That math messed me up in statistics class. If you have a test that is 99% accurate and a disease that affects 1/1000 people, then test 1,000,000 people:
1000 true illness, approx 10 test negative.
10000 false positives.
So even if you test positive you only have about a ~10% chance to actually have it, but testing negative is pretty darn safe.

This was something that really changed for me in 2.0. In first edition this was definitely the case, I had very clear touchpoints at certain price points and had specific highlights at certain values (Omega Leader at 26, Soontir at 34, Inquisitor at 30, etc)., and these would sort of form my rough thresholds for what I would consider a "pocket ace" vs an actual ace vs whatever.
With second edition, I just find between the sheer number of ships and the changing price values, I don't have that intuitive sense anymore and I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what my top three builds for X points are anymore.

Truth. I know my favored Guri build costs 108 points, and Vader costs 75, but other than that? ***shrug***

Varies by faction and usually revolves around some piece that is "cheap" compared to a bunch of things within 5 pts or more above or below it.
- Resistance: 36-40
- First Order: 36
- Scum: 86
- Rebels: 62
- Empire: 42
- CIS: 20
- Republic: 48-52
My actual favorite point range is 25-33 and 76-83 though.

80 + 30 * 4 = 200

This list is super fun. Thanks HYPErspace.

Organize as many events as you want, but not those with official prize support
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Is nobody concerned that the massive shift to online solutions forces FFGs hand? Or Asmodee/Disney? Someone will think it's a bad idea. The intellectual property guidelines from a year ago call out TTS and vassal. And yet I see stuff like "don't worry about the store champ, we'll do it online".

If by organizing online we mean doing signups/registration and reporting of W/L and MOV, that seems fine. Running any official FFG tourneys via Vassal, TTS, or FlyCasual is playing with the fire that is Disney legal. Keep any online tourneys 100% unofficial and fan-based, and I think we should be fine.

Yes, I agree. I've see at least one facebook post where they advertised that their official store champ will be held on TTS or vassal. That strikes me as a very bad idea.
I've been playing a ton online, and it caused me to buy additional ships. I honestly believe that FFG profits from the availability of these tools, or at least doesn't lose money with them. I've played more online games than non-tournament offline games. I just say that to emphasize that I really love the fact that we have them available. I'd like to keep it that way...

I don't think they're dumb enough to crack down with current events. They're probably just happy that people are still excited enough to keep playing their toy space ships. Might be a different story after all of this is over-ish if people are still favoring online outlets and not buying anything, but for the time being, it'd be a major sacrifice of community good will to crack down.

Disney employs a legal department that actively looks around the internet for infringements. In the past it’s gone after ridiculously petty things for which Disney as a company has needed to apologize for. Don’t bet on the virus shutting things down, plenty of companies are still running business as usual... (and demanding we show up to the office)

But seriously, soon, it won't matter if those businesses want to shut down or not
Played my first game with CIS swarm. Uh... that was a pretty comfortable win... not even the best list, but that was much easier to play than expected. The sloane swarm is way harder. The lack of slow banks was a bit annoying, but those close kturns and talons, and ta175 was a bit too easy
Forget the above. What I wanted to say: I've always been a Separatist player. Favorite faction, favorite ships, I've not played anything else in 12 months, at least!

did you expect CIS to rely on an entirely different skillset than any other swarm?
CIS players take showers the same as the rest of you, first we get nice and wet, and then we make a killbox

I don't know, I expected... something. But it's just flat out easier. Keep the 2straight off the obstacle in mind, and that you should actually hit it. That's pretty much it? Maybe on top pay half a second attention which calculate you're spending.

blue 2 hards with roll _> calculate is nature's 2 bank
More seriously though, here's how I play on vassal: I have a folder with bookmarks for 6 lists from 6 factions (sorry republic). Then I roll a d6 and take that list. 2 are extended (FO/Imp), 4 hyperspace. Actually, I just had 2 more ideas I want to add, then I'm on 3 extended and 5 hyperspace.

Hit the random button in YASB, you coward! 😛

It's more that I genuinely can't decide on a list, but yeah, at this point I might as well hit random
