(On a different note, maybe Heroes of the Arturi Cluster for a while? Give the designers time to release stuff, and "fix" things. Look guys. This is my round 2. All the frustration people complained about the last few months, that was me in wave 8, i wasn't on a podcast then so no one really cared. The old saying is fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me, the saying doesn't cover a third time because if you get fooled 3 times you're probabaly just dumb. I'd like to imagine that I'm only sometimes dumb

Could these feelings in part be due to OP3 now not going to work for you anymore (as effectively)?

Sorry? But I totally get a list you enjoy that now no longer works anymore. I flew FatTel/ManglerBossk for over a year, and then when Wave 11 hit it just couldn't cut it anymore. I could maybe fly it again now, but I've lost Painbot, and Miranda's highly likely to spring up everywhere until the new meta calms down. Biggs-backed lists are in a spot now.

@catachanninja What would Marbo do? So many of your good lists are just as viable if not more so. Imps didn’t get any better, certainly Scum didn’t. Rex and Low and Co are untouched. Truthfully keeping Biggs might still be right choice anyway. I’ve played you/seen you play... you mitigate damage as is... now you trigger Biggs when you want.

You didn’t ASLAM with Miranda when you ran her. I don’t know what you do with 26 more points... but that’s a pretty soft rewrite. Rebels have like 40 builds in that point cost ballpark. Many of which roll with Miranda and Low just fine.

Everything that threatens your builds is hurt worse.

Just replace Biggs with Stresshog and it will be all fine

To any despairing: seriously, pfft. This is not that meta warping. In 20+ year’s and 7 editions of 40k I’ve seen rule changes that make this look cute and subtle. I’ve learned a few things. Things you already know too...

1) run the new numbers... a few things drop out, but so do some hard counters. It’s amazing how bright the silver lining can be. Your list might have been hurt, but did it’s relative strength change?

2) give all old favorites that are now on the shelf a look see. Even in X-Wing we’ve seen some surprising revivals of things 5+ waves back that got dusted off and wrecked face

3) better play with a familiar list cannot be taken lightly. Your sub-optimal list that might have got mauled with a nerf bat might not be the build anyone’s planning on dealing with anymore. Just because certain combinations are tricky for you now doesn’t mean those combinations thrive in the new meta. Meanwhile you can play your list like a stradivarius. Tweak it and see how well you do in the new jungle.

Back before the ITC, kids, and weekends being largely spoken for, I used to mathhammer and theoryhammer 40k at a reasonably high level. It’s amazing how often small changes adapt an old champ list to a new meta and it’s also remarkable how often in playtesting an oldie, a new gem surfaces and an entirely new list spins out of that process.

I think I am pretty excited. A third of the game has released while Jumpmasters and Sabined k-wings and Attanni were the best things, and now they aren’t.

G-1As, Upsilons, Quadjumpers, U-wings, Strikers all were bad. Now we get to (have to?) go back and check if they are actually bad, or were just bad in comparison. I’m probably not even remembering some ships.

I have to say though, emergency FAQ release episodes? Thanks, Gold Squadron.

Do you think a list like FSR1 or EgoMk2 is irreparably damaged by the FAQ? It seems like these or similar lists are still strong competitors.

Or is it more about seeing vocal complainers get what they've asked for (even if it's possible they weren't wrong)?

Much closer to the latter, I've seen lists i enjoy before get wrecked by game changes, it happens. I even talked on the podcast about how general power creep is probabaly good for the game because it keeps the point of entry lower for new players. The biggs one got me pretty hard because he went from fine and then neccessary until the last faq he became OH MY GOD I HATE PLAYING AGAINST HIM HE RUINS THE GAME like hasn't been here the whole time. People will say they've complained about biggs from the beginning and they're likely liars, unless they took a convenient break after wave 3

What was wave 8 meta and why didn't you like it? I got in after wave 9, basically with the release of Heroes of the Resistance.

I wonder if this was inevitable and planned the moment they released Lowhrick/Selflessness and Re-Enforce?
