Buying acrylics for the first time. S-foils tokens and new 2.0 movement templates.

Not sure why I did the latter. I like my watermelon templates, and it's a shame to retire them just because there is no lines on them

Does anyone know of a place that can 2.0-ify templates?

I'd like to keep my Krayt ones usable.

If I would need to ship them, I could probably do a batch order with some locals.

Applied Perspective in the Minneapolis area has a $5 option to re-engrave first edition templates with the lines:

http://www.appliedperspective.com/acrylic/product-category/x-wing/

That’s the only one I’ve seen so far, and it has been posted a few times in the twin cities Xwing Facebook group.

And sadly it’s worded in a way that implies they update only templates they made

messaging them might be a worthwhile endeavor

Their email is down, according to the website but maybe later

The problem with updating templates is that you need to make really tight and accurate jigs to make it even feasible. So because applied know their own specific measurements they can offer this (even though I don’t believe it is cost effective).

Fundamentally labour + machine time costs just don’t make it financially viable for most producers as they could be using that same time resource to be producing better looking new templates.

And this I understand.

On the other hand-

It doesn't need to be that accurate. Look at the Worlds templates. The line on those is nowhere near the middle.

I went with Buy the Same Token’s First Order set to replace my Black Sun Cog O Two set.

Quick 2.0 question, some friends of mine who play casually were at Expo and played some demo games on the stand. Among the questions they asked was, “do target locks get spent when firing off missiles and torps?” To which they were told, “we didn’t know for sure, but we’re presuming they do.” I thought it had been stated that they do not, but now I’m not certain.

Pretty sure they don’t.

the ordinance we saw was ‘attack (target lock)’, but don’t say to spend the target lock (worded like harpoons).

Have you guys read the AMA? I have to say they sounded very reasonable and in touch with the game and that relied me of some of my 2.0 concerns.

I'm still worried by the whole less modificationa thing, but I guess i cant help with that.

They pretty much confirmed tournaments will have specific restrictions on list building thought, which isnt exactly something I'm looking forward to, especially as I suspect they will have only wave 1-2 events in the first month.

Despite that, it was a satisfying ama

I mean, we will all (have to) try to maximize mods and actions again. That truism didn‘t change from 1.0 to 2.0

Their job is to make it hard to find and costly to use these additional actions and mods.

Then we will have a fun game where listbuilding is not the place to win the match anymore

I mean, the point is that making the correct moves lets you take mod actions. If you choose poorly and have to reposition or rotate arcs or whatever, you get worse shots.

This probably doesnt always apply, but generally it would be the case

Yeah, I get the wording, I guess I was just a little surprised that the guys doing the demos were working it that way.

We already discussed that at lenght in the previous pages, but my concern is that I remember how it was the so called "golden age" xwing when arcs were more common and modifications less widespread. Despite the popoular opinion, i don't remember it fondly.

I can't look forward to play a bulky jousters list against an arcdodging one again...

That's exactly what I'm saying: why playing anything different than efficient jousters who can slow roll and take 0 risks?

I dont really see how this could equate to superior flying, especially now that arcdodging is at the same time harder and more necessary than ever, since you can't even token stack and brace for impact.

But as I said, we have already discussed that at lenght and it's clear I'm in the minority in this regard. I would rather talk about what you guys expect the 2.0 tournament to be, with all the devs talks about format and list building limits

Which tournament do you mean?

im excited for more limited ships, like re-released wave. I’m neutral on ‘battle for yavin’ Stuff because only 2 out of 5 factions qualify

Where are these acrylic S-Foils tokens you speak of?

It should have been a generic tournamentS, not a specific one.

My lazy English stroke again.

I'm actually concerned they might release some kind "battle of yavin" prize kit (or, if not battle of yavin, something like 'only wave 1allowed') because I find the ties vs xwings a terribilyboring and bland matchup.

In fact, if my first xwing game ever didn't involved a triple interceptors list but was actually the suggested core set introductionary game I think I wouldnt have started playing

I’m not concerned, per we, but I’m with you on that - im not interested in that.

im generally uninterested in anything but pure tournament formats, but I’m an outlier.
