Thane is the biggest problem in 2.0. Having to get a ship in arc to roll a focus result, yet not spend a focus to only flip a damage card that is face-down to hopefully do something relevant to the situation is much more broken than Redline being able to take a focus target lock in every possible circumstance, regardless of bumping or red maneuvers as long as he is able to use advanced sensors.

My buddy was having an NPE yesterday when I just played good and didn’t take any damage cards and his Thane never got his ability off, “I don’t get to do my things!”. Thane’s an NPE for both sides I guess.

We should argue about thane more.

No, all rebel players should run Thane.

I'm definitely not just happy to see easy kills.

Thane is a janky as all heck X-Wing of random effectiveness in situational moments. Only real advantage one can count on is the I5 initiative.

I was in the Kyle Katarn camp with Jyn Erso crew, but I've gone more towards Jan Ors. I think part of the power of the Moldy Crow is for that ship to have that token stack during the first few turns of engagement for itself. Kyle dishing it out inadvertently makes it much easier to burn him down. With that in mind, that means keeping Kyle back a bit and that shot from a Moldy Crow HWK is now much more valuable, so not having that part of the fight is a negative IMO. With how cheap you can keep Jan Ors vs 1st edition builds were, I think she becomes more valuable when you can put her in a 4 ship Rebel list where she can dish out the extra dice where necessary. With 3 choices in a list, that covers a lot of ground. Both are solid, but I think Jan is a bit better.

I have wanted a thing with a 3/3/3/(1-2) statline with affordable (can run 4) generics since the dawn of time.

This could be my ship, it even comes prepainted red.

(Yes I know phantons kinda meet the above criteria, i'm in the market for another one now.)

she's always been my last ship to die, if she does. I keep her far enough back that the rest of the list does the work and she stays at range 3. If the enemy goes to dive on her then I got that boost or jam action to get me out of trouble. the 2 focus evade helps her live. That, and for her at least, she has these magical green dice that always roll paint! I kid you not, 7 ships fired on her in one round, the first time I put her in a bad place since 2.0 launched, and she took 1 shield. She then proceeded to make it to the end game and punnished all 7 ships in one way or another.

As my locals put it "Jake touches me inappropriatley while Jan Ors video tapes"

Not my experience in 2.0 at all. The HWK, with the title at least, is a tank. The stack of focus + evade and the ability to boost out of arc at PS 5 while still having a focus from the previous turn means they live well beyond what their stat line would indicate. In all seriousness they are Phantom levels of tanky, (3 hull, 2 shields, focus + evade) just not as good at arc dodging.

this is what I'm working on right now, pretty forgiving to fly. people seem to want to kill sabine which is funny, yea go focus on the mando chick while luke puts it up your butt.

Took torps off because I find I just boost his primary anyways, put seismic on for that "oh I forgot you had those" clutch moments. Had Juke on Jan, but didn't proc in the end game as much as I wanted... still undecided.
