Yep, it's really too bad that Spartan Games folded. Going to make these even harder to get.

Yeah Miniature Market had all of Spartan Games stuff on clearance but by the time I saw it there weren't any Firestorm Armada ships left, mostly just the ground game and terrain pieces.

Do you know if they've announced any plans for Firestorm Armada. Now that I've seen the ships I kinda want some of them.

All I've heard so far is that they're going to run with the Fan-mada rules for now and start producing mini in 2018.

My entry for Crabbok's painting contest.

MC80 Battle Cruiser "Mon Cracken". Commissioned to cruise for lone Imperial ships. The "Mon Cracken" was painted by her crew with a bioluminescent ink produced by the most deadly predator in the depths of Dac, the Gothmar Cracken. In full sunlight the ship sports the blood reds and purple stripes, seen only when the great Cracken hunts near the surface, but when in the depths of space the bioluminescent inks glow with the pale blues that are the only warning as it attacks.

This was a lot of fun. The Liberty has a multi layer paintjob. The base red and purple with a pale underbelly are standard acrylics. The green window and hanger lights are done in florescent green and the engine glow with florescent blue. The third layer is a clear black light paint for the strips and the leading edge of the hull. The florescents show up in both normal and black light.

Hopefully next weekend, as I will be out of town this weekend.

The Mon Cracken is still blowing my mind. I've been showing it to people that don't play armada, people that don't care about minis, people that don't know jack about Star Wars, and literally everyone is amazed at that paint job.

The sunlight version looks like an actual sea creature. Like if that washed up on the beach, I wouldn't think twice. It doesn't look like a space ship, it looks like a wild animal. The natural feel to the colors and pattern. The way the color bleeds to the underside. Imagine a couple tentacles off the wide side and it's a squid.

But then the bioluminescent element that you did just make it pop. Not only is it a great highlight, but it again feeds into the entire natural animal vibe. It's just all around legit. The concept, the execution, the level of detail. I've seen some GREAT stuff done with Armada and other miniatures, but this just tops it all in my books.

I hope you are submitting it to that painting contest if that is still going, because it would be a very strong contender.

@kmanweiss That is some seriously high praise! Thank you. There have been some truly amazing paint jobs posted on this forum, and I am honestly humbled that anyone would count my efforts among the best.

I have indeed submitted it to Crabbok's contest. There are a lot of beautifully painted submissions, but no matter what the result It was a blast to paint.

Now I just need to get it on the table! The Mon Cracken needs to hunt.

So I'm sitting around at the in-laws today, thinking about my next painting project when I get home, and an idea hit me. I have 4 Hammerhead Corvettes at home, and I was thinking of doing them in the colors of different actual hammers.

Crazy idea?

Stanley:

Those are also the names the ships have to go by. Hammerhead-class Corvette: Stanley.

You forgot the MC Hammer...

Well, I could go with DeWalt, same colors as Stanley, but sounds a bit better. I actually kind of like naming the others the Eastwing, the Craftsman, and the Stiletto!

I do like those names. And I do like the four colours you posted, but only a little bit more than mine ;)

The Eastwing, the Craftsman, and the Stiletto sound like good names but Stanley is still my favorite.

That ship will be the Armada equivalent of Boaty McBoatface.

Well in Halo there's a Port Stanley , so why not a normal Stanley for Armada?

:)

The time has come for the grand of boxing of my latest Shapeways order.
