I know it’s a bit late, but I had a great time at Gen Con Thursday, and thanks to all the podcast hosts who put up with me being a little star-struck. I wish I could have stayed for more of the convention.

Also, 2.0 is pretty fun, but trying to draft it when surrounded by all the podcasters is quite difficult. Thanks for letting me participate in that!

Meeting you was easily one of the highlights of this convention my friend. Keep that VFR life going

Too late for this to be interesting, but I think I have a new idea of 1.0 faction identities. Not theme, mechanic wise.

Imperials maximize the effect of skill differential. Rebels minimize the effect of skill differential.

Token stacking into palp is super skillfull, good call.

Way to completely not understand, Zack.

when a player with a large amount of practice plays a player who is just starting: if both players play Imperial the new player will get absolutely crushed and if both players play rebels the new player will feel like it was more of a game.

We all know the new player is going to lose pretty much every time.

The recent episode feels like classic krayt

‘listen up you ****** *** ************ podcasters and everyone online, you are so wrong‘ ?

Back in Canada and now with a few hours of sleep and a coffee ready to start going through the 2.0 cards seriously for the first time.

Good to meet everyone over the weekend. Loopin’ C was a blast to just let go and be loud.

Finding anything interesting in there? I'm not going to open the ones I picked up until tonight, when my FLGS is going to draft them out (or more likely just decide together what seems fair since all the kits I got still won't even cover one of our collections, so we don't really care and just want to have fun stuff to play with for the next month and a half)

Has anyone found a small base only rebel list that looks fun/interesting?

I stopped and got bored at Luke/Norra+

I never understand anything, i have the high ground.

I'm still not clear where you're aiming, but i don'tthink i agree with using skill floor as a faction identity

I think any fun Rebel squad has to include Arvel with Intimidation.

This is 181 points almost naked:

Arvel Crynyd — A-Wing 36
Intimidation 3
Ship Total: 39
Thane Kyrell — X-Wing 48
Ship Total: 48
"Dutch" Vander — Y-Wing 42
Ship Total: 42
Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 52
Ship Total: 52

I'm looking at 4 X-wings, upgrades not yet determined.

Opened only the Rebel faction so far. Some fun/janky things but nothing that immediately jumps out.

As @Biophysical notes, 4 Xwings looks interesting and it’s what I liked in 1.0 anyway. Lots of fun ideas that are probably inefficient at higher competitive levels.

Edit: Correction - the HWK needs to be flown. For all intents and purpose, it’s a new ship

I agree. The HWK has the most unknowns of all the ships, and it's cheap.

I like the sound of that.

Luke/Wedge/2x Red fits at exactly 200.

I'll have to mess around with variations with more generics from there.

If Leia reduces the difficulty of a red move does it prevent Elusive from recharging?

Probably. Elusive requires you to fully execute a red move - since you get the benefits if a move changes difficulty (like R2 Astro allowing you to remove stress on hard 2s because it reduces their difficulty), it follows that Elusive looks at how hard the move was that you just did, not what is on the dial.

I swear I will smack the first person who tries to pull that on me at the table.

Good question. Pretty sure the answer is yes. Because Elusive says "fully execute a red maneuver", not "reveal a red maneuver."

That's not the only reason Leia isn't competitively viable though...

Why not? She may not be Tier 1, but I think she could have a niche in a squad that has a lot of reds and wants to be able to pull a power move once every three turns.

One interesting effect of the power level going down dramatically is that the opportunity cost of using up a slot is dramatically decreased - having Leia fill a crew slot is much less painful now since it doesn't entail giving up that much since there are so few "must have" crew that she is bumping out. Leia in a HWK swarm seems silly and fun. 6 Rebel Scouts, one with Leia on board is 200 points :)

Picking a generic maneuver, moving after everyone else and dodging arcs reeks of skillful play too.

X-wing isn't about out guessing your opponent in the planning phase, it's about being a higher init in the planning phase.

I'm looking at Kyle Katarn + Luke + ______. Currently looking at the blank to be either a hard hitting ship or a protective ship.
