Whats nearly as good as stripping a target lock is telling people they can throw their harpoon at you, but not mod their dice ... it's a doozy :)

Debating Wes over Wedge, but first impressions tell me I need Wedge's extra pop to push enough damage.

Haven't had the chance yet to pull the doozy on someone, but it's coming

I found you have to be very careful with order of action ...

  1. Activate ship in combat phase
  2. Fenn action to shut them down
  3. Select target and weapon
  4. yadda

A lot of folk say 'Vader shoots Wedge with a Harpoon' ... then you say 'I'm activating Fenn to shut down Vader' ... and they can say ... then I won't use my Harpoon ...

An excellent point!

To start another topic as well, is one hindering themselves from a 'Git Gud' mindset if they are playing cards as intended when rules as written are vague (ex: launching replacing drop option for bombs though RAW are ambiguous) assuming that a future FAQ will correct the RAW?

This is the actual niche for wedge, high ps front loaded damage, normally I'd say wes is better, this is the exception.

Is Wedge ever worth spending points for a Torpedo? It would hit super hard, especially if you take Chips, but it kind of bumps him to a different points level.

He’s great at triggering the harpoon condition with torps. Any torp at all.

I have fiddled around with making room for a Plasma Torp, but it seems to necessitate moving Poe/Wedge to PS10 which makes me nervous with PS11 alpha strikes around.

It's definitly meta dependant, but I'd lean towards worth

I really like the Plasma Torp right now with how many Quickdraws there are in the meta. I feel part of the rise of Quickdraw isn't only the PS11 Harpoon platform, but also the fact that Plasma Torps aren't as predominant in the meta with the JM5K getting their torps taken away. All other weapons need to try and do 3 full damage to Quickdraw where as Plasma just needs to do 2. Add Wedge as a carrier with his ability and you have a great way to neutralize late game QD if you can setup the engagement favorably.

Poe/Wedge/Fenn at 11 just put this together in a builder. Focus on getting Wedge into prime position and use Fenn to coordinate him to having a Focus for the Plasma shot. Then just push Poe to the end and continue to threaten with Wedge having every action he needs via Fenn plus his own action he takes.

I've played against a very similar list, and the issue is that Wedge goes down really fast, then you basically have just one ship that means something.

If Fenn is literally just there to provide coordinates you might be better served cheapening the shuttle to put points on wedge (or a torp on Poe to make his R3 threat greater and increase his points value)

Fenn's ability helps keep the incoming fire at Wedge and Poe a bit neutered too. The PS11 Coordinate and his ability are both valuable. As @Biophysical said, Wedge can die very quickly and ideally Fenn helps mitigate that, but if you misplay Wedge, he's super dead. I don't think it's a "great" list, but can do some interesting things.

Wake me up when this costs 99pts instead of 120pts.

Rebels need a squadron mechanic that just provides straight cost reductions to allow existing cool stuff to fit 3 ship Ace archetypes.

Absolutely yes. The PS10 Rebel Alpha is Nym/Airen/Wedge with two Harpoons and a Plasma Torp.

It mashes things up, and with a following wind I expect it to take down at least one regional or open this season.

check out the videos of rounds 5 & 6 as it went 6-0 in the Swiss in this regional.

It takes some build up to be incoherently screaming, may not have enough time on Friday. Saturday I'll be devolving into a pillar of salt and rage as another regional slowly and agonizingly goes south on me. Sunday I should be ok.

That is pretty similar to my head-sim list. I have been considering R2 Astro instead of FAA for two reasons: open up his stress-clearing maneuvers and I have only one FAA. Don’t know which I like better and will probably need table time.

This is what keeps me from diving in deeper. I plan on taking it to my local x-wing night and getting some reps with it.
