I Kinda Would Like Some Ewoks

By Manchu, in Star Wars: Legion

it could be cool, especially the glider bears aka drop bears. Think about it they cant see out from walls but they can't be shot at either.

I so want my army of cute and cuddly little murder bears. I'd have to cut up some stormtroopers so that I could customize my Ewoks though. One carrying a Biker Scout head and a spoon, one caaying a severed Stormtrooper arm instead of a spear. Scenery could include a trooper on a spit roasting over a fire. So many possibilities. C'mon FFG give us some Ewoks!

If they release Ewoks, I will paint each one as a different Care Bear and have an army of Care Bears using their special powers!!

Nothing against u man but I hope with all my heart that this game remains serious and not a family friendly joke... Why don't you custom build unit with rules for home play? Many people print their own custom x-wing expansions note that nowadays u can print plastic and cardboard both for a reasonable price

.. I hope for it to stay a mature enough"Rogue One" kind of Star wars. Although I encourage everyone to print their own Ewoks or Gungans just for laughs ;)

Only official Ewoks and Gungans will do. I need them to be tournament legal so I can be as irritating as possible with constant Yub Nubs and Meesas. All part of my psychological warfare strategy.

That would be so awesome. When we get Ewoks (When, not If) I may have to try this too.

Think of a young black bear. Now make it sapient. Now give it opposable thumbs and tool use.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to fight that either.

If you've seen the Ewok Adventure movies, you'll never be able to unsee how joyous Ewoks are when they get their hands on blaster cannons and start mowing people down.

How about at the beginning of the game if your opponent has speeder bikes one model is replaced by an ewok on a speeder bike. The ewok can only make move actions and always at full speed!

Honestly the Gungan army was kinda interesting and i would not mind seeing it be playable. Overall i would like to see a lot of the Prequels in this game. There were a lot of cool armies in those movies.

You can have Ewoks in SW Legion without making the game a joke, at least to the extent that the Star Wars movies themselves are "serious" (they are space operas, after all). The simplest way to incorporate Ewoks as as a special forces unit with some kind of area denial/activation denial mechanic (simulating tricks and traps), as opposed to them being straight-up combatants.

I agree. The jar jar scenes aside, the gungan army in Phantom Menace was cool and different. Same thing with droids and wookies, much more so than Rebels and Imperials.

Gungams, Ewoks I do not care which kind of victim rebel Generals like to command for their self humiliation.

Not sure if OP is joking or not but I'd like an Ewok army. I'm not quit sold on Legion yet and am watching closely to see if I will buy (at this point I am leaning more to the "no" side) But an Ewok army would be an insta buy for me.

I am not joking, although I am also not so sure about an all-Ewok army. I would like to see one or two expansions of Ewoks (Ewok squad in spec forces slot, Ewok Glider in support slot). If they were popular, FFG could make commanders and corps expansions, too.

Stuff like ewoks are where games go off the rails. I'd be fine with specific units but a whole army would be just plain stupid. They have to be balanced to face other factions and then power creep usually sinks in and you have traditional forces losing to armies based on gimmicks. Look at IA Nationals at GenCon this year. Won by an ugnaught squad. While I'm not saying anything bad about the skill or person who used such group but seriously? Ugnaughts should never be a competitive anything, just like ewoks.

OTOH you raise a strong point about Ugnaughts being the unlikely tourney champs, probably at least partially because of balance issues.

But OTOH Ewoks defeated an entire Legion of the Emperor's best troops.

In all seriousness, I think the bigger issue with the all-Ewok army is that Ewoks are a primitive folk native to Endor, not a space-faring race that one would encounter in battles across the galaxy.

Disney, and to a lesser extent FFG, are family friendly companies. I, for one, cannot see them releasing a range of carnivorous bears in Legion.

We interviewed a young adult years ago at a job who didn't know what ewoks were. We passed.

I would love to paint ewoks, jawas and sand men. Here's to hoping for legion with a long, healthy table life.

I was just thinking that! (But I would never do that.)

Disney doesn't pull punches: Bambi's mom? dead! Mufasa? dead! Frolo: God god Frolo, he wants to have sex with a hot gipsy chick and if he can't have her he'll burn her at the stake! Still not enough? Here are the Cauldron-born:

from the Black Couldron. Trust me, Disney is fine with murder bears.

Speaking of murderous ewoks...

Do we know if this game will have campaign rules?

Can my ewoks capture storm troopers and BBQ them for bonuses for the next game?

There is an interesting conversation here to be had about the "seriousness" of Star Wars games and Star Wars generally. There really is no getting around the fact that Return of the Jedi - not some crazy prequel - features flint-wielding teddy bears helping the Rebel alliance route the Galactic Empire's "best troops." Some of you may remember that long before the shadow of Jar Jar Binks fell over Star Wars, there was endless debate about whether Ewoks were just a flat commercial swindle or a beloved part of the wacky fun of Star Wars. Compared to stuff like "meesa bombad general" Ewoks don't seem so awful even despite the abysmal Ewok spin off movies. At least Ewoks are cute.

But when it comes to a game simulating people risking their lives in outright war over political ideology, do cute teddy bears have a place?

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to answer - Yes, yes they do.

The reason the ewoks beat the technological might and elite troops of the empire is because George Lucas wanted to have a battle between the technological and the primitive. Originally it was gonna be the Wookies, but by then we already had two movies of Chewbacca co-piloting a starship and fixing lots of stuf, so ol' George had to come up with a new more primitive race.

He should have gone with the wookies. Probably that was the point there old george lost it...

It's funny how muchSW lore was influenced by the moviemaking process. the only reason there are green lightsabres is the fact that when they were shooting ROTJ they figured that a blue lightsaber wouldn't stand out enough against the bright blue sky, so they changed it to green.

Thye didn't learn from that in ep VII.

I play Galaxy Of Heroes; a star wars app game. It's great, but Ewoks are brilliant in there, mostly because of characters.

Chief Chirpa allows all the ewoks to attack again,

Teebo gives huge stealth bonus and debuffs to slow the enemy,

The 'elder' is a powerful healer, able to resurrect units; in our case that could translate to re inforcing existing units where unit leader still lives but line troopers have been casualties,

Wicket gains croft bonus' based on how many ewoks are still alive, and he gets extra turns fro that too,

Logray is able to take away enemy buffs and bonus' and cleanse debuffs on ewoks,

Paploo does similar, but different enough to be complimentary, but also has a 'diversion' attack; in this game it could stop an enemy unit from activating next turn, or only taking half its actions.

Anyway; plenty of scope for ewoks!
