hunter buddies, Grimyl and Snare, when he hears his name being called. When he turns around, he sees Jace.

Thinking about all the memories, he says, " Jaaacce how have you been? What are you doing here? Have you heard or seen from any one else from the old gang? " he said without pause excitedly. It was forever since he had seen his good friend Jace from his childhood.

"It's been good, Giz. Haven't seen you in a long time. Got involved in the Clone Wars after a job went bad. Right now, I'm here on...business." Jace says. It would take a long time telling Giz everything. That could be saved for later.

"Meanwhile, I met up with Re'peek and Leto. Remember Tucker? They're trying to find his couriers. Wonder if you knew about that."

Giz replies without pause, "Tucker?Tucker?Tucker? Bowchickabowow? That Tucker!? I think one of his contacts is a Weequay thug nam...Wait do you smell that?"

Giz started thinking to himself; Ahh poodoo, my target!

"Ah oh well. Right! The other thugs call him Vibroface. He hangs out at a bar a few blocks over. I can take you there in my speeder truck, if you want."

Re'peek doesn't go out in the morning, because he firmly believes that no day should include two 7oclocks in the same day. After waking up around noon, he goes out and begins to do some snooping. He walks around, just thinking about the nature of things in this part of Nar Shaddaa. If they are running shipments around here, they will need a good site for cargo storage between deliveries, and also with enough space to house the equipment discreetly.

He makes his way into the warehouse district, and he notices a regular flow of transport vehicles out of the area, significantly lacking in markings of any kind. Given how slowly they were accelerating as they climbed, they were clearly carrying some big loads. That was likely them. He didn't risk getting much closer this early in the game, so he heads back to let the others know what he had found.

"Looks like you got someone. All right, I'm in." Jace said. He gets in the speeder truck on the passenger's seat. "So, Giz, what have you been up to, besides driving this truck?"

Giz climbs into the speeder truck and says, "I've been helping my family pay the bills by working in the factory with them, also I'm a tracker and spotter for my bounty hunter friends. We usually split the money in three ways when we've caught whoever we are after. Oh! We're here! Welcome to the Dead-End Bar!

Giz snorts a small laugh at the name grimly. He jumps out of the speeder truck and added, "Oh! And don't stare...at any of it."

Hetaera has no engagements scheduled for the evening, so she decides to take some time for herself. She is dressed casually, in leggings and a short tunic dress, beneath a rather more flamboyant cloak. Her makeup is.. more subdued than usual, but still a bit more garish than the norm, even for the club. Tonight, she will dance.. however she pleases.

Usshkr would be by, to escort her home, later. Probably just behind me, actually.. She had found the Trandoshan in an alley, deep in the bowels of the city. She had seen the huge lizard-man on the ground, and thought to take advantage; upon closer inspection, she was certain it was one of the many corpses, that turn up on any given night. Rifling through his scant possessions, she was startled, as he tried unsuccessfully to speak.

Against her better judgement, she summoned a ride, and took him to a doctor she had.. well, a professional relationship with..

As it turns out, the whole Life Debt story really is a thing! He had been following her around, ever since.. which solved her ever-present security issue, which had had her looking over her shoulder, since she had regained her freedom.

Approaching the entrance to the Sound , she smiles brightly at the bouncers, and they wave her in. The pulsing lights and bass speak to her body, and she sheds her cloak.. and her leggings.. and makes her way to the dance floor. Weaving sinuously through the already bustling crowd, she begins to sway, and the tips of her lekku start to undulate. She is in her element.

HU-1K walks out of the garage and onto the streets after he gathers his bearings he walks away from the building after mentally dropping a beacon where it was in his internal GPS. He heads to one of his old stomping grounds: The Interstellar a old bar that was actually a cage fighting arena in the back.

