Star Wars: Revan's War IC

Muu questions, " If we are accepting preliminary questions, I'm curious about the station's internal communication matrix. What sort systems do we have in place? " and gestures towards the Coruscant Senator " And protocol response times in regards to the station's Republic allies if need be? "

Meanwhile the foreman would look between the other jedi. 'Perhaps this is a good time for the jedi to ask any preliminary questions they have for us hm?'

" I would like to know the answers to several questions." The Chiss would say after politely refusing the dessert offered him. " Which ships are being constructed here, I would like to know the models most importantly. How much is the Senate funding this operation and do you believe it to be enough? Do you plan to replace any and all ships that were lost or simply the ones that weren't with the Revanchist when he disappeared? " He looks at each individual on the table meeting their gazes as he asked the questions. " I assure you the answer to last question should be replacing the whole fleet, the Revanchist is likely never coming back if he stumbles across the wrong Adversary."

The commodore would chuckle, glancing to those sat beside him with an approving smile. 'You know what? I like this guy'. It seemed that the jedi had a few supporters here at least'.

As questions are directed at the Corouscant official, he would hold his hands up as if in defence. 'Oh you're asking the wrong person I'm afraid, I'm only stopping here as part of a bigger journey you see'.

'The response time is several hours with the nearest response forces being on Corouscant' the admiral explain. 'The Republic as you know is stretched thin. We would like to have a defensive fleet here in an ideal world, but even before the war, such an investment was going to be unlikely'. It was difficult to gauge her feelings on this by her tone, as usual she was decidedly neutral in her tone.

'As for the internal comms units, that's all pretty standard' the Mon Calamari would chime in. 'The key structures have comm panels hardwired into the structure, and personnel carry handheld units for when they're working. Especially when they're out on the ships'.

Zoroku's questioning seemed to make some of the officials uncomfortable. They would glance at each other before the Mon Calamari clears his throat. 'Well of course we would like more funding, but everyone int he galaxy would like that to. We aren't being put at risk if that's what you mean'.

The official from Corouscant would nod appreciatively at this before the amphibian continued. 'We only build the ships we're asked to by the Navy officials, we haven't been told their long term plans. The ships though, now that I know about. We only produce Hammerheads and Interdictors here, both repairs and building them from scratch. Mind you, Seinar isn't exactly happy about this arrangement, but needs must'.

Kataddik wanders in to the hall, late.

"Huurh aarrragghuuhw aarrragghuuhw?"

What'd I miss?

' It seems that my line of questioning has discomforted everyone but the Admiral, it would be best to drop my questions for now.' Zoroku looked straight to the Admiral, " Well then, maybe you could answer my questions later Admiral at the meeting. In fact my research goes over the two models of ship mentioned I'm sure you'll find it most intriguing. " he takes a sip from his glass and turns his attention to the rest of the table's conversation.

Gaze stays quiet and eats while everyone else talks about starships and fighter wings. When he's done, he hums quietly to himself, remembering a song one of his patients taught him while he was at her bedside. He folds his hands into his lap, in the classic Jedi posture, limbs vanishing into his white sleeves, and simply sits, thinking.

Muu enthusiastically listens to the Admiral and Mon Calamari's responses. The Arbiter notes the Coruscant response time to the station but, figures a deeper discussion on the subject can wait. He simply nods and allows conversation to continue.

As the hulking Wookie enters in the dining room, chatter would quiet as the rooms occupants would look up at him. 'Ah, welcome' the foreman would say, glancing at the jedi's companions for a moment. 'I'm afraid you have missed most of the dinner, but if you want, I'm sure the chef can have something prepared for you'. As he speaks he'd gesture to the remaining empty seat for Kataddik to take.

As Zokoru mentions his research, both the Admiral and the Mon Calamari would show visible interest. 'That does sound interesting' the ship master would confirm. 'Any information on my ships would be worth hearing'. The admiral would nod in agreement.

