Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

I'm currently watching @Tlfj200 argue with people about what the meta of the game is, and it reminds me of a teacher attempting to teach a problem student. The teacher is pointing out facts, and showing tables, and has methodology, but the student only wants to yell about feelings and two data points. Keep fighting the good fight Travis.

Side note: Why are the Krayts the reason the community is toxic? Most of the points are well reasoned, with evidence, and don't alpha a person (Meaning start with ad hominem, because sometimes Krayts respond in kind). But I guess we are the bad ones? Do they understand what toxic means?

The strawman is strong in that thread, arguing with "but muh anecdote!" is also annoying, I couldn't deal with it as long as @Tlfj200 is managing to do it. Having OP confirm no FAQ has really killed any desire to play I had. Might as well keep on with the hearthstone and RTS casts until something new happens in X-Wing, don't need more podcasts about Nymranda and 100 point ace vs Ghost/Fenn.

I'm watching that too... Defeat logic by arguing the definition of the universe.

I wasn't aware that Krayts were the reason the community is toxic. In fact, I'd argue against that... Sure, nobody disrespects quite as much to prove a point... but... yeah, no... I disagree with your statement.

I don't think anyone does. Toxic has been repurposed to mean anyone I disagree with, which basically anyone could have seen coming. Thanks Riot!

They aren't. I think this stems from the Krayt "image" of being ***holes (which they projected to contrast with the rest of the community.) I'm listening through a second time and am amazed by how much quality information is actually presented, all while insisting they are meme-tier ****lords. Listener 4 is fantastic, and I don't understand how they got flack for what was said. Any professional coach or teacher will start by making you honestly evaluate your own skill and start fixing yourself. That was (from my first impression) the gist of Listener 4.

Being a Krayt is all about disrespect. BUT a key component is being equally willing and eager to make fun of yourself as others. It's what separates tongue-in-cheek mocking from actual toxicity.

I'd argue that the Krayts have had the best content when they are not playing whatever game @Brunas decides to strong arm them into playing that day. They are refreshing when the majority of the other podcasts are just regurgitating the same stuff. For a while there was no reason to listen to Gold Squad and Mynocks because it was the same info with different hosts... so I just listened to GSP.

Listener 4 is amazing, and probably the best competitive fan made content for the community, and in the top 3 overall for fan made content in general (Aturi Cluster, Competitive Objective Format being the other two). For them to get flak for L4 is ludicrous. Serious shout out to @Tlfj200 @Brunas Farmer, Zack, Dion... trying to keep the community going making awesome stuff.

"Is ... a crutch?"gate

I think the answer has to be the fallout from the Roanoke intentional draws. When one former world champion throws a Facebook hissy fit and another calls it out as near-fighting words and the whole community loses its mind... wow, it was stellar.

I think you accidentally saw my post out of context. In context, I wasn't calling them toxic. But, I phrased my reasons poorly. These are better ones. I agree. I also could be not understanding the tone of your post. that happens a lot too.

I think they have the best competitive content. However, I think the importance of Shuttle Tyberium should not be discounted. I also think, to some extent, every podcast has a place- even if it is just boosting a local community. Back to Dials is one of the main reasons I played this game, and I still listen, if only to see if I get mentioned in the battle reports that happen sporadically.

The only reason anyone brings X-wing to casual nights anymore is to play with new people and to run campaigns. Not much competitive practice going on here.

Tydirium. Shuttle Tydirium. They certainly do not repeat a lot of other podcasts, since there is so little overlap. That said, I find they are best when they stay in their particular area of expertise. I'm bringing them a Death Star for GenCon, so clearly I harbor them no ill will despite my criticism.

A lot of others though bored me. I won't call'em out simply because it's my tastes, not their presentation. There's a few I like and listen to, the Barons for instance, but the unscripted mess of the Krayts I find entertaining as well as occasionally educational.

I know words! I have the best words! thanks.

Other Breaking news:

- We are now known as the Krayts Krying thread. I propose an addendum to that of "On Krait (With a K, for reasons)"

- We Have 500 pages of Krayt Kontent

- We are Salty (This bit is 100% true. I am secretly the planet Crait in an incredibly convincing disguise)

- We are trolls (I think this was implied, I'm not 100% sure). I think this bit is untrue. I will not deny being a *****er in this forum, but I am not a troll. I do not seek to anger people.

I speel goodeest. (I just stopped trying with that word at one point). I think your criticism of other podcasts is fair, and I have different tastes sometimes, and I think it is great that there are options for everybody (even if my phone doesn't like them).

the Article is somewhat interesting, seeing as I think right now only X-wing is in a burn-it-all-down state.

I keep forgetting about the Shuttle. I haven't listened to the Barons yet, but mostly because my podcast schedule is full between Krayts, OCX, GSP, Peta Pixel, Overwatch Today, Legion Outriders, Unpodcast, and Chris Collins... man I miss music on my drives.

Barons are solid, they focus a lot on tactics but I have grown so used to chaos that their high degree of organization, structure, and overall quality makes me impatient.

Kessel Run is obviously the best X-Wing podcast.

But we as listeners haven't earned the right to hear more episodes from them.

Well, I'm a troll. I try to trigger people in more subtle ways than to just come out and insult somebody.... See my comment regarding Imperial Assault needing a regen Sabine... Anger is not my goal. Triggering a response is enough.

she does auto damage too doesn't she?

Um... Thank you (meaningfully) about the Listener 4 support.

I actually regret even mentioning it on the podcast. Honestly, the one part of podcasting that still doesn't sink in is that it inherently opens me up more publicly. All of that aside, if it's useful for even one person, it's worth it.

And it's not all altruism - doing that research benefits me as well.

That said, thank you.

No worries! I thought you were asking a question, and was trying to answer. I never intended it as a rebuke.

She does drop bombs, of a sort, as a free 'action.' Once per turn she can chose a nearby space and do a bomb with random damage to everybody adjacent to that space.

for how much they love sabine... they couldn't do some decent art? The destiny card is arguably the only good one...

I actually have this and plan to use it as my Sabine token if I ever play bombs again...

I'll be honest, I bought that statue because I like it too. Disney are doing an infinity toy line, and I think it's bombing... because they get cheaper every time we are in the Disney store... but I was hoping they continue it and do this figure in the toy line too. I like the style they did for Infinity quite a bit.

I think that's very true - honestly, I've never listened to a shuttle tydirium, but it's because I know I'm not their target audience. I'm glad they have a community and they know what that community wants. It certainly isn't us complaining about the competitive metagame, haha.

Well, this is kinda true. The funny thing is we're community trolls, not forum trolls. I'll absolutely do ridiculous things to try and get rules changed and such, but no interested in making any forum mod's life harder dealing with our nonsense.

Disney Infinity was cancelled already :(. I collected most of them, including all the Star Wars figures and play sets, as my kids love playing it. It like Disney meets simpler Minecraft.
