Thinking of an adventure run with a Verenian Priest as the Antagonist

By keltheos, in WFRP Gamemasters

I'm looking into setting up a mini-campaign where the players are charged with tracking down and stopping a renegade Verenian Priest from acquiring certain tomes/artifacts she's heck-bent on recovering. She's been driven slightly nutso by her fanatical beliefs and is pursuing some heretical knowledge she feels can help in the eternal war against Chaos.

So it's a 'misguided/misunderstood' antagonist who still needs to be shut down.

Question: where else can I dig up more info on Verena and her followers? Was there a 2E book that covered the faiths in depth?

There was the Tome of Salvation for 2E which covered faiths. I don't have it with me right now, but online sources corroborate that it does have a chapter on the Cult of Verena.

Awesome, thanks. I'll have to start looking for that one.

I have the Tome of Salvation and the info is great on all cults. It will give tons of ideas.

Have you thought of including the Order of the Cleansing Flame in the mix ? The Sigmarite inquisition might hire the PCs, and as a twist, they could eventually suspect the PCs of wanting to steal the artefact for themselves... Or maybe they believe that the PCs have been exposed to too much heretical info and must be... terminated...

Your campaign could instill doubt in the PCs, who is the bad guy ? The Inquisition ? The Verenean priest ? Maybe the Verenean could be very convincing and could sway the PCs in his favour ? Just throwing ideas up in the air here...

I hadn't, but I am now. Thanks!

Just picked up the Tome of Salvation via RPGNOW. 250 pages of Warhammer religion GOODNESS!
