Hit the teaser trailer. Rekt. Got nervous my earphones weren’t possibly quiet enough for the workplace.

on an Xwing note... TIE Punishers... I haven’t touched mine since it betrayed me so badly the first time I tried it. What munitions might work now? Proton torpedo? Homing missiles?

Both!

Have you heard of the tragedy of the simulator? It's the bomb.

I'm considering going out and buying a TIE Punisher now. I think Redline with Adv Sensors + Proton Torpedoes is the baseline? You get access to a 4 dice, double-modded attack, reactive repositioning at INI 5, a LOT of health and a ship that can both slow roll and move fast. Redline's ability also isn't an action so it bypasses the Adv. Sensors '1 action per activation' limit. That seems like a real bargain for 61 points.

Sad reacts only

I've been told your Gencon reports are wrong and that Supernatural Vader is clearly not an issue and is well balanced in the threat card format. You may now carry on. (bump)

I suppose that is true, from a certain point of view...

from the wrong one, yes.

I think this monstrosity will be what I fly first in 2.0

https://raithos.github.io/?f=Rebel Alliance&d=v4!s!5:125,-1,-1,-1,143:-1:-1:;58:133,32,58,-1:-1:-1:;49:-1,-1,-1,-1,-1:-1:-1:;28:-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

It's bad, and I recognize that. Evaan is a weak choice, sure... But I'm flying Wedge, a Y-Wing, a HWK to test out and a very displeased Wookie. Ok, everything but the Wookie sounds fun, but I needed a good solid source of offense on a budget... It's not like it has a turret or anything.... ;)

No, no, for real, here's the (translated) quote: "Were you at the 2.0 launch tournament at Gencon? The supernatural Vaders were far from invincible... I think (FFG) did a better job balancing the game than you give them credit for."

That player's lived experience can't possibly be wrong, right? ;) I guess a badly flown supernatural Vader looks beatable. And this is why I don't much care for the competitive scene, at least around here. The whole "but it feels right" drives me batty.

It could start an interesting discussion as to what the meta looks like at different end of the player skill spectrum, I guess.

That is... a very bad list.

Seems like a decent way to get a feel for how stuff will fare in 2.0 though.

Also... Naked HWKs are slightly ok and not just a meme now?!? PANIC

Bad is likely understating it.

Edit: Actually I've yet to see a list that feels good for Rebels. I certainly won't be the one to create it.

But... Are they? I want to see them in action before I revise my opinion. Improved, yes... Not sure how much.

Except in the term Krayt dragon, Krayt is an adjective. Like Komodo dragon is a dragon from Komodo island. So is a Krayt dragon from Krayt? Is is Krayt a different type of adjective. Like a leopard seal isn't a leopard. For all we know, a Krayt is what a Krayt Dragon eats.

Leopard seals eat leopards?

No they just wear their fur.

No, but ant lions eat ants.

So the more I think about Redline + Adv. Sensors, the crazier it gets. If you dial in a stop, you can chose the following at INI 5:
focus, acquire lock, stop
boost, acquire lock, stop
barrel roll (red), acquire lock, 2 straight

@drjkel at the 2.0 preview, yes I was able to beat 3 Vaders with Luke & Gray Bomber, but I realize 2 of my opponents didn't know how to fly Vader (I literally explained to one of them how to move Vader one turn) and my last opponent (Ben Keller) knew afterwards how he could've played the game out better in his favor in our much closer game in comparison to my first two opponents. Also it was pretty hilarious to enlighten Ben that Vader can throw 3 dice when he has a Lock on the defending ship. He had been only using 2 dice or cluster missiles in his first 2 games still beating other players. "So Vader can have 4 dice at range 1?!?!?!?!?" ?

In the early stages of 2nd Ed, there will definitely be Vader players that are bad that we can feast on, but a threat level event didn't give me much besides getting used to just seeing Vader on the board.

I think I need a lambda + ciena ree, next to tie advanced, TAP or interceptors

I have to be misunderstanding something because currently I believe that I can coordinate a boost/roll, take a stress to turn 90deg, then reveal a blue maneuver and e.g. take a 1hard. That is a blue k-turn in place. Yes please?!

Edit: for example this because it fits and why does it fit?

Darth Vader (70)
Supernatural Reflexes (12)
Fire-Control System (3)

"Whisper" (52)
Juke (4)
Fire-Control System (3)
Director Krennic (5)

Scarif Base Pilot (41)
Ciena Ree (10)

Total: 200

2. edit: I can't even. So assuming a cloaked Whisper. Decloaks somewhere. SBP coordinates a barrel roll, whisper turns 90°. Then whisper activates and does a blue bank to end up... somewhere. I wouldn't know because what just happened?

3. edit: Or put it next to a striker. How will you possibly guess where I end up when I can stress my reaper and to a BR+90° turn instead of a pre maneuver boost? The possible combinations are crazy!

Edited by GreenDragoon

On that note, tactical officer adds the option of a white coordinate, right? So if you put it on the reaper you can still take the red if you don’t want to aileron the next turn, but take the white if you do want to go fast?

It‘s been a long time since I was this excited for testing new squads!

Another one that fits is SoontirSailIng with Soontir, Inq and LtSai.

Soontir at 70 with Predator, Afterburners and a shield; Inq at 73 with reflexes and an FCS; Sai with Ciena.

So many options to move, and so many actions to be taken!

It's super interesting to see so many "all-ship" builds in this thread.

Do you guys want all ships to be legal for competitive events?

You mean instead of wave 1 only? I'd be fine with either:

Limiting to wave 1 means I can already test, practice and look forward to playing a list in future tournaments with a different meta

Allowing all ships immediately is probably worse for the game overall, but we are not rational and want to have it NOW, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As a side note: How cool is a Gunboat with saturation salvo, FCS and missiles/torpedoes next to Col Jendon? You get mini-zuckuss, you get LRS, you get to reroll 1 die, you get focus, you can even slam away and shoot anyway!

I honestly haven't looked at much outside of wave 1.

I'm not sure how excited I actually am for not-wave 1.
