Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

By SaltMaster 5000, in X-Wing

wait... and I mean this seriously- why don’t we just apprehend the “which preview?” thread? It was pretty Krayt like anyways, and it’s been dormant for some time anyways. I’m sure Mu0n would love for it to be taken over. He may even oblige and change the name and all! @Mu0n729

Even if the Krayts are the elves or Gandalf of the forums, the preview thread is the unassuming, unassailable and uninterested Tom Bombadil of this forum.

So it gets cut from the movie and only X-wing fanatics give a second thought about it?

yes

Saw crew is cool, also broken beyond belief.

1-point super Expertise is fine.

Is it in real X-Wing?

Interesting how Rexy and Thane both have the ability to expose damage cards. Have we seen a Scum pilot who can do so too?

Those pilot abilities feel really scummy though and it would a shame if Scum wouldn't get something dirty like this

Oh, it's super not. Now you can run Rey with OT title, C3p0, VI, Engine, Saw- That gives you a PS 10 Rey with full mods- at 57. Ready for Rey Poe? Or Rey Thicc Miranda?

Either way, this lets Rey+Real Wingman fit.

Oh, it’s definitely not okay. My tongue was firmly planted in cheek.

I’m of the opinion that Rey is in the list with Saw crew, but he’s not on her.

I don’t know, the idea of the Empire training their pilots to precision target areas of their opponent’s ships that are already damaged or a Rebel pilot known for his luck seem pretty thematic.

Hah, thanes ability is plot armor, i love it

No, Scum just have infinite (1.0) prockets Fenn Rau.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Random question: if you're playing double defenders (no D title assumed) do you take the ion cannon + Prockets to aim for a backbreaking turn, or do you grab HLC and just never let them be in your bullseye? Juke seems he default EPT in both cases. Prockets seem like it covers most of the strengths of HLC, unless bullseye alignment at Range 3 is a lot easier than I would anticipate.

I like the idea of getting bullseye with the Procket, then the target wanting to roll out to avoid the Procket, which burns an action making Juke work. Feels good, initially. Once some early bodies get cleared, it's a lot tougher to get rid of the Defenders.

That's definitely an option. I'm not sure if I'm ready to let the cat out of the bag. I've not seen this specific archetype played (lately?), and I'm probably going to play it for Store Champs and/or GenCon when I inevitably give up the dream of Rey/Poe.

@Biophysical, @abell19, @Heimdall Ulf....is it worth keeping close to the vest?

Juke & Procket combo does seem very devastating. The link action aces that can reposition and focus should be fine, but then at least it forces a stress on them meaning it's more difficult next turn for them to get guns on you.

Also imagine Valen Rudor. They reposition out of your bullseye, and if you or another friendly ship at range 0-1 get shot at, Rudor can action to reposition and get the bullseye back. As excited as others are for Rexlar or Ryad, I'm really interested in seeing Rudor in the Defender.

People are cowards and won't like a ship that can't reposition and has PS3, it's a good list, but you're probably okay revealing it.

The linked reposition on the interceptors means I will take two of them over three TIEs, and probably two of them over a defender. 36 is very competitive. 40 gets you five with no upgrades, which I’m still not against.

Using Nam-my’s Model, I’d say 40. 41 and I become very hesitant on an initiative 1. Up to 45 and they are still probably worth trying as filler.

Soontir, though? I’d absolutely take him over a base defender. I don’t think I’d go over 80, because you will want to fill a mod slot or two. Upper 70s seems reasonable. (I realize this means I think Vader is super undercosted in the demo lists).

I'm suspecting Vader's seemingly lowish price stems from both 1.) Lack of boost, and 2.) Lack of Evade. He very much seems a brute jouster.

Honestly I want to get to 1 page bigger than the gunboat thread regardless if we can petition the mods to move it back to the main thread.

Back on topic-

Do we forsee any of the 1.0 cards in wave 14 besides Krennic or the X-wing fix (The 3rd and 4th ones...) Being meta-shaping?

Do we even care?

There are still several cards that we have no idea what they are. One is even small ship only, which probably means it's at least somewhat powerful. Remember Expertise in the U-wing.

You’re probably fine revealing it, especially here. Not sure enough people in here care about 1.0 enough for it to matter.

It also means they're probably still in your arc, too.

I love Rexler for historical reasons, and because he's a brute in the 2.0 iteration. I have a feeling that Valen Rudor might be the best one, though. So much nasty when you've got the hit points and action options the Defender does.

He's going to a have a Quickdraw like effect of "I don't want to shoot that".
