First Warhammer Campaign - which way to go?

By player360161, in WFRP Gamemasters

I'm about to start my first WFRP3 group, and I would like your advice since I'm new to the Warhammer world. My idea is to run the players through Eye for an Eye, and follow it with Terror in Talabheim. I choose Talabheim, cause it is one of the few adventures I saw where the plot isn't chaos-driven (and there's an open war!!! Plenty of oportunities of glory/death for the characters).

But then I read about The Enemy Within. And I read the first instalment and thought it was great. Is there a way to run TEW and Talabheim simultaneously? If not, which one should I run first? Or should I forget completely about any of these campaigns and choose another completely different?

PS: Sorry for any bad spelling/grammar. English isn't my native language.

Unfortunately I haven't read Enemy Within, but terror in Talabheim seems to me to be a good adventure (I've only read it) and as you say its a nice diversion from chaos.

Perhaps you can link the Aschaffenberg family to Talabheim and draw the PC's there by making them have to report to the family head. Or something.

I'd recommend Shadows over Bogenhafen (if that's the one you mean). It's the classic WFRP adventure and includes a lot of the iconic and persistent and themes typical of WFRP. If you do continue it to Death on the Reik, then that will bring plenty of opportunity to get into Terror in Talabheim, even if it might not go down in Talabheim, there are plenty of other places in DotR where you could run it.

I'd start with A day late ,a schilling short, followed by an Eye for an Eye, and then hopefully the Gathering Storm campaign should be out, about the end of March. If you need more adventures before the campaign comes out, there are The Ghost of Mondstile, False Pretenses, and a Shadow Falls, three fan adventures on this forum. All these are V3 adventures that can be run without conversion.

I love both of them. *** is one of my favorite adventrue type. I love the bad situation, need to gather resources and develop resistance to fight off a greater foe (Volturnus-Star Frontiers, Days of Future Past-Marvel Universe).

Anyway I would combine both of them and play out like this.

  • Mistaken Identify
  • Shadows over Bogenhafen
  • Death On the Reik
  • Somewhere in DoTR they get to Talabheim and you complete ***, back to finish DoTr
  • Power Behind the Throne

Another Option is

  • Mistaken Idnetiy
  • SoB
  • DoTR
  • PBtT
  • ***

In this case you use them going to Talabheim and doing that long adventure for them to be "away from the Empire" for a while. This fits fine as their is reason not to send ad to Talabheim (civil war gear up), the players are isolated from the general degradation of the empire so when they finsihed you can go right into empire at war/empire in flames to conclude the TeW.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll keep you posted on the developments...

If you want to run TEW and *** I would recomment giving the players a year off in Talabheim instead of Kislev. Or you could do a bit of worl and let *** be foreshadowing the events in TEW.

I played *** as a player and we have done all kinds of things that were not in the adventure and did nothing planned by the book. If you have not a lot of experience as a game master that can be a little hard on you when you.
