Thanks for interviewing Steve Cameron, I want to make sure I understood correctly. Cascade ran the US opens last year aside from Hoth? And they are planning on nine or so in North America, or nine in total and they are running the ones in North America? It was a little unclear if that was for all the system opens or if that was cascade’s share.
I made it to Hoth last year and I’d really like to make one this time around, maybe fight my way from the depths of the salt mines to the entrance, maybe the processing plant of middle tables
Who am I kidding, Im wearing my headphones at work and I’ll probably just listen to it again.

The 8-9 events he mentioned was Cascade Games' share - i.e. those being hosted in the US and (possibly) one in Canada, not including Coruscant (which FFG seems to be handling themselves).

They are planning on nine or so, AND they are running the ones in North America is my understanding. Hoth/Adepticon may be an exception again, but as far as I know they're running ALL of the system opens in NA.
Weird question time, brought up by the not-Krayt preview. Ships with dials previewed get an early competitive advantage due to VASSAL practice. Does it also correlate to later performance? Do we have enough data to even check that? Could there be a conflating variable of good ships being more likely to have their dials shown for some reason?
Im picturing going back through old previews to see if the dial is shown, and then surfing metawing a bit. What would be a cutoff for how far back to go?

I think we start getting meaningful amounts of data for wave 5 onwards in juggler (and therefore meta-wing).
That's a really interesting thought though - I'm willing to bet you're onto something.
Canada has a privately owned and maintained highway.
It is in significantly better condition then any public highway I've encountered. It is also optional.
If people don't want to use it they can take the public highway and spend an extra hour getting to work and wrecking their suspension on the potholes.
It's always interesting to me when people dismiss or laugh off the idea of privately owned infrastructure when there are allready examples of it. And it performs better then a state run equivalent.

America has a privately owned and maintained health care network. Wanna trade?

Yes, but it was built with taxes then leased to a private company... bad example.

It really doesn't. There are so many screwed up aspects to the US healthcare system that are due to odd historical precedent, companies buying influence to shape the market to suit their needs, and government regulation. It's a monstrosity that's worse than a totally public or totally private endeavor. It's the worst of both worlds.

Yes...if it can also be unregulated

Right can you point to any country that has a completely privatized healthcare system that works better than comparable countries with socialized healthcare? How about any country where privatized health care works well?
Completely agree that the US system is an abomination. But there really aren't any good examples of this mythical free market healthcare system. There are on the other hand a lot of good examples of the other.
Same thing with roads. Toll roads are a thing for sure. But they were still built with tax payer funding.

Okay, that’s how far back I can go back. Was VASSAL actually used enough to matter then? I got into the game wave 6ish, but didn’t get competitive until wave 8. I figured VASSAL wouldn’t be popular enough to have an impact until a certain point, but I guess people could proxy on tables too.
I haven’t done any stats in a few years, but I’ll enlist help if it looks like there might be something.
Alright thread, time for a new topic.
If we make North American krayt cup 3 target locks, do we cut California out? Do they count?

Has the FAQ been out long enough for us to start winning by complaining about the re-enforce action yet?

One current example is using the Veterinary or Dental model (in some cases). You go in, find out what your pricing options are for treatment, and make a decision. You can't just port the whole thing into whole body human health care, but actually knowing what health care would cost, and deciding what you need based on cost would be a huge limiter on price inflation. As would a government panel regulating prices. As it stands now, there's no rationing because insurance purchasers want to get the most for their money so they trend toward more care than they would if they were paying for each service.
@Boom Owl - I thoroughly enjoy the graphical representations your responses generally consist of.
