Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

Hey Chris, I'm painting a dumpster fire Bossk, and want to offer it as a bounty reward. I can give it to Andrew Bunn this summer to give to you if you are interested.

What kind of bounty were you planning on sponsoring? I can probably make some Scum Dumpster themed cards to go along with it, make your Dumpster Fire Bossk part of a set.

I hadn't thought of anything good. Something to do with the meta. I plan to have META painted on the side.

I believe in you! it wasn't that hard to create the King of the JumpMaster bounty, you can definitely do better!

Also, for those going to worlds, the bounty is as follows (simplified)--

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you bring 2+ JumpMasters to worlds, you get JumpMaster cards equal to the number of jumps in your list

If you make day 2 with Dengar Pilot in your list, you get 3 cards.

Every time you lose a game to someone that has enough JumpMasters in their list to meet the above, you get a card.

If you win the event with 2+ Jumps and/or Dengar Pilot, you get a crown, custom playmat, and title "King of the JumpMasters".

Bonus if your list is Dengar+Scout(s), as then Dengar will have won every worlds since his release, only jumpmasters will have won worlds, and every jumpmaster pilot will have won worlds.

Hello citizens... I haven't checked this thread like...ever. Care to give me a summary of what should I expect?

I am unsure one can correctly summarize this thread beyond... Maybe... It's a helluva ride.

I’m kinda planning on doing a victory recap once we hit largest thread

Much like the Krayt podcast, it’s probably too long, there are some hidden gems, the noise to content ratio isn’t great, and it is in a very conversational style.

Most of it probably doesn’t age super well, but the parts that do are worth going back for.

Unlike the podcast, the forum doesn’t allow swears.

I somehow expect it does, but I expect you need to be creative and expand upon your foreign linguistics... Swear in another language and it may bypass the censor.

Edit: At least until somebody reports you and you're manually censored...

Tis a silly place with occasional but precious content spikes.

Its okay. You have to occasionally sift through content to get to the good stuff though.

Compound swears sneak past the filter. That's why I have warning points.

How many do you get before it becomes a ban? Can someone ask PGS?

It's basically its own subforum - a subforum where people especially like to hide when the main forum is garbage.

The topics range from complex mathematical analysis of various types of ordnance to programming (see page 8) to X-Wing baby names to completely random off-topic things. You might be surprised at how useful the actually on-topic stuff is. But the true secret is to never ignore the off-topic things - I learn new stuff every day!

Ok don't mean to take us to far off topic...now that I have roughly a 40/60 ratio against Ghost+ I am moving back to thinking about dealing with this little bundle of joy below:

Sheathipede-class Shuttle -- Fenn Rau 20
Adaptability 0
Flight-Assist Astromech 1
Tactician 2

K-wing -- Miranda Doni 29
Twin Laser Turret 6
Extra Munitions 2
Harpoon Missiles 4
C-3PO 3
Bomblet Generator 3
Guidance Chips 0

Auzituck Gunship -- Lowhhrick 28
Draw Their Fire 1
Wookiee Commandos 1

Some general ramblings:

  • I tend to shoot Lowhrick first with 2-3 Missiles or something equivalent
  • Fenn's pilot ability creates havok and it might be worthwhile to just gamble on trying to kill him first?
  • Harpoons are helpful but inconsistent until Fenn is dead
  • If I take Action-Less mods like Expertise or Predator I usually don't have room for 1 of the missiles I think I need to kill Lowhrick
  • Miranda always seems to have a target lock thanks to Coordinate
  • I can fairly consistently attack with at least one of my three ships from outside of Fenn's front/rear arc
  • I inevitably end up jousting it with at least 1 unlucky ship which leads to sadness
  • Don't really have anything in my list that can out-point Miranda as I am not running Kylo Silencer
  • The best I can come up with, without landing huge damage in one turn, is to force it to turn around rocks and go for blocks on Lowhrick
  • Sounds like we will see this without Tactician on Fenn going forward
  • Attacking from the sides helps alot with avoiding the Bomblet on the way out
  • A few times I have tried to play "patiently" against it but end up falling behind to quickly

Archetypes that matchup "ok" against it:

  • Mirror
  • Dash+
  • Ghost+
  • Kylo+
  • Bombs, particularly with Trajectory Simulator
  • Anything with 3x Harpoons
  • Palp Aces maybe since the shuttle can block good
  • Anything that can throw about 12-16 dice in a turn

Has anyone sorted out a way to take this down semi-consistently with 3 small base Imperial or Scum arcs?

That's really awesome! Others already asked, but how do you want to give it out? Dankest option: let the dumpster fire forums decide how to give out a dumpster fire bossk

Question - what is your own list again? I forget, my attention span lasts only as long as a single topic in this place...

Taking on FML, your tactics will have to be different depending on the number of ships you bring. The more ships, the more likely that Fenn is the correct target since Low can only pass a single evade, but has an infinite number of evades if defending himself. Either way, it's not particularly pretty.

No, I haven't spent time mathing anything. I've also not played against this particular evolution of the dreaded Ego lists...

I'm surprised that list is catching on again, after the invitational, but I guess netlisting is more appealing if a Howard wins with it? Do people think Jeremy and Duncan are bad? Shouldn't seeing them run a list make you slightly less likely to net list it? Nothing makes sense anymore.

I think it has more to do with the miranda/low/'X' list hitting a critical mass over the last month or so, broadly.

Echoing @Tlfj200 - Your Ego list never really went away. Others have been tweaking it (badly) for a while trying to figure out the next evolution for months but it's current form has begun replicating in numbers to match the success of others using it. To be fair, they've all been pretty nasty to fly against... Just some have introduced flaws into the list.

Probably fair to assume that Lowhrick/Fenn+ is going to be the defining feature of the Worlds meta.

Its getting the Mynock bump as well since Jeremy talked about it a bit on a recent episode.

Yea people never really stopped using it since last year. They just kinda took a break to try out Gunboats or Timewalk and were a little afraid of Harpoons until Rebel Fenn caught on. Why it gets used less than Ghost+ is beyond me but it might have something to do with the fact that Miranda wants to keep stuff in arc a little bit more than the Ghost does.

I feel anything other than Miranda with those two is likely incorrect. That regen and flexibility that Miranda provides is really essential.

Sure but its a classic scenario where people will just swap Miranda out for Poe to have more fun while they regen as is tradition.

And now our next player, with Low/Fenn/Poe, is stepping up wearing the traditional asparagus hat. Yes, I see that's going to be a problem for our cameras as the hat is so tall it keeps interfering with our picture. I'm not sure I like Poe in there against the TLT fire he's going to face in that Fenn/Lothal list. What do you think his chances are, Bob?

But theres so much room for activities to change the list and make it your own unique contribution to a diverse meta