“This unit wishes to order the caged Efennia special.” HU-1K tells the bartender, using the code needed to get into the fighting area. The bartender points to a booth in the back and once HU-1K closes its door behind him, the room rotates. After he steps off, the room rotates back to its normal position. He then walks to a kiosk, “This unit would like to fight and pulverize this unit’s competition for the sake of this unit’s enjoyment.” HU-1K tells the fight manager, “This unit’s designation is HU-1K, and this unit has engaged in combat here before.” HU-1K is waved through to a elevator where he is taken down below. He then waits for his turn to fight.

Usshkr followed behind Hetaera as she made her way across Nar Shaada to go dancing. That's all this girl seemed to do, go to one bar or another and dance, at this rate he would never reclaim his score.

It had been months and there was still no sign of the Wookiee. The damned walking carpet snuck up on Usshkr about 4 months ago and tried to kill him, reducing his score back to zero for disgracing the Scorekeeper, no self respecting Trandoshan loses to a Wookiee.

But he did not die Disgraced, he lived thanks to the intervention of the small Twilek Woman. She is a nice girl but of all the people on Nar Shadaa to owe a Life debt to he got a dancer instead of a Bounty Hunter or someone who at least had a hit list.

Spying Hetaera enter a Club he approached the Bouncers. While the good looking and charming Twilek entered the club with no hassle, the Large gruff looking Lizard had to growl past them. Once he got past, found Hetaera and sat in a booth looking directly to the dance floor looking straight at his charge.

As he night progressed, Leto would be at the bar helping out when she notices the off world Sakiyan ladies he invited are chatting amongst themselves nearby. Noting how stylish they scaled up for the night, he thought " They're probably a Pride judging by their similar light grey skin tones. This could go well, unless their agents for the authority. Lets hope for stylish bounty hunters. Bounty hunters I can deal with. Might as well spend the reward here... ".

Leto preps three 'Saki Chases' for each of the lovely ladies on the counter and motions them over to the bar. " I'm glad you came. Thank you for sophisticating up our club ladies with your presence. These drinks are exclusively on the house for you all. I trust your enjoying the Nar Shaddaa experience here at Sound Investments? " he says slightly bobbing his head to the music.

After a response Leto motions over the Quermian bartender " This talented mixologist is Mick. I have to see to operations but, he'll set you ladies up with your next round. Thanks, Mick ". he says with a grin. Leto moves to the main dance floor to observe how pristine and clear its condition was. He watch the crowd move as a dancefleet orbital bombardment upon the neon purple planetoid floor. It was at this moment he accidentally locked eye contact with a pale lavender Twi'lek lost into the music.

While a moment of admiration had occurred, the human does his best to avoid cute head tail girls. Yes, their allure has an obvious appeal but it doesn't out weigh the trouble that follows. The human smiles at the Twi'lek and points at DJ H0-U5. " He's really talented " he says hoping to dissolve any awkwardness from the moment.

Jex wasn't much for the streets of Nar Shaddaa. You never knew where the next vibro-knife was around the next corner, and he hadn't yet learned how to be fully comfortable making his way around.

But, his time in the outer rim hadn't left him completely unprepared for dealing with the less-savory aspects of the galaxy. And when someone wanted information, it always lead back to one place above all others. Ironically, it just so happened to also be the place where the booze flowed just as freely as mouths: The Cantina. Specifically, a rather dangerous establishment called "Kusari's Den".

He'd caught wind of someone that might be able to help him figure out who this Tuckers most noteworthy customers and other connections were, specifically Patrons. Even he could guess that a nameless gang didn't run guns without having someone more influential then them supplying some work.

It would help him get a better idea of not only the one they were robbing, but more importantly who he sold to. It was likely it was nobody else important, or perhaps he had fingers in various pies on the planet, yet knowing other customers never hurt. If for no other reason then supplying his newfound comrades with some potential future 'targets'.

Even if it was just to get a better feel for the planets power structure, he also had a final reason: He wanted to be absolutely sure that by robbing Tucker, they weren't going to bring down some angry crime lord on their heads eager to get their produce back.

