Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

I think I have a conditional answer to the question of bombs on Strikers.

If the situation is "Han/Dash is popular" the answer is "**** yes Seismic Charges!"

Even if you just have Duchess, getting rid of two useful obstacles to deny Han/Dash bonus garbage for being near rocks is pretty cool. If you have two Strikers, it's a pretty empty field.

Dash/Han is so last week.

Dash/Hera is the new cool and definitely not terrible Rebel list preferred by true pilots.

Unrelated point comparisons below thanks to Reddit. Not sure who put it together but it is helpful.

Woo, called out on the podcast for being an idiot.

In my defense, I didn't say that predator Vader was the most common build, that is clearly VI, but the most common offensive build. Turns out that wasn't true either, but Lone Wolf has the same offensive impact (one reroll) most of the time, so the math is the same.

Haha, actually that wasn't you! There IS someone out there claiming that predator was the most common, and obviously best, talent on 1.0 vader. I won't link it, because we have enough dumpster fires on the forums ?

I don't know if I should be relieved or disappointed.

What Super Vader+ 3-4 ship options are available?

Assuming Supernatural/FCS Vader (85) is stapled to the list, adding in Homers, Prockets, or Afterburners where possible.

  • Vader + Howl + 3x Academy Ties
  • Vader + 4x Crack Black Squad Ties
  • Vader + Jonus + 2x Gamma Bombers
  • Vader + Jonus + 2x Sienar Aggressors
  • Vader + Duchess + 2x Sentinel Strikers
  • Vader + 3x Black Squad Strikers

Taking only 3 ships there are a huge # of pocket ace + 2 generics or support + 2 generics to consider. Trying to stay in the 4 total ship range. At what point do you consider dropping Super Natural Reflexes? Never?

I can't imagine ever. I'd rather have supernatural than a tie fighter

yo, meetup for draft/standing in line. I've been coerced into getting in line at 6 am, who knows if that's actually going to happen. Regardless, I know another krayt faction is getting there at 8, and being able to group up is a good idea. Who all is going? let's start a group message or whatever

Sooo...many...

I'm looking at starting with Vader/Wampa and slotting in various pairings of Howl/Iden/Mauler/Hask/Scourge.

As I said on the saltcast this week, you need three copies in your list. All rocks must die.

In all seriousness, I think seismics are pretty great on Strikers because you're so fast. It's pretty easy to flank into the rocks and drop bombs early into combat.

REKT react when?

I would love to help, but I think I'm going to have to be selfish about my conversion kits from GenCon - gotta bring 'em back home to draft out locally. I really, really, really don't want anyone local playing 1.0 for the next two months. That being said, I would still love to hang out and observe the draft, since we'll be doing a similar thing with my stuff locally when I get home.

I don't think we're all parting out our kits, should just be one set of kits used and all cards returned to the owner. This is more so we have someone at least mildly interesting to stand next to for hours and then can all decamp en mass to start the draft rather than have people trickle in and never actually get it going.

I will probably not be joining the 6AM team simply because doing anything that early violates my deeply held core belief in not doing things that early. But 8AM sounds doable so I'm in for that.

6 AM on Thursday, right? I guess whether I would be there is a moot point anyway, as I'll still be heading to the airport at that time. I didn't book flights until later on Thursday, because I'm mostly just going for the X-Wing tournament and picking up 2.0 stuff eventually. Hopefully they don't somehow sell out on Thursday morning.

Yeah, though I'm willing to bet it's actually 8.

Yep that. Just opening my kits and throwing everything back in the box when we're done. I agree on not doing things that early.

I will likely be the first Krayt to complete the line on Thursday. I will try to locate you there. Krayt shirt to help?

Sounds good - I'll probably have my krayt 5k shirt on or just the normal one.

I've got some Star Wars games in the afternoon, so my grey, "stormtroopers having lunch on a girder" shirt is my day one choice. Plus, I'll have an extra name tag around my neck with familiar online aliases and avatars. If you see me walking by the glorious FFG line, looking lost, with an armload of conversion kits, flag me down. They'll likely be heavy!

Thinking about Ruthless, do you take it on one ship and burn the others, or do you take it on a lot of ships and use when it matters the most?

A Black Squadron Scouts with Ruthless is < 40 points.

You can do it a little cheaper with a Gamma Squadron Ace with Barrage Rockets.

Do you focus on having a ship up in the way to maximize the chances you have to use Ruthless, or you just wait for it to happen?

Just send death fire in with as many ruthless ships as possible to back him up.

LOL!

Imperial Deadman switch.

I will be getting to Gencon early in the morning Thursday but I have to go to will call to get my badge so hopefully I can meet up for the 2.0 draft by 9 am. I will also be on the lookout for Krayts so I can get my JM5K5K shirt.

This sounds hilarious. Ruthless swarm using Deathfire as flying bomb...

Mix in tragedy simulator punisher as necessary.

It's like that scene from The Two Towers where the Uruk Hai are beseiging Helm's Deep and send in that berserker with a torch to light the giant bomb under the walls.

RUTHLESS STRIKERS

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE IN