This time it was the official from Corouscant that took the reigns of the conversation. 'You know, I can't imagine being a jedi, to commit so much of your life to something like that', he'd pause, shaking his head as he imagines it. 'It almost feels as if they ask too much of people'.

Gaze tilts his head up at that, quirking an eyebrow. "How is it any different from someone who decides to join the armed forces? They dedicate their entire lives to that organization, and might even be asked to give their lives as well. Is that somehow less of a price than Jedi training?" His tone isn't accusatory, he's just genuinely puzzled about the distinction the person made. "If it's about the age at which we become Padawans, while I can understand that it seems strange, but for most of us, the training was a blessing." He takes a sip of his drink and continues. "For most of us, our abilities manifested at a very young age, and while I'm sure the older holo-vids that don't vilify us make it seem like some dramatic, epic moment, for most of us, it's a terrifying discovery. We find ourselves causing previously impossible things to happen, possibly in a moment of danger or stress, and we have no idea what happened. Others look at you strangely when you move a speeder bike off a trapped friend, even if what you did saved that life. You feel confused, isolated, and totally lost on what happened or what it means. The Order helps make sense of it all. They take us in, explain just what is happening to us, and give us a structure to help us keep a handle on our powers, while we come to terms with them. To understand what it means, as far as options for our future, and how to control them in a safe manner. Because the Force is a powerful ally, but.." he gestures around the facility, encompassing all of the shipyards in his comment. "...as anyone here likely knows, a power that isn't properly controlled and contained, can be dangerous to those around it. You don't give a blaster rifle to a child, and you most certainly wouldn't let him pilot a fighter into a combat scenario at the age of like, 7. Same with the Force. It requires training and focus to use properly, and it's not an easy path to gain that training."

Muu grins at Gaze's statement. " I'm sure most in this room are no strangers to the demands of the occupational onus, Senator " he says with a quirky dinner party laugh.

The official would nod as he listens to the points that the jedi make. 'Perhaps you're right. I simply can't imagine giving up so much for a cause like you have, perhaps that's it. Of course the jedi do fantastic work throughout the galaxy, but it must take a toll on its members surely'.

One of the floor managers would nod in agreement as he leans forward to join the conversation. 'I've heard that they take you from your family as children and you can never see them again, that you can never fall in love, is that true?' Many rumours and myths were spread about the jedi order, some true, but many false.

"Of course we can see our families again, but just like people in the military, the amount of free time we are given is limited." Gaze explains. "Most of our initial training is about controlling our emotions." He gestures to the person who asked about love. "And no, we are discouraged from becoming passionate, about anything really. But it's not just an edict of -don't love someone-, it's more to make sure your actions are always governed by your mind, and not your emotions and impulses." He leans on and elbow against the table. "Let me ask you...." he says to the people who have brought up the questions just now. "....I'm willing to bet that all of you, at some point, probably more than once, have been in a situation, where your body was telling you to smash whatever is in front of you. Right? Someone insulted you in public, people laughed at you. Someone threatened or accosted you for their own ego purposes, putting you on the spot yes? You had that feeling of -punch this jerk in the face right now!- yes?" He looks at them for their response.

At this question, all eyes would turn to look at the flight commodore as he leans back in his chair. He would glance at the others, puzzlement on his face before he cracks a crooked smile. 'What? That guy was asking for it' he'd say, holding his hands out in acceptance of the judgment. Judging by his tone he had been in this exact situation and had responded, aggressively.

Gaze raises an eyebrow at the comment, clearly something was being referred to that he missed. "So yeah, couple that kind of mindset, and knee-jerk reaction...." he pauses a moment "...with the ability to not just say, punch someone, but throw a speeder onto his head. Or through the wall behind him. Or just pick him up, and toss him off the side of the construction yard, because you know..." he purses his lips a bit. "....he was asking for it. If someone loses their temper, either due to their own emotional state, or a loved one being threatened, usually that might mean some bruises, broken bones, maybe something serious if they have a weapon." He takes another sip of water. "But for someone who can use the Force the..." he does air quotes at this "...asking for it, can have far more destructive outcomes. So we are taught to control our emotions, to not let them govern our actions. To not let ourselves lash out because some impulse tells us to, and worry about the consequences later. The capacity for damage can be too high to risk that. " He stops and shrugs. "Or at least that's how my Master raised me. " He leans back into his chair, his thoughts on the matter expended for the moment.

