For those who use opposed checks in combat, I have a question

By justicewoot, in WFRP House Rules

I GM'ed my first 3rd ed. game session yesterday, and I did my first combat using opposed checks for combat instead of the usual 1 P dice for melee/ranged attacks. So basically, any melee/ranged action cards that states "Vs. Target Defence", I would use the opposed check rule to give them the challenge dices.

So, to what stats do you guys oppose a melee attack? I opposed it VS highest of the defender str and aug. What about ranged? I opposed the check to opponent's agility.

For magic, I don't do opposed checks, but I came up with a rule to add some inherent difficulty to magic (since the FAQ states the default difficulty as Simple (0d)). Basically, I use this equation :

SpellcasterRank - SpellRank + 2.

Basic spells = rank 0, and there's always minimum of 1 challenge dice.

What do y'all think?

How did the combats go?

What were the characters stats, who/what were they fighting?

Im interested in using opposed rolls but it seems to make some stats even more important and some beasties way more powerful than originally intended.

How would a soldier STR 3 ever hit and Orc STR 5 or ever not get hit by the same Orc. And completely forget about hitting a Wargor.

Thats why I want to know how you went.
