Anyhow, I'm oddly not mad about 5x Heroic/Starbid Optics Green RZ-2s. Like, it'd be all Init 3s. If you want words or more orange numbers, you have to ditch the Optics. That's a kind of trade-off I like. Maybe SBS without Optics is strong enough that folks won't care about losing AdvO.

I love the RZ-2, probably my favorite ship. But I can be objective. And it doesn't need to be spammed.

I mean, it's always been comically undercosted compared to other ships in it's class. Now they have an I1 with a significant ability for the same cost as a generic I1, a named I3 with a good ability cheaper than the generic I3, and a spammable upgrade that punishes block attempts, one of the main tools swarms have to fight them.
All that said, I don't believe the sky is falling here, because there are strategies against 5A besides just listbuilding. But all RZ-2s could go up 2-3 points without seriously hurting the chassis.

Honestly I think five rz2s still don’t like Nantex. They can’t trade with six i3s, or they are starting on the back foot. I’m not convinced they are gone yet, though people will bandwagon away from them.
Craig TIE doesn’t like Nantex much either, a red barrel roll and a medium base means you are gonna get bullseyed.
I don’t think people will play Nantex anymore, because they cost more now and must be bad, also leftover stigma. But I still rate them quite highly.
edit: and I still have no good sense of when people are talking hyperspace or extended. I still think about hyperspace first, so I double take when some mentions Wookiees.

I think I'm more worried about yet another I5 and the massive bench of pilots to spam than the Starbird.

But this is a good point. SBS kind of makes the pocket-aces of ReyAA into semi-support ships, too. Kind of a nice boost to an already playable list for a single point.

I know nantex sucked up a lot of oxygen, but Rey lists have become one of the best performing lists and the single most common list in extended!

Now that Nantexes are diminished in their threat level. All of those who argued that Nanatexes were horrible for the game because they made it super hard to play mid/low initiative ships can justifiably turn their ire against RZ2s. 5 ships that can fight while arc dodging, are difficult to block, and have a very high initative average are just the thing that noble non i5/i6 ships need the community to be vigilant about.

Who could have foreseen that people would hate boosting turrets that consistently get full hits and can now reliably strain their opponent with little to no opportunity cost?
Ironically the saving grace is that SBS is easier to trigger at low initiative, and players famously hate little orange.
