That was just an awful game for me. Once i realized i set the rock wrong my brain turned off, kept forgetting who had iniative, it was definitly not my finest hour

I just had an epiphany. The X-wing miniatures game has a decision economy. Normal ships are the free market, the player is free to decide what to attack based on the merits of the situation. Ships like Quickdraw, Dengar, and Thane Tyrell are planned economies, where the government arbitrarily adds extra taxes to elicit a response it deems desirable. Biggs is a communist state, where there is only one product for sale, and that product is produced by the state. With Lowrick, he's like the East German Trabi, it's a crappy car, because that's all the state makes, and you have to wait forever to get one, because there's no competition so the there's no urgency. Like all state run economic systems, it's bad and no fun, and the only people who win are the crooks.

Nah, seriously, at least for me it's just practice. I don't even want to go back and think about how much playtime we put into specific match-ups that we were expecting. Fun fact: the FSR plan for corran is to not draw Nathan in the cut. Whoops! With the meta in flux as much is it is (was?) during Gencon, just having the sheer volumes of games that we did against what we correctly figured the meta would be was a massive advantage.
Also, did you get your car sorted out? I never got a phone call so I figured that was... good?

I did, but they either lied to me or effed up, and long story short, the timing was such that I would have had to bail on elimination rounds even if I hadn't played bad on Friday and taken myself out of the running. So fun times. I got boned by the universe and myself, and like any team game, I can now just blame the other guy.
