Also, I think it's...odd...that FennFangFangFang is such a thing, but PoeXXX isn't.

Maybe because the best build (BB Astro's) isn't in hyperspace?

Something which I think is cool about PoeXXX is I feel you can trade him if it's a good trade,

That was my takeaway from watching your games at Missouriclorian II. I saw you trade Poe for what I think was Soontir and some damage on a Lambda, and I thought, "This isn't bad at all, he's still got 3 decently maneuverable 3 die 7 health ships left."

I know I don't, but I know that if everything becomes something similar to that, I will get bored. Like when everything was 4 Phantoms or Rebel Beef, I got bored.

ships that can move sideways or just not move, and ships that can kturn without consequences and force unwinnable trades with initiative, are ignoring the fundamentally difficult aspects of decision-making that 5X bases games are built around

The games are also a bit more frustrating because dice gain a comparatively larger impact. It is unfair if the underdog wins

this is implicit pro-force propaganda and I'm not about to let it slip by unnoticed 👀

dice variance is your friend and the game is better while it exists (although your personal incentive is to mitigate variance, therein lies half the gameplay, and resolving variance via listbuilding not only makes it difficult for the underdog to ever win - a bad thing that we truly, genuinely do not want if we want xwing to be even reasonably popular and playable - but also guts the actual game's gameplay itself)

What, no. Not at all. Passive mods are the great satan. Action dependent mods, blockable and preventable, are fine.

I agree that variance makes the game more accessible. But we also want consistency. Don't get me wrong, we have that more than enough. But it's once more a middle ground for me. Focus evade evade force Whisper is too much. 5X vs FOcho is on the low side where variance has a bit too much of an impact.

On some level, Fort Upgrade loves upgrades because discussing the game and visualizing board states is hard. It's much easier to rattle off combinations of words that get you closer to the ideal game of solitaire that people seem to desire.

5X vs 8FO is the Great Satan because you can't compare words and declare a winner.

Almost as hard as nuance, huh.

It's much easier to tie some straw men to windmills and run at those.

Trying to think of lists/ships that accurately represent the "ranges" here. I am somewhere in the 5-15 Range near Snoke.

I guess Boba Fett and Trip Aces with Jousting Upgrades are in the 25-30 Range, with Fat Han or Ghost Fenn at 37.

Hyperbole avoided.

I suspect most people are Snokes Legs.

Real talk, I wish Quickbuild was a bit (okay, a lot) more balanced because I think the format has a ton of potential.

Sure, you can burners SLAM, but the gunboat is way more survivable. Take the ion config and SLAM focus 4 lyfe

With Mario Kart pick ups, everyone can SLAM.

Run it with a jamming beam so you can yell "come on and slam, welcome to the jam" all game.
