Factions / Expansion Packs

By Thrindal, in Star Wars: Legion

There seems to be a lot we could see in terms of expansions and many possible factions, possibly aligned but maybe not.

My first choice off the top of my head...

Tusken Raiders with Banthas and some encampments.

Other packs/factions...

  1. Jabba's horde (Guards, Jabba, Skiffs)
  2. Ewoks (soldiers, gliders, primitive weapons)
  3. Jawa's (Stun Guns and Transports) Not sure how battle ready Jawa's are though.
  4. Snow Troopers
  5. Rebel Snow Soldiers
  6. Scariff Rebel Soldiers
  7. Rebel Soldiers (Tantive IV style)
  8. Sand Troopers (Dewbacks)
  9. Clone Troopers
  10. First Order Troopers
  11. Resistance Troopers
  12. Wookie's
  13. Saw Gererra and his Horde
  14. Rebel Commando's
  15. Cloud City Guards
  16. Bounty Hunters Guild
  17. Death Troopers
  18. Beach Troopers
  19. Scout Troopers

Then you have all the Uniques, not sure if each pack will be a bunch of genrics and a Hero or if the Hero's will be sold separately.

Again I'd love to get a Tusken Raider faction with Bantha's etc. What would be your first choice?

Adding factions as I think of them. Or others mention them.

For sure:

  • dice
  • measurment tool
  • rebel commandos
  • storm troopers
  • AT-RT
  • speeder bikes

Likely:

  • AT-ST
  • some kind of imperial officer
  • dismounted scout troopers
  • Leia and Han (2 pack?)

I think I'd like to have light side and dark side "grand alliances" with some models being neutral, instead of many distinct factions. That way you wouldn't be restricted to an army of all Ewoks, instead you could have a joint army of Ewoks and Jawas and Ugnaughts .

I am a little dissapointed this didn't launch with the Republic and CIS being announced too. Thats my biggest want. Also scum I guess...

Plenty of room for the Clone Wars. Commanders, I think, is where we will see some curious additions. Strike teams as well.

And Gungans or maybe that would be too OP.

I shall call them Mini Me-s.

Please no ewoks or gungans.

I could handle ewoks in this I think but Gungans, gotta agree with you there.

You don't get it, if they make Gungans a thing that means that we can actively destroy those armies, it is cathartic for most and lets those few who do like Gungans to field an army.

I hope they do branch out for different allied units. Bounty hunters. Custom Jedi etc. It would be great for their RPG games to have some customisable Star Wars Minis.

Don't forget KX-series security droids for the Imperials and the Unique K-2S0 for the Rebels!

Oh, and Shoretroopers!

Ewok Reavers --- with skull masks!

Bothan suicide squads made up of many figures.

Obviously every bounty hunter from The Empire Strikes Back. Possibly forming into some kind of A-Team like unit.

I am the opposite, I would love to have a Gungan army. I think that would be way cool.

I'd like to play with Grievous and Battle Droids!

While I'm most excited for the prospect of fielding Count Dooku and General Grievous, if they made a Gungan faction I would have to play that one just to troll all the PT-haters.

I agree with this. A third "Fringe" faction that's all its own but included squads that might cost less for certain sides or double for the other.

I completely agree. Things like Tusken Raiders or Cloud City Guards really are non-aligned factions. Raiders are always included in the dark or imperial faction but that's only because they clubbed Luke over the head... oh and kidnapped and killed Shimi. They really are more independent.

Independent to the point that they wouldn't nessisarrily fight for anyone, but rather complicate the battle.

It would make for some interesting and flavorful games to have a third player faction with their own agenda. The Rebels are trying destroy an imperial weapons depot while the Empire is defending it while a group of outlaws are trying to steal the weapons for themselves, or a bounty hunter is trying to capture a hero on the rebel side because they are wanted by some crime boss and the Empire just wants them dead.

Funny but Tusken Raiders were my first thought too.

others have outlined a bunch of great ideas, as does looking at the IA product line.

Will be interesting to see if they follow the 3-faction paradigm or go Rebel/Imperial/Unaffiliated to allow non-Scum units (Tuskens!) a place.

In the FFG Inflight report in this years GenCon on youtube they say the idea for now is to only focus on the Galactic Civil War...

...era. Could still include such denizens as tuskens and whatnot from the OT films but Gungans are not coming anytime soon :D

Thoughts on expansions:

Empire:

-AT-ST (and AT-DP possibly)

-AT-AT

-Hovertank

-Officers and commanders, serve as squad leaders and provide buff to entire unit

-Specialist troopers (Snipers, demolition troopers, anti-vehicle...)

-Snowtroopers, shoretroopers and sandtroopers possibly only to provide new upgrades, although may have also Bantas

-Death trooper pack

-Inferno Squad pack

-TIE fighters, bombers, reapers and strikers

And as we have seen on upgrades and keywords, each wave will add several that will have synergy with older ones

Rebellion:

-Wookies

-Ewoks

-Speeder bikes

-Turrets

-Tauntauns

-Partisans

-Rebel specialists (just like the imperials)

-with clothing and gear to planet, like the troopers to provide new cards mainly

-X-wing, Y-wing, U-wing

With all, surely more heroes that add something special to the pack and main characters

I would also love to see some thematic scenery pieces!

I really hope Legion takes a leaf out of 40K's book, and starts to include multiple armies/factions, instead of just Empire vs Rebellion.

I'll still play if it's only Empire vs Rebellion, but here's hoping.
