Aggressors still have front arcs. I think fangs are fine in that matchup

I don't think we are.
The last thing we needed in Xwing, Covid, and the world in general is a fast growing apple of discord. And in here we have a couple of boneheads who keep watering and entire tree for lulz. It's really disappointing and frustrating.
On the plus side i learned how to ignore users from mobile. But splitting a community into heated arguments for fun is just sad. Especially now.

"Git gud" includes among other things
-Don't thonkjoust
-Don't diagonal joust, see thonkjoust
-Play Hyperspace
-Don't sit in 4 bullseyes
Of the games that I have seen, I have yet to see someone "thonkjoust" with the possible exception of the Sloane Aggressor list, and this list dismantles almost everything it comes across. I will admit that the current meta encourages folks to "thonkjoust" with generics being as cheap as they are.
Playing Hyperspace does neuter the list some without Crack Shot or Predator, but Treacherous or Intimidation can be taken as decent supplements. So Hyperspace doesn't save you.
As for not sitting in four bullseyes, there are six of them that you largely cannot block. Lower initiatives don't get much say whether they are in bullseye, and high initiatives have to dodge 6 of them.
I'm with Gennatoas. These are hardly constructive suggestions.
I really think we aren’t all that far from agreeing, Nantex are probably too cheap but nothing will change that until points. Their effectiveness is amplified by the fact no one has a strategy to fly against them yet.
I think we split after that point into “everything is terrible” and “it doesn’t matter” depending on how you think the next 4 months is gonna go and stress levels and how serious business x wing is.

Those who don't care could a) try to reduce the anxiety or b) simply shut up. Option c), actively playing arsonist, is clearly the worst idea in this context. Don't you agree?

My disappointment stems from:
- Casual condescension and assumptions. I’ve done it, feel bad about it. It’s not new, though. It’s way less likely to happen after people meet in person.
- “it’s fine”, but no one has proven it’s fine
This is probably not needed, but there are a bunch of possible reactions to things in x wing. Today, we fill in the blank with Nantex.
1. The game will cease to exist because of this.
2. I will stop playing because of this.
3. I will entirely change what I play because of this.
4. I will tweak what I play because of this.
5. I will bring different obstacles because of this.
6. I will think about counter strategies to this.
7. This has no effect on me.
Most people draw no distinctions between 1 and 2 (philosophy argument).
3 includes “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”
5 is on the scale of “I’m bringing clouds because I hate struts” or the one I used, “I’m bringing debris because afterburner Vader and fine-tunes controls”
I think 3, 4, 5, and 6 are all fine reactions to anything and probably where we all fall. My computer didn’t like Corellia much so I’m technically in 1, but in my head I’m a 4 about Nantex.
Most of the argument is against 1 and 7, which I don’t think anyone honestly holds. It’s just internet, and we all are searching for something to do and the endorphin rush of disagreeing in conversation.

I suspect with covid you have the worst possible combination of users - the people who don't care at all, and the people that care the most.

I've been bouncing between these 4 options, but so far nothing has resulted in any success.
You need a point 8: I am resigned to losing most if not all games against Nantex. I will continue to play, but will detest this matchup until this is over.
Ignoring dedicated list building counters to Spamtex (unclear if there really are any, and if they would still hold up against other lists in the meta), there are definitely some strategies to consider beyond "don't thonkjoust" and "Git Gud."
I think that it will be crucial to initially engage at range 3 to plink some damage before the furball.
Much like fangs, these ships will out knife-fight almost anything. Disengage more than you usually would.
Use the obstacles. Either use big rocks to direct nantex traffic into lanes, or utilize gas clouds on the periphery to help dodge the 2 die turret shots.
Blocking is obviously not as good here, but it still helps deny tokens so you can do damage with other ships (barring the inevitable natties).
If you plan on taking lower initiative ships/massed 2 die attacks, you're going to have to accept that the nantex green dice will either make or ruin your day.
I am 4.7.
I would tweak what I play if I thought I had any chance of playing against it... at all... Which I probably don't.
But that tweak would be to just not use 2 or 3 of the worst of my 16 billion different squads on that day. Instead, randomly selecting one I fancied might have a hope but probably not really caring, or knowing, or researching, if it does or doesn't.
So actually, it has barely an effect on me.
The wider shift that relates to these things does though, because the meta response generally leads to a much narrower field. Then my tweak would be choosing from only 2 or 3 of my 16 billion squads on that day. Since, even if I don't face it, every list I do face will be a thing. Which simplifies things but still sucks.
But really, I look at all that above and just shrug. I'll always end up using whatever nonsense I feel like, regardless of anything.
So 7. Doesn't affect me. I only want things to be fixed so the people I meet are happy and not on some trip of utmost seriousness.
Edited by Cuz05Sudden hope that the Nantex thing isn't part of an FFG strategy to try and pre-counter the terribly busted nonsense they're about to surprise us with.
Hey, buy all the new stuff, it's the only thing good enough to compete now.
I mean, they wouldn't, would they?
...no..... everything is wholesome and friendly now.... yay max. Right?

Could some kind soul explain "thonkjoust" as opposed to simply jousting? Googling didn't help. Thanks! ![]()

Quite possibly.

Oh wait. Yeah, nevermind. "

Well, I tried googling for kicks and it tried to find "Thong Joust," which is not necessarily what I'm looking for. I think it means just blindly jousting without thonking whatsoever.

That doesn’t count because that Redline is not an ace.
