Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

By SaltMaster 5000, in X-Wing

When the Kray Cup is going to be? Will it be covered by Dion or other streamers?

We just had the Italian Team Championship with 115 players on 23 teams, which followed XTC rules and was extended. Having just played there I can't really imagine a tournament of 4 players per team, so I'm looking forward to catch up some nice games and to hear your after action opinion.

I finally had a 2.0 tournament where I had fun from start to finish, which at this point I wasn't expecting to be even possible. The fact my team won it and I ended up 7-1 might have something to do with it but I think it was mostly that team tournament are freaking better than single ones.

Based on the tainted experience of this extended tournament I expect resistance beef lists will perform pretty well at krayts, especially if people start to run them at ps4 to be able to ps kill other generics will still cheating dice with heroics. For similar reasons, ps 3 droids might be a better call than vultures

From my play so far, i've found that i4 is a pretty good place to be, you want an ancillary reason (like a good pilot talent) to deliberately go to 3. I was really excited about jake jek arvel and two reds because of the ps advantage it offered me against other beef, while still being beef. After a bunch of games though, it got really bullied by i4 fangs, and really anything that could passively modify it's defense dice across multiple attacks a turn, and I wasn't finding a ton of value from leaving two extra 3 dice attacks at home, even while consistently getting Arvel blocks off. Sadly Arvel and 3 reds is 201 because ffg hates fun, but i'd be willing to try that. My meta is super light on beef / low i efficiency though, so your mileage may vary.

Also, Krayt cup will be on march 14th this year.

Yep, March 13-15th like Zack said, and Dion is streaming it for us. Not sure what you mean by can't imagine a tournament of 4 players per team - was the team size of XTC notably bigger?

If only there was another xwing a point cheaper than a red

Having 5 players instead of 4 isn't notably bigger, but it's the incredibly different pairing system that tingles my curiosity.

I really like the 5 players xtc pairings to the point I'd want to try with 7 (imagine how bad matchup would the poor soul launched first get!)

Are you guys going to publish lists beforehand? I need to find a team to support

Would love to see 7 man teams.... All factions must be represented!

Vader is pretty good

Truly unknowable.

I finally put fifth bro+homings on the table, lol

Darth Vader (67), Passive Sensors (3), Afterburners (6)

“Redline” (52), Trajectory Simulator (6), Diamond-Boron Missiles (6), Proton Bombs (5), Delayed Fuses (1)

Fifth Brother (42), Passive Sensors (3), Homing Missiles (5)
Total: 196ImpOrdnanceAces

It was fun - for me. Going after Ric with a 3turn, activating passives and see all hope fade from my opponent..."So, you get at least 2 through and maybe more, or you get hit crit through, right?" It's so nasty, and it caused him to play completely differently.
The other part was DBMs and protons. The list should have plasmas but I thought I had DBMs and explained the card and everything, he set up accordingly, and then we stuck with it... Plasmas would be better, but particularly Redline with the reload+lock combo likes DBMs to setup followup turns.
And third fun part was trajectory + delayed fuses. So annoying! We both know he has to get out of there, and that will cost him an action. Which was easily worth it already in our game.

I don't think it's good, but it is good enough. Really annoying for people flying their ships in blocks. And as we know that's somehow almost everyone ^^

My favorite part of their pairing system is that I don't have to do it.

Finally, people have realized my genius with the Diamond Boron Missiles! They said I was mad! And I totally was, but I was also correct!

Seriously though... I know we've had the discussion already several times, but... People keep flying their ships in blocks for no reason what so ever. DBMs punish that, hard. And even without that, it's very close to the value of a plasma torpedo for fewer points.

But the value of Redline depends too much on the matchup, at least in my hands, so I drop her again. Vader Soontir 5th Bro however... that's fun!

I swear i'm not drunk, just tired ^^

Hey shot in the dark here but I'm looking for a single TF drone card from worlds. Preferably gold but silver maybe okay too. It's really bothering me that my drone swarm has one vanilla pilot card in it, and I can't fit butterbot in for the points...

I figure this crowd might have someone who's trade/sell one to me.

Any chance you will be at Adepticon? I got a silver one you can probably just have.

I have a weird preference for the three with buzz droids being gold, but I picked up five silvers for the full 8 and I’m never going to fly 8 drones again, I’m pretty sure.

Least effort pairing system best effort pairing system!

Oh, gotcha - yeah, it's pretty wildly different. Though I think if you're looking for a more equivalent experience to XTC (which is really competitive in nature, right?) the friday team event/pairing rules are the ones you want, I'd think. That is actually 7 lists, though only 3 get paired every round.

Nope, I won't have the lists until the morning of! Though, you should always just blindly support Team Texas in all things!

If Overwatch League has taught me anything, it's that you shouldn't blindly support any team from Texas...

I don't understand, but I'm angry at the idea of not blindly supporting Texas

I don't follow professional sports much, but if Nam-My has taught me anything it's that "THE HOUSTON <insert team name> WILL WIN THE <insert championship type>" His dedication is only matched by his delusion.

Is the Friday games going to be streamed as well?

I'm not sure what you mean by competitive. Top teams of course went willing to win and tested accordingly. Of course, especially in later rounds and in direct confrontation there was some degree of tension, but all games were played while sharing a laugh.

The heck, we won the tournament but the night before we got wasted up until 5am with other teams.

So if by competitive you mean a tournament played giving all our hearts out while having fun and with an hungover, yes we were competitive.

But I suppose you guys share the same competitiveness at krayt cup, in the end we, like you, were only playing for glory and for the eternal right of rub our win to the face of the other teams

Sad....

Is Nathan eide partecipating? I support his team.

What's this love for Texas? I thought krays were from Carolina, where's your parochialism (is this even a word in English?)?

If they've touched a state, they infect it and claim it as their own.