Overhearing Gaze’s response, Kataddik interjects:

"U ughguughhhghghghhhgh huurh huuguughghg uugggh aaaaahnr uughghhhgh uughghhhgh awwgggghhh

Also, we didn't all start training as children.

The guests of the dinner would listen with obvious interest to what the jedi have to say. Even for republic officials, this was a rare insight into a secretive, almost mythic order. There would be quiet chatter amongst them as they discus the information that has been given to them, some revaluating what they thought they knew of the jedi from before.

After some more small talk, the meal was finally concluded, and the foreman would rise to his feet. 'Well gentlemen, I must say this has been an enjoyable and informative evening, but I am afraid that I must retire. I suspect we all have a long day of work tomorrow and we could all do with some much needed rest'. There would me a murmuring of agreement from the others as they push their chairs back and rise to their feet.

It had indeed been a long day for the jedi, and most likely not something they had expected when they set out on their journey. They had received a decidedly mixed welcome to the station, and to a lesser extent to the citizens of the republic and their views on their order. Some may not have expected this type of work for so called peace keepers and seekers of knowledge, but it could only be assumed that the masters that had sent them here had their reasons.

The walk back to the jedi quarters was quiet and uneventful as they entered the lull between the day and night ships. The only thing that could be heard other than their footsteps was the low hum of the stations machinery and life support systems. It was almost eerie to see the formerly bustling corridors. It could also be seen as being quite beautiful, their walk framed by the glittering stars and inky black of space. Eventually they reach their quarters, and are left to their own devices.

However not all was well for the jedi as they end their day. As soon as he enters his room the Iktochi, Muu Wusun would have a flash of the future. It was an unsettling vision, one that could only bode ill. He saw the station rotating peacefully, suspending in a pitch black background before there was a sound resembling the roaring of an engine and a terrific flash of blue that blinded the scene. He saw a glass corridor suspended in space and coated in flames. Framed by the fire was a tall figure wrapped in long flowing robes. The figures back was turned to Muu, but a blurred lightsaber hilt could be seen in one hand. The figure did not move one inch as the fires circled and closed in. As they did the scene disintegrated till it was once more black again. Finally, there would be a faint ball of yellow light that seemed to be in the far off distance that hung their for what felt like an age. From the light, two spots of black appeared, and they began to grow and form into the silhouettes of two humans. However just before any recognizable features could be seen, the vision was gone as if it had never existed. At this stage it may be difficult to tell what this meant, but it was for the jedi to decipher.

As Muu's consciousness returns to the awareness of his room, the Padawan turns towards Gaze. " Gaze during your studies at the temple, did your scholarship become cognizant of the xenobiology of my species, the Iktotchi? Particularly the fact one is capable of experiencing time less linearly than other humanoids? Arguably, similar to the precognitive foresight abilities taught by the Order to numerous Jedi pupils; yet, this is a more fluid walking meditation in my biology " he questions.

After a pause of reflection on the vision, " One has just been experienced which is far more vague than usual without context. My received precognitions are relatively close within my environment and typically moments before occurring. Yet, the frame of reference for this vision is obscure with multiple scenes. The vision introduction is of this shipyard station, next a blazing corridor with a robed humanoid backside holding a lightsaber hilt, and lastly a different scene of two human silhouettes. The only emotion felt was unsettlement of boding ill which is why I speak of it. The vision blurred most details to the point where I am uncertain if this is even precognition " he says. Muu begins to wonder if Matt has experience similar sight or vision in relationship to the station; the human has been extremely quiet ever since he step foot on the shipyard.

