Figrin D'an's Good Time Drive Yards

The HWK is the nicest HWK paint I've seen to date!

@Green Knight Thank you kindly! I've seen some excellent HWK paints on these forums so that is a massive compliment!

Where'd you get the AT-ATs? Are they Mel's?

@SFC Snuffy Yep these are the Gozanti's with AT-AT's from Mels!

A couple more additions to the fleets!

Boba Fett & a generic VCX in a 'sand viper' style paint job (may add some white markings but for now I love this colour!)

Starting to grow particularly unimpressed with photographing these guys. If anyone has some pointers on how to photograph the tiny monsters I'd love to hear it!

I added some of the paint chipping on the red section, but it's hard to show up in the pics.

Beautiful! So much detail on such a small model. Puts mine to shame!

Also, I love your U-Wings and Strikers! They look awesome!!!

Well it has arrived, so let the conversion begin!

The ISD 1 and her one weakness, the combat Hammerhead, both from Mel's. Stay tuned!

Been doing some more painting. Finally got the Gozanti AT AT Landers completed.
For the second Gozanti I filed off the front turrets, painted the viewport higher & turned them into AT-ACT's. Guess it's an assault & Colonisation force?

I've also painted a few more X Wings, in a couple of varying schemes.
The announcement of the MC-75 had inspired me to complete my Blue Squadron with U Wing to escort (though I'm praying the "hidden" elements of the MC-75 leak includes a couple of U Wings).

I've tried to add further detail to the cockpits, but need to pick up a better colour for the cockpit hatch than the light grey I have now.

That... are some god-level painting skills. Holy ****!

Have fun :D

That's the New version of the Hammerhead right? The one that fits the size of the official one.

@DampfGecko Thank you very much! I've got a long way to go before I reach the standard of others on here, but I truly appreciate!

@melminiatures It is indeed! Loving how hefty it is. Such a chunky beast compared to the FF version. Very excited to get it painted up, but the ISD takes precedence for now haha. The modding is successfully completed (very easy), and primer is applied!

Another paint up as a small break from my ISD 1 mod & repaint (it's a much larger project than I anticipated or have taken on previously, but getting there).

Here is the Combat Hammerhead from Mel's (FUD of course). It's a beast compared to the slim FFG model!

I've been running a few lists with a single Hammerhead as Garel's Honour with Cham Syndulla on board. Given the nature of this ship I felt the Combat model suited, but I wanted this thing to be a trashed, scratched, rusted out hulk of a ship (I was thinking Reaver ships from Firefly)

I'm not sure if I've truly captured that here, but I've tried to have lots of paint chipping from the forward ramming area, as well as rust through the main fuselage, and a general dirty old coat of paint.

I'm thinking about adding more weathering to the tan paint, but for now I'm quite happy with it, and have more ISD to highlight!

That looks amazeballs! Nice work, I'm looking forward to doing mine, I'll be lucky to get it looking half this good.

Rust in space always gets me but I guess almost anything Star Wars can go atmospheric no matter how little aerodynamic they seem.

Thanks a lot! I'm sure you'll nail it. I'm not quite content on it, but it's gotta go on the board soon haha.

Haha I tend to agree, although I pictured this more like the GR-75 in Mos Eisley:

https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/5/51/Labor_droids.png/revision/latest?cb=20121210211444

An ageing but reliable war relic rusting away in a hidden Spaceport before being dragged back into battle. From Rebels we know these ships can land and function as simple transports, so I'm sure they're not above getting pretty haggard haha

that's beautifull!

WELL, I've finally completed my ISD 1 mod & repaint. It's been a long two weeks, but I'm super happy with the result.

I've tried to go with a lighter grey to closer match the light ISD1's in New Hope & R1, but I really wanted to keep a lot of contrast through the model so it really popped on the table, as I've seen a lot that just end up looking one colour from anything other than 5cm away.

Let me know your thoughts. If anyone is interested I can put together a tutorial/process of what I did (with progress pics).

The new tower & turrets really add to the model:

Multi Layered Shipboard lights (yellow to match the films):

The rear & a better look at the panelling highlights:

And finally the detail on the Bridge & Tower. I'm particularly happy with the paint detail I got into the Shield Generators:

Let me know your thoughts and if you want any more info! Would definitely recommend the conversion kit from Mel's to anyone craving that ANH or R1 style ISD. It's simple and looks excellent!

I would definitely like to see the process for replacing the bridge. Was it an easy swap? The model looks fantastic!

That looks soooo pretty!

This is amazing, you are my hero. All this Rogue One stuff gets me all excited haha. Do you have a list of colours and steps you used for this? Also I haven't been able to find Mel's conversion on shapeways, I must be blind.

The actual bridge construction I didn't take photos of.
The whole swapping process was honestly so easy it didn't cross my mind to document it.

About 5mins of gently levering the existing bridge from the different seams around it with an exacto knife and it popped off, and Mel's bridge matches the interior construction identically, so it slotted in easily!

Good to know. I have one ISD I conversion kit already, with another in my cart awaiting me pulling the trigger. Unfortunately they will need to wait for wave 7 ISDs, as all 5 of my current ISDs are painted already.

Unfortunately, the one I have keeps calling to me to build a skeletal ISD, with only the bridge tower enclosed. We will see.

fantastic ISD AND lovely b wing

Couple of Lite GR-75 Mods/Paintjobs.

A Comm's Net Flotilla thanks to some VSD antennae, a Squadron command flotilla thanks to some extra X Wings, and a Massassi group GR75.

I still have no clue how to photograph these tiny models, but they look much better in less stark lighting. I will work on it!

Do you see how stark the shadows are in a couple of the photos? You need your light to be more diffuse, to come at the subject from more angles. This should create a much softer effect and not show quite so much contrast. My other suggestion would be to find a small piece of black cloth, preferably velvet, to use as a background. A jersey knit or flannel would work if you can find it in the right color; you want something that will absorb as much light as possible. Conventional wisdom says a cool, neutral color for your background, but given the subjects at hand I think black would do just fine.

Those are some great GR-75s, I really like the paint schemes!

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I'll look into picking up a couple of cheap lamps so I can get a nicer lighting source, and see if I've got any fabric that will work for this!
