So will Defenders have mod slots? They don't need Afterburners, so 8 HP Defenders with Shield Upgrade?

That would be an ideal build, but we haven't seen any way for double tapping so far. I will totally replicate my original pre-title HLC build if they don't get the double-tap though. Except this time they'll have an extra hit point, boost, and Evade on fast moves.

Afterburners gives a free boost after a 3-5 speed maneuver doesn’t it? Still sounds really good to me. You’ll frequently be going that fast anyway, and let’s you boost without wasting your action to be able to focus still. Albeit only a couple times per game

it gives a free boost, 2 times per game, after you do a 3-5 speed move.

Not sure how good it will be on a NuFender.

Really, I can't wait to run Double Defender+Thing (as I will only have 2 Defender dials to start)

The question is what will that (thing) be- Ace? Support Ship? Blocker? Another Defender?

I mean, they gave us an I4 generic- Would you just run Double aces? The named pilots will probably be PS 5, maybe even throw in a 6. I'm not used to them being potentially very good Arc dodgers I guess. I typically ran them as Deltas or Crack Glaives in a "Run n Gun, apply lasers to face" type ship- What would they play like now?

Also, the new dial- 1 banks are now green, gained access to a red 2k. Are any of those changes super significant? You're the defender expert.

Lastly, Vader in a Defender When?

Yah I'm guessing you'll easily be able to fill 200 points with 2 high-initiative defenders.

Too be fair without the app we don't know the stock layout. If gunboat now automatically starts with a cannon upgrade the title still gives you a second one! And even if it doesn't with the app there is always the possibility that they go ahead and make that change at any point they feel like. It's a brave new world.

Yeah, Maarek if they have him, and somebody else *please let there be Rexler in 2.0*.

I don't think the dial changes are game changing, but they are really good. The 1-bank is one of the overall most useful moves, so it being green is great. You won't use the 2k all that often, but its one of those moves that is super useful when you need it.

Historically, Double Defenders can play several different ways, but I can't say how valid they will be now. The pre-title HLC Defenders would try to flank and relied on a pretty substantial initial punch to thin the herd, then closed to range and used the barrel roll for limited arc dodging, then 4kd to start the process over again. Their ideal range was Range 3, where the HLC could crush, but most return attacks gave an extra defense die.

TIE/Ds would often trade about half their hit points to put a bunch of damage and some ion tokens on a target, then used control and positioning to finish the job with reduced fire against them. Their ideal range was Range 1 where they piled on damage like crazy and could effectively dodge woth the barrel roll.

Both types used the Defenders as hybrid jouster/arc dodgers. They would use their high damage potential to force certain enemies off of optimal approaches, but could use their decent pilot skill to sidestep the worst of the a superior jousting squad.

Vader in a Defender, if given double tap with cannons, would -I'm serious- be worth about 200 points. The Force, easy token stack, great dial, double repositioning, 7 hit points supreme PS. Yeah, a host into himself.

Sadly haven't see that one :(. Only maarek I've seen is the advanced. We've also got a shot of Valen Rudor in the defender though (pans up to a red defender model)

That's a pretty good ability in a Defender, at least. They'll be taking a lot of shots, and have lots of good actions to choose from.

Col. Vessery almost seems too good for 2.0. If he's there maybe he just gets a reroll on a friendly locked target.

I wonder if the Tie/D title will be available in any way. I kind of doubt it, but it could be a configuration.

Assuming his ability stays the same, yah. No guarantee there. Especially moving to a new ship (see norra)
