I have no idea where bids should be, but I do think there's point with a list where adding anything else is either (maybe unnecessary/unreliable?) anti-meta tech or filler nonsense because you believe in your ability to outplay those moving after you. (most of us are wrong on that account)

Predator and Crack Shot only work for primary attacks, so no help with Prockets, which is the only time I'd consider diving into a risky situation with those A-Wings to shoot. Hunting bullseye too much even for the procket is rife with peril, I'd disregard it entirely for a primary attack.

Elusive...doing a red maneuver with an RZ-2 A-Wing should be a rare occurrence that it's a thing of legend...whispered about in dark corners of game stores, but no one can claim to have seen it in person.

Two changes ago, FFG effectively said, "You know what, high-Init ships with passive mods are fine with us. What we're going to do is let you have lots of low-Init ships, and see if those can compete."

And then they immediately undercut that with the Nantex, whose I4 and two talent slots (arguably) drives all the other generic spam away from the table, and necessitates high-Init and passive mods to deal with. (Keep in mind that I haven't played with or against the Nantex since they were nuked way back when. This is just what it looks like to me.)

It was a weird decision.

Why can't it be a balancing move?

This part I totally agree with, FFG seems to have realized that every faction (except CIS, for now) can and does fly three high init high reposition passive mod aces so any concerns about "spam" are out the window. Like if we can spam aces, we might as well be allowed to spam other stuff too, hence various break points (5 X-Wings, 8 TIE FOs, 5 TIE Reapers, 6 TIE Interceptors, whatever you like to point to). The problem is there's a second half to that sentence. When they said "let's see if those can compete", the answer was a resounding no. It's not a fair trade. Spamming the same kind of generic is a lot less helpful than spamming oops all aces.

I'm not sure I get this. I think you need to try playing some low init stuff against Nantexans? blocking them actually really matters, and if you spread out you can deny them getting bullseye on the same target at once. I am unironically much more comfortable playing against them with my generic dudes than my aces.

This feels less like a "Shake up the meta" choice and more like a "Oops, all Phantoms" choice. More than likely, it was something that they didn't have optics on, and it slipped through the cracks. It's going to shake up the meta for certain, but so far, the immediate shakeup seems to be "go back to high orange and purple numbers".

I think noting that points are a way to churn meta and not an objective value of a ship is the correct take.

Depends on how many are taken. If 4 of 16 make it, it is worth noting. If 4 of 6 make it, it is definitely worth noting. If 4 of 3 make it, it is... unpossible.

There were 40ish Phantoms in the top 23 cut at Adepticon 2019, IIRC, which was a good indicator of something being amiss.

It's funny that you say that when the past half year has seen unprecedented 44% generics, up from 32% last year . Squads with no unique at all increased from 7% to 12% - almost doubled compared to April last year. Mainly scum, imperial and FO, total 89 squads out of 745 lists. (space jam events + corellia)
