I just went to a small tournament and practically every table had a mixture of TIE Defenders and Gunboats. I think everybody was hoping to test their Imperial lists against the field but were instead subjected to endless mirror matches.

But that's the thing, that mirror match is interesting! Ion cannon makes the opponent REALLY sad, and all the ships have arcs! I love it!

I didn't say it was a bad thing! Heck, with these lists everybody has their own style and strategy on how to fly the things so I doubt any two were quite the same.

But on the subject of alternate formats, I'm a big fan of objectives, but find that most players just want 100/6. But I feel a limited format or straight banning is like childproofing, giving the special needs ships a chance to show themselves. I just wish everything was a little more competitive against the meta, but I'm not too upset with where we're currently at.

It's wierd how some metas end up that way, everyone trying the same tech without the actual boogey man present

My local meta has historically had a huge void where the top 1-2 power lists are, with the exception of people who run them that don't knowcehat they're doing.

I had this happen 2 weeks ago where I went to 2 different local stores in back to back days for some XWing when I tried out Brobots. I didn't speak to anyone about what I was taking and one other person per event also showed up with Brobots. I hadn't seen anyone use them in our local meta in at least a year.

Hah, I think there's a huge void of all the top power lists in our local meta. We have some shockingly defined roles among those of us who are active in the community.

And, yeah, most of us don't know what we're doing, no matter what we run.

We've got a few folk who can't make our bigger tournaments each time round who play the power lists for folk to practice against. This time out, they are offering Ghost Fenn, NymRanda and Scout/Assaj.

I must admit, I am loving the impact that a single ship with 5 health is having on the meta. People are really falling into the meta analysis rabbit hole of countering the counter to the counter of Ghost Fenn.

I'm really psyched for the SoS in Birmingham. At 520 players, it will really shake out some statistically relevant data.

As my first 'big' tournament following a 132 man regional, I'm really excited. I'm playing something good, but with no expectation of anything other than participation and enjoyment. It's a bit premature for me to 'expect' cut at a system open

There was one guy that brought the Control Bots, another who brought PTL Mangler + other stuff (I didn't get a good look at it), and I ran traditional HLC CrackStim Bots. So we all had different ideas.

This is the right attitude I find. Go to a tournament, bring something you enjoy playing (and losing) with, without high expectations and just have fun! The problems emerge when the meta manages to penetrate the bottom tables, and you can't just lose for fun.

Also, take a moment to enjoy the front page of the forum. I haven‘t seen it that peacful and happy in a long, long time.

I particularly like the ion disabling cards thing. Seems like it might even be better. Might have to get some people to play-test it with me. It allows people still choose a dial but stops some crazy combos. HLC Dash? No attack this turn, sorry. Miranda? No TLT. Ghost? No TLT. Mostly just gives defenders something they can do against that monster.

@Brunas @Tlfj200 @catachanninja hey guys, is everything ok? Feels like I haven't seen y'all around in a while. It could just be that I've become weirdly dependent on my daily dosage of non-content around here. I should probably go to the doctor and get that checked out...
