I actually like saw pilot with magva and tactical officer. Optional dead mans switch for the memes, but it can hit reasonably well and provide support too.

That looks really fun. I might have to try it.

I'm all-in on the second edition format. Conversion kits are a crutch.

wanted to note the same thing - as far as I can tell we enjoy pretty much everything the exact opposite of everything about xwing, and think about it entirely backwards

I really appreciate t he perspective.

pretty sure we're all about to be whisper/defender players the whole time. I found where to stack tokens, and it's imperials!

So I wanted to echo the first thing (ironic I'm aware)

Is third edition when imperial players learn consequences for being in arc?

It feels a little bit like when Imperial Vets rolled out, except no Jumpmasters arrived to spoil the dream.

'things die faster in second edition' -people not flying defenders.

Or jax or o leader...

Just Teroch, waiting

Any tips on how to fly Expert Handling/Proton Bomb Norra? I feel like sinking more points isn't the best, but the only strategy I can think of is to jam her in, drop the bomb, turn around and repeat.

I mean, the goal is just to 2-turn her in the middle of formations until they scatter like cockroaches (which is pretty much instantly).

Also, r4, not expert handling.

Guess R4 is to open up more options when you get stressed? Worth it to add a turrent?

I dont bring norra for her attacks - I prefer to keep her light.

And yes - you want the blue turns to be able to remove stress from reload or BR (if needed).

Thanks! I really liked the suggestion of a U-Wing mentioned above - trying to find a good third for Luke/Norra in a Wave 1 list.

The whole Second Edition vs. Extended stuff has me in a malaise. I already wasn't enamored with Extended when we didn't even know what it was actually called and I was just going to play Rebels. I see why Extended appeals to a lot of people, it's a massive playground. Me, I just feel paralyzed by the openness and that I'll have no hope to really explore a lot of ships/builds if building towards Extended...a ton of stuff will just be skipped over.

Then I bought into Imperials.

Then the game officially released and I bought into Scum (a little).

Now, I feel like I'm swimming in Second Edition format options.

Soooo, I'm thinking I'll still play only Second Edition stuff and see how well it competes...?

scum second edition competes WAAAAY better than the other two factions (minus a raw tie swarm).

I also know I'm going to play Resistance and probably play that the majority of the time on release. And there's a very good chance I'll buy into First Order. Eff.

That's what I've found as well.

I personally prefer extended because I love to bring something new everytime. However the fun on Second Edition is that the limited format leads to a lot of fine tuning. It's like have a Tupperware of Legos vs a bin of Legos. You can build a lot from the bin, but the box forces you to maximize your pieces and your results will prettier.

Very much on the extended side here. Feels like there are maybe 4 lists with minor variations in 2nd edition and I've played/played against all of them several times at this point. Whereas I haven't had anywhere close to a repeat with extended. Played/played against a different list every single time, it's been way more fun.

How common do you think Teroch is going to be? I don't think I've seen anyone field him yet, maybe because Boba is so solid, and Fenn is the natural counterpart there.

So initially? I don't think he'll be super common.

But the same logic applies here as to the last time he was incredibly good - if targets become hard and stack tokens, teroch's your man.

If I start seeing defenders lawling around the board, and reinforce tokens loling at my list, Teroch is going to enter the arena, and he's *&!@ed.

It's even in his name: TEroCH is a Tech pilot for certain metas.

Yeah, I get that and I also like the variety of stuff I face. I disagree on the estimation of 4 lists across all three (current) factions for Second Edition format, though. Imperials seem pretty limited, but there’s a lot of variation and tweaking to be found in both Rebels and Scum. It all may not all be great, but it’s there.

I also have grown even more concerned about new players coming into the fold. I’ve seen a decent amount of returning players, but I’ve not seen a single new player to show up to any of our local game nights/events since release, and I’ve at least popped in for 4-5 of them. It’s very early, though.

We've had new players locally.

And as returning players come out and fill stores to play, other people will see the game and [hopefully] become interested.

At the launch party event I went to last week, the 3-0 player had just bought their core set. Heck another player was borrowing stuff to just check it out.