Gaze turns to Muu as he speaks, his face furrowing as he listens. "I am familiar with your species ability yes, but I wouldn't say I am well versed in it. I've usually had it described as something akin to a heightened awareness of immediate events, but my information is definitely limited." He curls his feet under him where he is sitting, placing his hands in his lap. "Are your species visions known for a high accuracy rate? I mean, do they usually come to pass, or is it a hit or miss kind of situation?"

Edited by KungFuFerret

Muu's thought process shifts by the question. " Right, inaccuracy is possible. Those taught in the Order frequently experience this because their linear psychology is unable to calculate or observe the variable shifts which change outcomes " he thought.

" Having not studied my species through a Republic academia lens, I'd say so. The seers of Iktotch predicted the arrival of the Republic hundreds of years before the event, my parents knew the Jedi Order would train their child, and saw my personal development beyond my Youngling years. The future is always in motion and throughout the rotation I manipulate or form events from moment to moment. As you said, its more of a heightened awareness of immediate events. My personal view is its just nonlinear biological sight, clear as I see now. If a foresight event has changed, one is usually able to calculate or identify the variables which lead to its change " he communicates to Gaze.

" Maybe this vision is different because its the will of the force? Or is long term foresight blurry to reckon or anticipate the shifting of events? Was this vision even foresight or a message? " he considers.

Walden would go into the Jedi quarters after the dinner and get himself prepared.

The day was nice: he met an old friend of his father's, flew with his squadron, and seemed to make a positive impression on the air commodore.

As he laid in his bunk, he took out the challenge coin his father gave him so long ago. Hopefully this would be a chance to live the life his parents did, at least for a moment. Then, it would be back to following the path of the Jedi. But for now, he needed sleep. And so he put the coin away and went to bed.

Gaze listens to Muu's comments and nods. He purses his lips and drums his fingers, thinking. "You said the vision had two locations of note, or at least that you could discern. This shipyard, and a corridor. Could you make out any details?" He shrugs, holding out his hand, clearly indicating he's aware this might not be possible. "A control terminal with a timestamp on it perhaps, an indication of which level the corridor happened to be on written on the wall? Stuff like that?"

Zoroku heads to the window as he enters his room, he examines the ships under construction outside his viewport. ' How quickly the the Admiral's opinion of me and my research can change..., Curious. I wonder if it was her confusing me for a Pantoran or her desire to further climb the ranks that got her to be more interested.' Zoroku studied the half completed hull outside Identifying the ship as a Interdictor Class warship he sighs disappointed ' At least they didn't finish this ship before I recommend to discontinue it from service. It is most surprising that she wouldn't know the liability of that ship and discontinue it herself being that she served in them for most of the war.' He stays at the window for a while longer before going to bed.

Tiberius enters the room shortly after Zoroku, “So, Zorkou, what do you think of our fine hosts?” He asks, “My opinion will be a little more biased, so I want an independent view.”

"The Foreman is nervous man... That is plain to see." He speaks still staring out the view port his hands crossed in front of his chest " The Union Leader seems to not like our being here a mistrust for the Jedi or just simply not wanting to be told what he should do. The fact that he did not appear at the dinner is almost enough to prove that." He turns to face Tiberius as he continues to speak. " The Admiral as I had guessed is eager to rise through the ranks. The Flight Commander is aggressive and competitive good traits in a fighter pilot, though not the best for any type of leader." He pauses for a second and strokes his beard " No one else seemed to be of to much import."

Muu replies “ The vision was more abstract than a heighten awareness. Most of the specifics were blurred in the vision. The absence of detail mystifies the mind concerning the orbital shipyard. Perhaps, it was a message by the Will of the Force? ”.

Muu focuses more in-depth internally “ The emotional strength of the vision was unnerving. As if a shift of unbalance was the centric theme of the station. We are the only Jedi aboard the shipyard, correct? ” he questions.
