Star Wars: Revan's War IC

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

Raithe looks around the room. She instinctively, out of habit, begins to search for Sith artifacts, then instantly remembers why they were there, and switches back on track. She then scans the room for clues to where the suspect may have gone, if he'll be back, and his intentions for leaving.

As Ryff calls out into the cluttered room there would be a sudden movement to the parties left. What had looks like a table covered in carpets suddenly lept up as the silhouette of a figure struggled to their feet. After a moment of rustling and panting the carpet to shifted to reveal a middle aged devaronian underneath. This must be the admiral they were looking for, admiral Ovitom. Unlike Saul Karath, he does not have the appearence of an admiral, or a member of the military for that matter. Although he is tall and muscular, he hunches slightly and seems to lack the iron discipline expected of an officer of this rank. He wears an open necked white shirt that is only partially tucked in, and though his trousers and boots are part of his uniform, the jacket and hat are missing. Ovitom seems to have a couple of tatoo's on his neck that run down beneath the shirt, but what they are is tricky to say as he quickly straightens his clothing out.

'Ah, jedi!' he would declare in a soft drawl as he makes his way towards the desk, taking great strides to avoid the clutter on the floor. 'I thought you were arriving this evening' he'd say, tapping a few buttons on a holo-pad he retrieves. He seems to read it for a moment with a look of confusion before glancing back up. 'Huh, well no matter, you're here now'. With that he would toss the datapad over his should, missing the desk by a few inches though he doesn't react to the clatter it makes. 'So, I guess you want to talk to me about the Foerost deal huh? Make sure I wasn't behind it and all that?'

' Disorganized and can't let go of things... Definitely .I wonder if this behavior prevented his entry to the Order or developed after.' He thinks as he observes the admiral get up from the floor and compose himself, he is not impressed by the Admiral's slouched posture. " I am, Kazz'Oro'Kuruozo, you may call me Zoroku, these are my compatriots and fellow investigators Raithe and Ryff." Zoroku introduces the the rest of his group. " They are experienced Investigators and I was personally there at the station during the attack. We hope to be able to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible."

'Sure thing Zoro' the admiral would continue in the soft drawl that seemed to be a part of his regular speech patter. He would clear some space on his seat before forcing himself down behind the desk, straightening up a little as he rests his elbows on the cluttered surface. 'You were at the attack huh? Whew that must have been something to see, I'm still reading the reports myself'. He would glance between the jedi before speaking again. 'Well, you folks are the investigators, what do you want to ask me?'

As he talks Raithe would spot a little something tucked under a pile of clutter on a table near her left. It looked like a stone statue, not much longer than forearm, and a similar width as well. It looked like a faceless man stood to attention with a sword held upright, maybe a lightsaber even. However the statue is badly worn with age and it is very tricky to make out any real detail other than its outline.

Raithes fixes Ovitom with her best stone-faced investigator look, "First of all, what were you doing underneath the carpet?"

'Preparing an ambush' the admiral would respond immediately in a sarcastic tone. 'I was sleeping. I was up most o' the night working with the department of astrogation'.

So this is Admiral Karath..

"Sir. I have not been programmed to mince words, so let us begin. Your security clearance has earned you a place on a very short list of potential.. suspects. The Foerost incident. Your history with Revan has also been brought up, in light of recent events, placing you squarely at the top of the list." Kai-wan observes the Admiral for any sign of reaction to the accusations against him. A slightest hint of righteous indignation, perhaps?

"You know we have to question you, as well as the others, of course. It is a delicate task, bringing such charges against the upper echelons of the Republic's Admiralty.. a respected, decorated veteran.. but here we are. The hope, of course, is that you have not been complicit in the recent attack. But a man in your position must also answer for his subordinates. I will require a list of any Aides who may have had access to your codes. You must also allow unfettered access to all of your computers."

"Before we proceed, would you care to issue a statement regarding the events in question?"

Well, someone woke up on the wrong side of the floor this morning. Raithe notes inside her head. She then shrugs as they continue on with the investigation.

Karath would glance from the droid to the others, and then back again. 'Why would the time I served with Revan be relevant in this investigation? Officially he was declared dead over a year ago after disappearing into the unknown regions'.

Responding to the other questions with the ever calm and professional tone. 'Only a couple of my most trusted officers are given access to the codes. Of course I will provide you with their names, but as I suspect you already know, you will not have total access to my computers, or the computers of the other admirals. As jedi you only have access to documents and files relevant to Foerost. The rest of the computers will be analysed by the military investigators'. With that said he would sit quietly, fingers steepled in front of him.

