Dare I say I had fun. Like legit my decisions matter I'm actually playing X-wing again fun. I may drop intensity in the future and go with VI and a 2 point bid instead. Give me a better opportunity to do naughty things to Dash's donut and maybe get a bid against the inevitable Miranda matchup and reposition better against her. Bomb lists will absolutely murderizie this. Alpha strike high PS Scum lists probably hurt too. But this is pretty enjoyable.

Having played with the Silencers a good amount now, I actually really like the matchup against alpha strike lists. You load that Focus token early, then you're free to jump from out of range to Range 1 with a 5 straight + Boost (if needed). Even if you eventually get caught and tagged by a missile, you still have all those hit points and Autothrusters.

It was definitely not a common list. I don't have data for the whole field since I was busy playing, but I feel like it wasn't played much.

There also were lots of nym miranda which seems to have a good match up against it if they dont screw up the engage, so maybe also that mattered.

I'm in field of preferring fenn too, but it was argued to me that Ezra does the same thing (being the opponent first target) while costing somewhat less and defending more. I'm not that sold thought

Yeah I went back and read the dedicated thread on the 2 x Silence + Ace thread that you've posted in. I'm torn between the PS4 guys + QD or the PS6 guys + some form of EPT and OL. I actually like OL better in the era of Ghost Fenn. In the couple games I played the hull upgrade on her was absolute clutch. She went probably 6+ rounds clinging on to that hull upgrade and being an absolute terror. I'm not sure I'm sold on intensity. I think trying to boost for the evade is a trap as it's so hard to clear the intensity exhausted with the remaining focus token and then recharge your advanced optics another round. I think I make better decisions *not* banking on having that evade and putting the EPT into a higher PS that works against Dash, gives simultaneous fire to Miranda and also room for a bid against her and Inqy. But you can't complain about the mindgames that QD plays on people.

Needs more reps.

Agreed. They do similar things, but are not quite the same. Both give the ability to shutdown certain modifications on incoming fire... Ezra is a bit tankier, but Fenn provides so many more options for actions. I just had this conversation with a friend actually, but of course he won a small tournament with Ezra and I didn't bother to show up.

The new X-Wings can't come fast enough for me...

Anyone that was waffling on Battletech.... go buy it. buy it now! I haven't sunk this much time into a game since I first started playing X-Wing. It's so good. Very well done, play through the game at your own pace doing side missions. Can be stressful at time, not just in game, but between missions wondering if you're going to be able to bank roll to the next month. Lots of lore to deep dive into if you want, but just enough to be interesting and move along casual players. Not a lot of hand holding for people new to the tactical turn based games or to Battletech, which can introduce some issues.

I've run into very few bugs in the game, a few here and there. It seems to be pretty resource intensive, maybe even has a mem leak. Overwatch doesn't even run my laptop this hot at full settings.

I don't vid-game a lot aside from Overwatch after the fam goes to bed on weekends... but this I've been logging every free second I have!

Thank you! I'm also going to meet with some guys who are still on the demo team for the table top, who I know have this new game already. I may be buying my first full priced game for the computer in years.

I've had my eye on it for a while but am holding off for the moment. There's a pretty massive bug that overloads the video card, pegging even things like a 1080 to 100% all the time, which is why your laptop is running so hot. And I've gotten pretty mixed reviews from my friends that picked it up. Overall consensus seems to be it will probably be good after the 1st expansion comes out and fixes things but unless you're a Battetech nut or starved for things to do then not worth it till then.

It's been making me want to go digging through my storage locker for all my old Batteltech mini's thats for sure. My wife likes the big stompy robot games, we played Mech-Clix a lot when it was out. So maybe I can get her into the Alpha Strike. She has been watching me play this and actually seems interested. So that's a plus!

there was a new Nivida driver that came out. haven't updated to it yet... sometimes those "game ready" drivers cause more issues than they fix. It's an MSI Ghost laptop from 2 years ago, plays Overwatch full settings at 60fps beautifully. so I was surprised at how it struggled with this on default settings full resolution.

Interesting... the general consensus I've been seeing has been very positive. There has been a lot of uproar over some politically correct game decisions (he, she, they in character creator for example) but I haven't read a bad thing yet. Even PC Gamer rated it highly

You know, I've never actually read the Rebels thread. I don't pay for TV so I always have to wait until the DVD release before I see anything. Luckily, I just found Season 4 on eBay so once I get it and binge the season, I can stop worrying about spoilers.

Uhh... given that Rebels S4 isn't released on physical media yet, I'd be a little cautious of that purchase...
