What else but costs? She has come down considerable in points. 80 in January 2019, 73 in July, 70 by Wave 6 last winter, and eventually down to 68. Title also down from 5 to 2.

Gosh, didn't realise it was that much. Not saying it isn't warranted, I don't actually know how much the full Rey costs.

Say... what if the Force didn't turn eyes to hits/evades, but turned blanks to eyes? It'd mean a force user with a focus token is incredibly consistent, but how many focus tokens do you have?

Not saying that's what it should be, but it seems like something interesting to think about on a rainy Sunday morning.

Such a version of the force would require a good few changes--Luke doesn't make sense, and the ETA could probably have a white not purple Lock, and the TIE/v1 could get back it's iconic Lock > Evade link...

Yeah, I didn't think it would have been that much either, until I looked at it.

Thanks for the refresher on Rey. I overlooked that her text ability for Force use is independent of the standard usage for flipping an eye. Finn/Rose for a free lock I sorta remembered but had to go back and re-read the cards to sort it again in my head. Not actually playing these lists, sometimes the memory gets fuzzy. Only so much an old brain can retain! Heh.

Huh, alright. Guess I should try Rey out.

The DeathRey build is Finn Rose Korr Sela Title.

Action: take lock.

Engagement, roll 3-4 dice. add blank with Finn. Reroll all eyeballs/blanks. spend force to modify up to 1 blank and/or 2 eyeballs. Spend any remaining blank/eyeballs with rose to reacquire lock.

Next turn sloop to maintain front arc. Boost as necessary.

I thought freelance was the go to versus korr? Jamming helps her survive longer and she doesn't fret too much if she loses a lock.

I think in the Nantex meta, the hope was that rey and colleagues could erase 1 Nantex a turn, which meant freelance wouldn't have an opportunity to trigger. Meanwhile, Korr let's you re-engage with Rey faster and let's you do cheeky things like blue maneuver over a rock consequence free.

Korr means you bring all debris and Yolo anywhere, seen it turn games on a few occasions. I haven't played against Slicer Rey, but I can definitely speak for the freedom Korr offers.

Oh wait, I did have one game against Slicers, but I was using 2x Bounty Hunter, 3x Spacer and dgaf about it. #anecdote

Slicer makes sense if Rey if the closer, but at current points and with all the cheap I5 A-Wings, you really just need her to get position and bang out damage.

Wow, Rey is seeing play? Since when? What changed?

People started bringing her and dash to play against massed bullseye effect ships.

For some reason though, not as many Rebel Falcons, which I personally think was an oversight by the community. Granted, they need to find what else goes in the list with either Han or Leia and nothing is as good as the RZ2s from Resistance that go with Rey. Big ship, big orange, and boost action should've clicked some lightbulbs more though....

2-ship is an option, if Corran, Luke, or Wedge (or a ghost if you're crazy) is more of your jam. You can fit a cheap Thane/Wedge and Jake/Arvel/maybe Blount? in there alongside a slightly thinner Han/Leia/Lando but probably not next to Dash. Massed Z-95s or A-Wings could do the trick if they went down just a touch in points, and Leia or Han+3 Blue Squadron Pilots does fit, albeit with no upgrades.

Things that are fun:

  • i1 Craigs with Sync and Aimbot
  • Lyttan Craig with Sync and Squad Gang
  • Unnecessary Intimidation Sync Rampage Memes
  • Vader with just FCS
  • Also generic v1 Barons
  • 7th Gunner LAAAAT with 3 Prequel Meme Aces
  • Warthog fighting for the noble generic's cause
  • Mal or Hask with Squad FO Theme
  • Kylo or Vonreg or Holo with Mal/Hask and Squad
  • Han Solo in a Millennium Falcon and no upgrades
  • T-65 X-Wings named Luke Skywalker
  • T-65 X-Wings without names
  • HMPs with Dorks and Oops All Target Locks
  • Zam Firespray Mystery Box
  • Tri Fighters (basically everything about them besides the i5 ability)
  • ETA Jedi replacing boring FTC Athersprites
  • Resistance i2 Fireballs and actively incorrect use of the slam action
  • Generic Torrent Squad Friends
  • Syck Fang Swarm

There's plenty of options for two decent friends with the falcon, but i think you'll be unhappy more often than not against most other factions options, especially in extended, barring any wild point swings. There's some decent options in hyperspace, i'm particularly curious to see how some of the large base rebels do with less bullseye nantex floating around.

Also @Boom Owl generic x wings are fun, how dare you exclude them!

The number one list on metawing all last month that wasn't one of the like... 4 Nantex variations was R-AA-Y. So it was relatively mainstream, she just wasn't a 'meta villain' list from my understanding: a list not specifically targeting her could beat her through good play, she was just plain darn strong.

I imagine that if 6 Nantex wasn't a thing. Rey-Wings would have been the meta-villain for people to complain about. It is strong, and very strong in a good players hands.

there might be some sort of weird thing going on where rey was specifically good vs nantex and won't be as good anymore (though I doubt that theory a bit), but rey has been one of the top performing pilots of the season by a very large margin (if nantex were in an S+ tier, rey would be in S tier, in terms of raw performance) and is one of the most common pilots in the meta overall

I wonder this, too. I don't think Rey is specifically good against Nantex, but brought the game more to the realm of 40-60 chance. still favoring the Nantex. But Rey should still be good, but Nantex warped the meta so soundly, that it might have been keeping things that are strong against her away. She is definitely still strong (I'm still taking her to Coruscant) but perhaps the aces that couldn't counter Nantex will show up to outfly her.

I have yet to fly her against Wookiees and that gives me some worry, as she and the A's burn to concentrated fire.

These ideas are kinda why I bought two Republic squad packs to go along with my LAAT—as well as an extra ARC. Warty generics, everywhere. 😎🍺

I think Wedge and Luke are my favorite Rebel ships, and they conveniently leave room for a Falcon, but not a very heavily upgraded one. I find that I'm terrible with Falcons, however, so ignore me.