'As for the statement you asked for; assuming the time of the attack in the report is accurate, I was here in the office. I have several witnesses who can corroborate that'.

Ovitom would squint at Raithe slightly as he sets to work clearing his desk further. 'So, how's this going to work? You guys grill me about my loyalty to the republic, stuff like that?'

"This isn't personal. We just need to know what you were doing and where. Remember, we aren't here to insult you,we just need to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible." Ryff doing his best to be polite, also added, "Also, if there is anyone who can confirm you story please create a list of name and where they can be found at a given time. This will make the investigation run smooth as possible."

'Well, like I say, I were up all night working with the astrogation lot. I've been planning another expedition, and that kind of stuff takes a lot of time and effort see? Those fellows down at the department are up at all sorts of weird hours, so I was trying to work with them while trying to stay awake'. Ovitom would lean back in his chair leisurely, arms held behind his head. He cracks a grin as he continues. 'I can give you the name o' the guy I was talking to. Gogirg Bollull. An ithorian in the astrogation department. He should be able to confirm it'.

In the other room Admiral Karath would look up at the door of his room with confusion. From beyond the door there is the sound of crashing and shouting. A moment later the doors fly open and a bearded man in a republic uniform storms into the room. The man wore a black goatee and had dark brown hair swept back over his head.

'This is an outrage!' the man would shout as he storms into the room, jabbing a finger in the jedi's direction. 'You have no right to be here, questioning this man! He is a war hero, he saved the republic!'

The man would be about to continue Karath would hold up a hand, silencing. 'Thank you captain Onasi, but that will do. The jedi are here in behalf of the senate' he would state in a raised voice.

Ryff pondering how to phrase his next question finally asks, "Have you given your security codes to anyone, and if so; who?" As soon as Ryff asked that, he hoped he wouldn't take it the wrong way.

The admiral would sigh as he considers the question. 'Nope, not that I can think of. I didn't have much to do with the station see, so never had need of the codes'. He'd lean forwards over the desk as he speaks a little quieter. 'Between you me, I don't really have much to do with the other admirals and all their business. I don't think they think very highly of me if I'm honest'. Despite this he doesn't sound particularly upset, just stating what he sees as fact.

"ALRIGHT! CUT THE ****! We know someone had the codes for the station, only you guys have them. If none of you gave them out who was it!? The Jedi been hanging round here lately!? Who was it!? Someone from the council!? A Master!? Your *** is on the line here, jerk! You better start talking!"

What may have appeared as Muu momentarily pausing just before the arrival of Captain Onasi and the Oola outburst was actually the Iktotchi's precognitive abilities rapidly navigating through multiple scenarios. Standing by Oola's side, as she begins her own set of unique interrogation methods, Muu centers himself internally reaching out through the Force. Attempting to magnify his aura's presence through concentration, he attempts to extend his peace outwardly. Grinning, " Varn certainly makes some great cafe " Muu shares, generating a slight pause to allow everybody a moment of self-reflection. " Its easy to be very passionate about this particular investigation. Admiral Karath, yes, thank you for allowing us further access to your records " he states, nodding to both to Karath & Onasi, by acknowledging their cooperation. Turning towards Kai-wan, " Inspector " Muu calmly says, sweeping his hand in the droid's general direction, as if indicting the discussion is back under its jurisdiction.

"What can you tell me of the other admirals under suspicion?" Zoroku would ask Ovitom. " I would like your opinion on them and if you knew where they might have been during the early morning on Forest station. Spare no detail."

"Also, what is your honest opinion of the Mandalorian Wars? How do you feel about the post-Mandalorian War peace time? In an ideal galaxy, how would you have had the Navy proceed differently?" Raithe adds.

Raithe knew that these questions were off-topic, but she wanted to know which side Ovitom was truly on. Even if he didn't end up being the perpetrator for this particular incident, Raithe wanted to make sure that he wasn't going to be a potential threat in the future.

Admiral Karath would visibly tense behind his desk as Oola lets loose her barrage, but would not respond immediately to it. Onasi would open his mouth as he goes to round on the padawan, but the admiral brings a hand down on the desk with a sharp bang. 'Enough' he would snap, directing a steely glare at his subordinate, silencing him before he can aggravate the situation.

'The young gentleman here is right. This is a stressful time for us all. A serious blow has been struck against the republic, and though we will recover, it can only be a sign of what is to come. Perhaps this interview should continue when cooler heads can prevail'. With that he would move to stand, tugging his uniforms hem to straighten it from where he had sat. 'When officer Varn and his technicians have finished investigating the computer systems, I will see to it you are furnished with a copy of my records' he would say cordially. That would seem to explain why the officer had not been present in either of the interviews so far.

