Suppose some other rule (whatever, details unimportant) limited TIE Defenders to only being two per list. How much should the Init 1 Delta Defender cost?

My actual answer was 68 or more.
Defenders even with a limited pip are still just kinda unfortunately designed and feel out of place for 2.0 (although Boba/Kylo/Jedi maybe invalidate that). Ships whose party trick boils down to "be ultra durable against 2-3+ shots" have a really narrow design space to work with and it limits archetype flexibility and in game strategy. Named defenders like Rex inhabit that space to. The win condition is just not particularly interesting and the durability more or less drives them into a corner where their price will remain high.

The real issue is full throttle’s design on a 3 agi ship. If they had moved to a non-recurring charge token instead, or a flippable config to limit it to at least every other round, you could price defenders cheaper.
Alternatively, if defenders only had 2 greens, they could be a much more interesting ship.

3 greens with no full throttle is preferable to 2 greens with full throttle IMO
full throttle is pretty boring game design

The N1 is for sure more tolerable but I tend to agree that its not the most interesting mechanic in general. I like the concept of speed dependent abilities but I wish it did something besides add an evade. Not sure what though...

I do like some of the weird abilities in the game, but I'd rather the TIE/d just be a normal, usable ship that doesn't break the game too much and not have to cost half your squad.

After you execute a speed 3-5 maneuver....you must perform a barrel roll. Something like that is what I would have done. I really like this ship and wish it didnt just add evades... 😢
