MUH TOXINS!
can always buy a new one.
Huh, I figured this Invitational thing would happen over Vassal. I can try to make but NC is a bit of a drive. Appreciate the shoutout btw ![]()

There are groups coming from all over like we said so put out there that you're going and see if you can get a carpool together.
I have the room block reserved too, $80 a night for double beds, just waiting on the link etc.

Or in the spirit of the Mandalore open, don't announce them properly.

Starting immediately (Or even retroactively) and ending when Advanced Slam gets nerfed, it is now a contest to see who can do the best in a tournament with a list comprised of only a single small ship. Prove that your Miranda is the fattest of all!
Prizes will be awarded based on a complex algorithim that combines skill, results, difficulty, memes, and disrespect and definitiely won't be made up as I go or distributed randomly.
Go forth and make a mockery of the MoV system!
OH MY GOD I'M SO BAD AT THIS JESUS CHRIST THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR MAKING ME ANNOUNCE IT ON FACEBOOK I KNEW I'D FORGET THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT

Or I'll send you a mat just for going to a tournament with that and not dropping.
*looks up local tournaments* How large does it need to be? I happen to live in a bit of a dead zone...
Never mind! Apparently I could do this: http://www.backtodials.com/walkerclassic/ Academy Pilot and Bandit squadron here we go!
On a side note, I haven't looked at the main page of the forums in a while and then I did and found out that apparently, this thread is actually super wholesome!

How else were you supposed to channel the spirit of the Mandalore Open, besides posting it on a non-FFG page a week earlier and never addressing it?
If they do announce this nerf on the 26th though, this will all look pretty stupid.
Mandalore announcement when!
Chris has never played a tabletop RPG? Look at this guy, what a loser!
After listening to the latest podcast, here at Foss Central, we have decided that Jarens new nickname is "The Mountain". This, of course, means that Chris has to be Cersei Lannister for Jaren to be his "Champion'. As we foresee no problem with this new paradigm (who doesn't want to be Cersei?) it does, however, raise another conundrum. We can't decide which one of you is Jamie and which one is Tyrion. Your assistance in clearing up this matter would be greatly appreciated.
PS
I Agree
"Jango" Foss
Edited by TrubbleZack is definitely Robert Baratheon. Which also means he has a loveless marriage with Chris.
"A CAPITALIST HORDE NED! IN AN OPEN MARKET!"
Edited by defkhan1OT: excellent point on maybe we should save our ire for playtesters over designers.
Which makes it Gold Squadron’s fault as previously suspected
The ire is correctly placed.
The ire would also greatly reduce if some sort of meaningful faq would get out. Being short-staffed and underpaid and oh woe is they who try so hard becomes a really thin excuse as the YEARS roll on.

Especially the FAQs... I might (MIGHT) be convinced to pardon some of their product development, and I see the point on playtesters, the devs have too many hats, not enough time (as grad student/college instructor/high school instructor/dad/coach/gaming club chief sponsor/husband/transportation specialist for dance/gymnastics/drama/swim team/rock climbing/kung fu etc I can appreciate that)... but the support (lack there of) and game balance post release is not on anyone but them. It would take minimal effort to go to their top tournament organizers and top players, poll them on various units and balance issues, give them a locked forum, and make community driven tweaks to the game engine and balance paradigm... and minimal effort to put out an article every other week too.

I can’t agree with this. Oh, the forum questions direct to FFG official response would be great and I know other small game companies have used this but this doesn’t guarantee a quick response on unusual interactions either. Response times varied depending on research times (further unintended interactions based on the answer...)

That is essentially what they have now also. And the forum is a **** show from what I have heard. Allows whatever playtester is loudest to have the most sway, not the playtester who knows the most about the game.
Not necessarily the format that’s at fault (I’ve been in tester forums for other companies) it’s how they use and gather data from it (and who is allowed in it).
The one I liked the best didn’t go off of threads, but narrowly timed surveys after thread discussion had its time (iirc a week to talk it over and a week to vote... which typically was two weeks of testing and vote on the last day). I won’t say what game it was/is but it typically received good marks for balance (not always), but it used RNG effects along side abilities and we very heavily employed a point cost equation prior to attempting to price specials.
It can work. It just needs to be thoughtfully structured. Designers used our input heavily, but not always, we respected the lead enough that we largely agreed with the final result as did most players.

I really think they should just open up testing on something like Vassal with completely generic card names for a month before sending things to the printer, then just collect data on what people flew and what crushed stuff.
Monitor the builds primarily for ENPE ( Extra Negative Play Experiences ) and try to respond accordingly.
Sure testing needs to take in account multiple waves of unreleased content....but this testing would be more ship specific so they can better identify things like Genius Nym.
Or maybe this is what they already do behind closed doors?

So we're basing what's an NPE solely on "what crushed stuff"? If only there was a recent discussion on a podcast contrasting OP v. NPE on how that's not the case.

Not what I meant to say. Crushed stuff and NPEs are sometimes unrelated.
Basically....I am just really curious about how they identify the "most" negative experiences.
I won't pretend to know how to define that, and your right crushed stuff is certainly not specific enough.

Ok, I agree with this. Leadership and structure is big. Good communication will make a tough project possible. Bad communication makes an easy job a mess.
I fully agree that FFG has room for improvement on the communication side... I’m being nice here... I think a lot of people do overlook that they are working and are busy, but not always on our favourite game.

That game is making them a lot of money and it *may* be shortsighted not to re-invest some of that money it is making into taking good care of it unless they have another big hit that will slide into it's place if it falls.