In the other room Ovtiom would glance between the two padawans as they talk. 'Woah you fella's have a lot of questions huh. Can't tell you much really, none of them are that sociable, not the kind to invite you for drinks after work if you see what I mean. Karath's alright, bit of a stuffed shirt but his crews. Bric, can't stand the guy. He's not a bad guy, not really, he's just so loud and on it all the time. You can tell he was infantry before he got this gig, I can tell you that. I get on pretty well with Ratchar. Don't know anything about her out of work though, she's real secretive, like actively keeping off the radar secret. She's solid though, does a lot for aliens in the navy which as you can see,' he'd pause to tap the point of one of his horns, 'I approve of'. Hindis is pretty easy on the eyes, but she's a career girl through and through. Doesn't matter what career either, she's got ties all over the republic. You better hope it's not her you're after, because if it is she'd never see a police speeder, let alone a cell. Guaranteed'.

His casual attitude would drop a little with Raithe's question. His easy smile would set hard as he turns his full attention to them. 'You want to know what I think of the war? What I'd have had the navy do? I'd have had us make sure we got all of those savages on Malachor V, wiped them from the galaxy entirely. My ships had to scout the rim for pockets of resistance after that battle, and I saw what they did to the worlds that wouldn't give them a good fight. They think there's honour in what they do, but not even wild animals act like them. I'm glad so many died'.

He would calm down a little, taking a breath before continuing. 'I'm glad we have peace, of course I am. I was never a military mind during the war, I was just good with ships. Now I spend most of my time trying to expand the hyperspace beacon network, rimward and coreward. The deep core, now that's a real challenge, and my exploration fleet with break through to see what's in there, mark my words'.

The droid Investigator performs a passive sensory scan, and quickly allays the Admiral's concern for their well-being: "Admiral. My coolant systems are functioning most adequately, and neural thermoregulation amongst my companions is well within acceptable parameters."

"Well.." Kai-wan concedes, "Mistress Oola here tends to run.. a little hot.. but that is her norm." Turning to the heated Twi-lek, he addresses her directly: "Might I recommend exaggerated oscitation? It could aid in cooling the brain, while simultaneously indicating your utter contempt for almost everything."

Interpreting visual cues, from friend and foe alike, the helpful security droid realizes he has missed the mark, somewhat.. "Ah.. Yes. Let us continue our interview after we have had an opportunity to review the relevant data, then."

Tilting his head, he regards the Admiral. "Permit me to compliment you on a most striking gig line, Sir. Not a seam askew. Excuse us, now, if you please."

K-1 abruptly pivots, and makes to exit the office, vocalizing mutedly to Onasi: "A word, Captain?"

Onasi would watch the droid begin to leave the room, his animosity still palpable in the air. As Kai-Wan speaks to him the captain would glance back at Admiral Karath as if for guidance. The admiral would give a barely perceptible nod, and with a faint sigh Karth would go to follow, leaving the room. Emerging back out in the corridor, Karth would turn to face the droid and any who followed it. He would cross his arms over his chest as he sets himself with his back close to the wall of the corridor. 'Alright, what is it?' he would ask bluntly.

Ryff looking concerned said, "Thank you Admiral Ovtiom, we'll keep in touch." Ryff would look to Raithe and Zoroku and suggests, "Maybe we should regroup with the others, to see what their findings were."

Ovitom would raise an eyebrow at this. 'Leaving so soon? Well good luck with the search fellas, I hope you bring this to a close very soon'. With that, the admiral would let the party of jedi leave the cluttered room behind. They would re-emerge in the empty corridor where the other admirals offices waited fro them. They would also see the droid Kai-Wan talking to a tall bearded officer near the back wall of the corridor.

"Captain. Your loyalty to the Admiral is.. admirable." Kai-wan pauses for effect, but apparently no one is in the mood for his feeble play of words.

"But it is my duty to look into this matter. Tell me. Did you have access to the relevant codes, regarding the Foerost incident?"

'Wait, are you accusing me of being a part of this?' Carth would say indignantly to the question. 'Listen, I had nothing to do with that attack, I am loyal to the republic!'

"That may be the case Admiral Karath" Gaze pipes up from the side, having stayed quiet and simply observing the conversation so far. "But something has you nervous, and I'm fairly confident it has to do with this investigation specifically." He gestures vaguely at the Admiral. "Heightened dilation of the pupils, flared nostrils, involuntary finger twitches, accelerated pulse." His tone clinical as he lists off subtle involuntary cues the Admiral likely wasn't aware of. "And it's clearly been like this since before we came into the office, given the nature of your physical state. What's got you so nervous Admiral?"
