Hey, could use some proofreading and stupid questions on these, if anyone has the time: https://imgur.com/a/jne0l

We've been looking at them so long it's all obvious and intuitive at this point, but if you do a quick read, what questions do you have? Doing a "final" editing push.

Page 1

Wording-wise, some of it is quite awkward but the intent is clear.

  • Example: "At the end of each round, the game ends when one player has 100 or more VP."
  • Could be: "The game ends when one player has 100 or more VP at the end of a round." (or something similar)

I like the second point in the obstacles rules... it implies you've got some interesting ideas in store which will make for some very different game play situations.

Objectives:

  • Get rid of the word "may" in "Objectives represented by ship bases are moved with templates and may overlap other ships..." It kinda implies opposite to your meaning... unless of course you want ships sitting on top of each other because "may..." I know this is not what you meant, but well... Aggressor title!! (I'm also dealing with stupid people a bit more than usual today...)
  • Second point "An obstacle placed placed as an objective...." Yeah, you picked up a stutter there or your audio went out while dictating...
  • Third point - GREAT!!!! Awesome! I like it.

@AEIllingworth point tripped me while reading it too...

Page 1 complete

Objective 2: Are you controlling R1-2 open area (ie to R3,) or do enemy ships need to be clear of the R3 band as well? Of course, page 1 says "inside the specified range" on Controlling an Objective so that's my turn to be the stupid person... But am I interpreting the information correctly by thinking inside R3 is beyond R2?

By the by, Objective 4 looks hilarious. Question though - if the transport is an enemy ship, and it's attacked, what happens? It can take damage but there's no hull/shield rating? Am I missing this?

Objective 5 seems like a spinoff of the FFG mission I've played... Fun mission. Forget which set that came with... The setup here and respawning crates makes things a bit more interesting though. I like it.

I think I could fly these based off what I have here... but of course, back to work... Lucky Americans and their holidays...

How picky do you want? On the first page, controlling an objective. There is a colon missing after the header and before the description.

Get unreasonably nit-picky. That's the kind of editing I like :)

And thanks @LagJanson, that's exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for. For Objective 4, it's an enemy ship so Omega Leader/Tarn can target lock it, etc. And to avoid the weird edge case where something that isn't an enemy ship can shoot you. Should add the text "cannot be attacked" or something, I think. Will grab all of that and put it in my editing notes. Thanks!

Hey @Brunas - another thought occurred to me here... Some of these missions seem like they could potentially go pretty long if you've got two players capable of dodging each other at close range... (dun da duunn - Soontir Fel!) What's the time limit for the missions? Straight 75 minutes?

60 minutes actually - they tend to go by VERY quickly, because of the extra points scored by objectives, and because the objective is there you HAVE to engage, even on your opponents terms

Fair. I've just seen the other side of the coin where two guys circle an objective without actually accomplishing anything. Of course, I practically live at the bottom tables, so take it for what it's worth.

Haha, half the interesting bit is balancing around the bottom tables... I know how to deal with people being rational actors and doing things that make sense, it's when people start doing weird things that it starts to get interesting! It's important that it's fun, more so than it be balanced, though ideally we're hitting both.

More seriously, the hour limit has been about right for the test games across most levels for now - granted, the level of play at our local league even at the lower end is probably significantly higher than average, but I guess we'll see!

To be really picky, use of full stops is very inconsistent.

Objective 1, the the second bullet point of the set-up instructions would read better as:

The shuttle must be placed directly facing a neutral board edge.

Objective 2, under the Special Rules I would put none for clarity rather than leaving it blank.

Space issues - not a good reason and should be cleaned up :)

So we can use a U-wing as a shuttle craft right?

Breaking news! U-Wings Possibly to see Time on Table!

Possible Krayt cup mission 4 will let you use any large base as a shuttle... which includes your expertise expansion packs physical model, the U-wing!

Now heres @Brunas with the weather:

a squall line of resistance bombers tonight, a strong chance of launched bombs, a tie silencer should move around 2am and the bombers will be out by sunrise.

I KNOW WHAT'S NOT ON THE RADAR

A SILENCER PREVIEW, IT'S COMING NEVER. WHEN WE GET THE THING ON THE SHELVES IT'S JUST GOING TO SAY TBA ON ALL THE CARDS. LIFE IS SUFFERING.

Thanks @Brunas - In related news, masses of Imperial fans continued rioting today claiming this is just the latest evidence that FFG hates the Empire.

On mission six, does control of the freight persist, or do you have to claim it each round to move it? Also, do the end of round things happen in that order, or can you move it to your deployment zone and remove it the same turn?

Aside from the mission 6 questions, my only beef is mission 2 ending sentences with “of”. I don’t think it makes anything unclear, it just seems awkward. I’m pretty sure you can cut the of off the end of the sentence without losing anything, and it’ll read smoother.

You keep control of it. Also, renaming control to capture/captured, so there won't be overlap there and we can make generic rules for each.

I agree

@LagJanson @AEIllingworth @Major Tom Here's an updated one with the changes you suggested, and also less **** in general. Thanks again, please let me know if I missed anything stupid. These should be dropping next week, hopefully in a different format, these sheets are training wheels Ryan made for us to make changes quickly haha

Under the special rules the shuttle has in mission 4, you have "it's" instead of "its"

@Brunas - Yeah, I'm sure it's fine. When in doubt, ship it out.

Seriously though, I'll try to give it a read tonight. Expecting a busy day at the office.

@Brunas incoming Battlefront 2 meta opinions....

A-Wings and Tri-Droid best interceptors

TIE Interceptor shoots too slow and overheats too fast, just use the TIE Fighter

TIE/SF not really an interceptor, also just use TIE/FO Fighter

I think the star card is called "Elite Pilot" or something that increases your turn rate. Using that on interceptors makes it almost unfair (in a fun way, not broken) for all other ships that aren't interceptors with that star card.
