Agreed. I feel like R2D2 3PO Norra is a good fit.

Hmmmm.... yeah, I'm good with that.

I found the VTTV finals and watched it on twitch. Was that really the game to watch for 3BQD? I’m super for 35 minute final matches, but it didn’t seem extremely standout. 1 agi ships can get hit by 2 die attacks!

Is it just that everybody else that has been streamed with them messed up turn zero so badly?

No disrespect intended at Ryan F, it just didn’t seem like his opponent made it too difficult for him.

Quite honestly yes, apparently everyone has totally forgotten how to play arc'd ships. That killbox on nym was some of the best gunboat play all weekend.

Huh. Guess I’ll wear my weighted clothes of Flight-Assist T-65s to the not-Krayt-Cup, and switch to gunboats for the two other regionals I might be able to make. Hopefully that will give me plenty of practice going in to Chicago-Mandalore.

Edit: the kill on Nym was pretty good, it showed some patience and math. Nym was taking one Harpoon no matter where he went, and most options had him taking two. I liked the self bump against the ioned ship the next turn though, Miranda went through the rock and couldn’t SLAM. The block was good but two or three extra dice probably upped the odds of ending it.

@AEIllingworth - Justin had practiced against that list previously, and I'm guessing he had some basis for that level of aggression. From what I can tell, it worked for him all weekend. That said, Ryan showed great patience all weekend and I think his style was the perfect foil to Justin's attack. He's featured in some of the other top cut matches on VTTV and you can see him work everybody over much the same way.

Just for fun, if you wanted to get more on your Gunboats, and traded out Quickdraw for a 4th boat, would you rather have 4 with Ion Cannons (3 that also have Harpoons) or 4 with Harpoons (3 that also have Ion Cannons)? I'm leaning toward option 1, but that's probably because there's few finer feelings than catching Miranda with an Ion Cannon.

I wish there was something other than quickdraw to take those 34 points.

I just want other options.

There I've wished in that hand. Let' see what's in my other hand...

Eeww.

You could do something like Inquisitor and a three point bid, I guess? 22+22+3, is 47 enough to out points a Kylo?

You’ve got no-engine Vader, Targeting computer Fel (cough), Ion Kestal? Procket Inquisitor?

Nothing seems better than Quickdraw.

34... Er... 34... Oh! I know!

Snap Shot Mauler Mithel for the range control jumper and Winged Gundark. That seems totally legit!

Sorry, may have dialled the dumb to 11. I'll try to reel it back a bit.

Depending on what you expect to see. Inquisitor, jax, fel and adapt vader are all solid options.

It’s not that as much as that trying to plan to counter an approach vector on a ship with slam is essentially like having to calculate an extra turn of possibilities. They don’t behave like traditional arc ships in that respect and become that much harder to handle because of the increase in branching possibilities. Otherwise, three bombers and QD would already have become a thing (though yes, the gunboats present other advantages).

Probably not if Miranda and Nym remain a thing, though.

Comedy Option: Captain Kagi w/Countermeasures, Rebel Captive, Intel Agent, Collision Detector.

(PS I still owe you a beer for that terrible thing Vader did to Miranda, I still feel **** about that lol)

I keep thinking a defender maybe...

Trade some punch for some tank.

But, quickdraw just keeps looking like the best choice

Also, if Morgan Reid hasn' named his list yet I'd like to sell the rights to "commonwealth offenders."

Not bad! I quite like that but the squad has been dubbed 'K2' for simplicity

I haven't seen the details of the list. Do you drop the title for a 45 point Kylo and a 3 point bid?

He ran a 99 point list, I think. Title seemed key to helping Kylo avoid some damage for a round.

Wow, if this is the case, I'm very interested to understand what the strategy was against PS9s that move after him. I get that PS10/11 is generally less maneuverable, so you can use your extra maneuverability to deal with it, but there had to be opposing Kylos with a bigger bid in the field, right?

America doesn't believe in Kylo.

They only believe in defensive turrets, regen, and bombs...

:(

Kylo barely believes in Kylo!

Honestly, in the US meta, from what I can gather, PS9 was so sparsely populated that you could probably get away with no bid.
