A company willing to listen and respond to their customers. What kind of madness is this? :P

For EA I'm sure they had to hire an entire department. It's never been done before.

How many downvotes did that thread end up with, anyway?

Honestly I don't even know.

Wait. EA is actually responding to community input and then taking it one step further by inviting it to a AMA with the development team?

FFG please take notice of this....

Well the story was intetesting.

If anybody wants info on it, pm so i can avoid spoilers

Fixed above.

At least i didnt go into gory detail

Hey, apparently you can fight the AI in matches! I assume similar to the Instant Action in the Original BF II (can anyone verify that?)! I may actually purchase this after all.

I would suggest you too fix your post. . .

There is an arcade mode, with split screen options for consoles.

I don't think its as deep.as the mulitplayer, but i haven't looked into it yet. Dived into the campaign first

That's what I read about, but other than 'fight AI bots in various scenarios' I know nothing about it.

If you are able/willing, would you mind telling me a bit about it? Is it only one type of match, or can you do Capture the Flag, Conquest, and Deathmatch? Are Hero fights included? What about Space Action? Can you play the AI in all of those? Are all the maps available?

Thank you very much!

Arcade: solo, co-op, versus.

There are battle scenarios, custom arcade and turorial.

In custom, 2 modes, team battle and onslaught. Various options after that, but seems to be just death match styles of play.

Lots of various scenarios and all based on playing as heroes/ elites.

Tutorial is pretty self explanatory

Thank you! Just a few questions:

Battle Scenarios are like objective play? Capture certain points etc? Custom is only DM?

'Lots of various scenarios and all based on playing as heroes/ elites.' - I assume that Arcade is not entirely limited to hero battles, and that this is referring to a subsection?

I'm at work for another 2 and 1/2 hours...

zgON7_s-200x150.gif

Been playing the single player campaign.

Controls for soldiers/troopers/heroes is pretty good.

Starfighter control is a bit hinky....especially if I had to play on my PS TV. On PS TV it was horrible.

Story is really good. Designed to emulate Rogue One in style...and they've done a bang up job with that.

Overall though, I am glad I got this game. Been waiting on something like this for years since the original Battlefront and Battlefront II on PS2. :)

Last I check it was -600K

One more thing I forgot to mention..... I haven't watched the game credits yet. I usually don't do that until I've beaten a game, but the voice acting is exceptional.

And whomever they've hired for soundalikes for some of the more iconic characters (Han and Leia), they do a bang up job. Sometimes, you would almost swear it was Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher (RIP) respectively. But then you can hear the discrepancies, but they are minimal at best. It does sound like they at least managed to get Billie Dee Williams as Lando, and the actress who played Maz in The Force Awakens to reprise their roles.

I'm really enjoying this story. It feels as if I am playing in the middle of a Star Wars movie.... a standalone like Rogue One.

Well, bait and switch seems to be another practice.

The trailers for the campaign in this game suggested that you were an Imperial spec force trooper all the way up to the First Order.

The trailers were highly misleading.

Good story. Fun campaign. Just don't expect what the campaign trailer told us.

And they definitely need to work on the starfighter controls. I loved how the starfighters handled in the VR add on for the first Battlefront....so kudos to the developers of that add on. I wish they had handled starfighter combat for this game.

I'll give it a rating of 4 out of 5.

And I wouldn't recommend it for anyone.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree. Heavily. COMPLETELY.

The last games starfighter controls were TOO oversimplified. I have never played a game where starfighters have 0% control over their roll.

If you wanna change the settings for starfighters go into the setting and turn off player controlled roll, it'll fly just like the last game.

The improvements to starfighter battles are a godsend. Better health mechanics, better maneuvering, better targeting, better abilities, straight up, starfighter mode is 1000% better.

The starfighter controls are kind of awful. The craft rolls when you only give it a yaw input. It is very "twitchy."Roll is far too sensitive. It feels like there is some sort of disconnect between the ship and the cursor and the controls. You don't get a radar of any sort.

I'm on PS4 and thing the star cards should be on the d-pad and R1/L1 should be throttle up/down.

I will give them credit for the "aim here" reticles on enemies that are usually a trail indicator connected to your craft. It greatly helps in determining what direction the enemies are going which can often be an issue in these games.

The game keeps trying to keep "up" when there isn't an "up." There isn't ground like with a plane. When I roll the craft I should be rolling the entire environment.

I had to turn off all the advanced flight controls. The whole advanced flight was crossing my wires something awful.

Go into the settings and turn down the sensitivity, I'm at about 38% and the fighters fly smooth, also see below

There's a settings toggle for this, turn it off. Not only will it stop trying to orient to "ground" it will make the roll 1000% less "twitchy"

Makes maneuvering a real joy

Last I check the Reddit response to the grinding or pay for characters model had over -500000. Wich is alot, alot allot. If the gaming community could set EA on fire through sheer hate alone, they would have done it by now lol.

I started out with all the advanced controls.

What do you do with that horrible yaw wobble? That's where I'm getting really crossed up. I keep getting the "wrong" feedback from my control inputs. I constantly don't know which flying system I'm using. Also the yaw inputs are pretty much only at 0 degrees and 180 degrees. At 179.9 and 180.1 degrees for example you get no yaw. You can't change throttle while making other control inputs no matter which control scheme or stick layout you choose.

So I'm on the one hand trying to fly like in a Battlefield game. On the other with throttle on the stick and the animations I'm trying to fly like Battlefront 2015. When I want to both roll and yaw I overcompensate because yaw makes you roll. I just chucked it all and went with the controls from Battlefront 2015 which should get me through the campaign for the time being. I may or may not take what will likely be a considerable time and frustration to re-wire for the advanced system in this game. My modest pilot skills for Battlefield 3 & 4 and a couple of other flight games were difficultly earned.

One of the other things is that dodging lockon weapons is tied in with the new controls. So it is get blown up cause I can't make the plane go where I want it to go or get blown up because I've had to handicap the control scheme. I'm sure there will also be a mess as I believe that some of the starfighter stuff happens in atmosphere with a traditional "up" and "down."

I'm glad you're enjoying the system.

How does it compare to the old BFII (my only point of reference)? Can you change which controls are for what (like the y-axis, where pressing DOWN made you go UP)? I take it you cannot change sensitivity of the controls?