"I'm looking for Archangel." He asked the older Mirialan woman, who he could only assume was the titular "Kusari", that simply nodded her head at the back of the bar with a grunt.

"Left corner booth."

With a nod, Jex made his way over, glancing around as he approached the information broker.

"I'll keep that in mind." Jace said as he made sure that his light blaster pistol was ready at a moment's notice. It was the second bar he'd been to in...well, a day. This time, it would be best if he was prepared.

"Anyway, you said you're a tracker and spotter? Hmm, that'd be useful. Leto and Re'peek are trying to get the old gang back and we need your skills, Giz."

The human smiles at the Twi'lek and points at DJ H0-U5. " He's really talented " he says hoping to dissolve any awkwardness from the moment.

Usshkr noticed as a Human approached Hetaera, slender, dressed like trouble and looked like it too. He was about the same size of his small Twi'lek charge so probably no match in a fight. The boy seemed to be infatuated with her and he had a drink in his hand, ' I won't get many points for beating this whelp to a pulp, but it's a start' he thought to himself. Usshkr got up from his booth and made his way to Hetaera and her new "friend". Sneaking up on a Human is easy especially in dark lighting and with obnoxiously loud music pouring out of every speaker. Why his charge liked these places he couldn't tell, a nice cantina would at least have tasteful music at a normal volume and the drinks weren't expensive piss. When he was right behind the Human he crossed his arms and locked eyes with Hetaera, waiting for the signal to beat the crap out of this guy.

Hetaera's eyes meet those of a human nearby. She is quite used to the eyes of men upon her, but she senses his appraisal of her is somehow different than the usual. Still dancing, with her arms in the air, she permits the corners of her mouth to quirk into a smile. His lips move, but his words are drowned out by the pulsing beats of the club. And.. Here comes Usshkr..

"There is a Big Lizard behind you!" she replies, wondering if the young man with the perfect hair can read lips..

Making eye contact with the Trandoshan, she shakes her head, to his obvious displeasure.

As the Twi’lek twirls about on the dance floor she mutters something to the effect ‘There is a big wizard behind you’. Convinced the dancer is spiced out of her head tails, he simply nods and turns to back to work when the notices the Trandoshan.

Leto thinks “ and here is the trouble that follows... I really should get HU-1K a job here for times like this ”. He looks at the Trandoshan wizard and says “ Are you here for DJ H0-U5 too? ”. Smiling, Leto starts dance pogo’in near the Trandoshan’s height and fist pumps energetically into the air hoping he inspires it to feel the song. “ Yeeeaaahh! WooOoo!!! ” he cheers.

Usshkr looks down narrowing his eyes at the Human making a fool of himself before him and really wished that Hetaera had given the "Pummel to an inch of his life" order. " Asss you wissssh." Usshkr said as he kept eyes on the kid. Then bringing his eyes back to Hetaera, h e sighs disappointed that the the girl never lets him beat anything senseless and leaves going back to his hole in the wall to keep eye on the girl.

Hetaera continues to dance, for an hour or so, but she cannot truly enjoy herself with Usshkr sulking alone at the table. I know the ennui of servitude, of awaiting your master's whim..

I have just the thing! The night is young..

"Come on, Usshkr!" she says, leaning in close, so he can hear. Pulling on her leggings, she steps back into her shoes and grabs her cloak. "Another club, but I need to stop home first."

Knowing he would be following closely in her wake, she heads for the exit. On the way, she passes the debonair man who had spoken to her earlier, as he circulates about the room. Meeting his eyes again, closer this time, she motions toward the resident droid deejay. "He is quite good. Seamless slip-cueing and beatmatching.. I was out there for an hour, and the sound never lost its momentum." She understands dance music, and can appreciate the skill involved. "He truly is an artist.. I'm Hetaera."

