Rolling once is definitely not the most inefficient way to do it. You need to roll said final salvo at LEAST a thousand times, see how many times each person wins, THEN make your blanket statements and argue about it for the rest of your life. The person who loses more obviously starting off with the accusation that the other person had weighted dice so the results are invalid.

While that sounds like a very inefficient experiment, it also sounds like a lot of work. I'll propose crowd sourcing two thousand or so final salvos from forum users; through which we can then learn the unassailable truths. Rolling your own final salvo once as a control, of course (experiments need a control).

After listening to the cast today I can say that the Assault Gunboat is a better podcast eeerrrr thread.

Also your using way to much empirical evidence to do this, your going to need to shoot from the gut, math be dammed and I am not even talking about conformation bias of seeing that 3 dice beat 7. Dude, at 3v7, it's not just good rolling, but making your opponent bad at rolling. Which is also a skill. I once rolled 8 6's in a row playing Risk. My one dude killed like a whole stack of my friend's army. It was awesome, and I called each and every 6. Mad skills.

At a regional in the 5th or 6th round of the day, during the reign of deadeye jumpmasters, I once made the call of "ok you going to blank out on the hit crit damage roll take a major explosion, into another major explosion into a direct hit, thus killing you jumpmaster", he rolls blank blank on def, major explodes into second major explodes into direct hit, his jumpmaster died. It called plot armor people, find it cause its a useful. Man I miss the deadeye jumps meta(runs from thrown fruit and wrenches).