Usshkr watched Hetaera dance like a Hunter stalking his mark, his eyes unwavering, tracking movement around her making sure no one would come to close to her, as part of the life debt he was to keep her from harm and because she saved him from the brink of death it would be very hard for him to come close to repaying the life debt to her. Even though Hetaera wasn't a Bounty Hunter and probably wouldn't get him much score, he could have had owed a life debt to someone who wasn't anywhere near as compassionate.

" I follow." He said as she told him of her plans, why she had to stop at every club in town he didn't know, but on their way to exit it was clear that she would be passing by the foolish Human, the boy was a strange little man and it seems Hetaera had taken a liking to him. "He sssmellss like trouble... I know hisss type... Ssmuggler. Look at his belt and you'll notisse the Blaster." Usshkr would whisper into her ear before they got to the strange human.

After the Trandoshan left to sit back down, Leto returned back to club operations. He knew it would be ideal to acquire some information on Tucker's employment but the guests had other plans. Leto was stuck listening to an offworld Toydarian belligerently tell him how grand the orbital nightclubs over at Sleheyron were. The poor human eyes would shift to watch the club's own holographic motion art. The club strategically placed holographic motion projections of various life sized humanoid silhouette dancers around the outer edges. Leto was observing a drunk Sullustan fully dance with one of the holographic silhouettes.

As Leto turned back to the conversation, he unintentionally locks eyes with the pale lavender Twi'lek dancer again. " Excuse me " he said to the Toydarian guest. By making himself available the Twi'lek, she was fast to kindly compliment the Sound Investments' resident music producer. " Thank you, H0-U5 is a resident favorite amongst the mid level. You're quite the dancefloor enthusiast yourself " he says noticing the Trandoshan wizard by her side. The tall Trandoshan appeared to be the actual type Leto wanted to chat with for the night and see if it acquired any hearsay of the nameless courier on the streets.

" Hey, have I seen either of you with Lavernius Tucker before? A friend of mine is back in the district and has been asking particulars but I hadn't kept up with him since childhood " he curiously questions. If they knew anything about Tucker, he would obviously stick out in their minds unpleasantly.

"He's no trouble for us," she tells her overzealous guardian. This human is like me. It is his job to make sure everyone is having a good time.

"Tucker.. I don't think so..?"

Usshkr narrowed his eyes at the Human before him " I know him, Punk kid. Wearsss hiss hair like you, but itss flasshy. Thinks he knowss it all." He stands between the human and Hetaera " Who'ss asssking?"

Edited by Shlambate

Bingo, it certainly seems as if this Trandoshan knows Tucker. Although Leto did not like his hair being compared to that punk, he continued " Yeah, are you friends? My buddy Desperado recently came back into the sector and didn't know how to get in contact with him. I mentioned that I hadn't kept touch but I heard he worked for a courier service of sorts. Are you familiar with where he works? " trying not to be pushy.

" He'ss no friend. I barely know him." He snorts trying to appear as big as possible to scare the boy " I was oncce hired musscle for them. I haven't heard back from them in monthsss." Usshkr looks visbly uncomfortable as he is suspicious of all the questions. He backs up to be next to Hetaera, "I knew he wass trouble..." He whispers again. "Let'sss go."

"My security detail, here, has an overly suspicious mind. It's part of his job, to be paranoid about strangers, who ask too many questions.." This could be a lead to the Wookiee..

Hetaera reaches into a pocket of her cloak, and produces a business card, which she hands to the man. A quick glance reveals a tasteful photo, and a list of her talents:

Either this human was not their enemy and meant no harm by his posture and his still lack of drawing his weapon or he had a trap set and was confident he was more than safe, Usshkr didn't want to bother finding out which but he could not leave Hetaera alone if she stayed he stayed. "I Doubt if he knowsss of the wookiee that he is friendly to me or you..." He continues to whisper by her side, "But if you wissh to quessstion him I will sstay." He stands to his full height and crosses his arms waiting for a fight to break loose or for Hetaera to come to her senses and leave.
