With both at 2pts, when would I ever take Fanatical?

People keep putting it on SFs and Silencers, but it was literally made for FOs, so....

Help me out here.

Fanatical SF's are good because unless it's QD it's unlikely they'll get burned down before they can proc it. Silencers seem like they can move over to Trad but I think since their offense is better and they're tankier you want Fanatical.

They have the same hull value.

Feels like a playstyle decision.

Ah! I think, then, that the difference comes in how you fly them. Since I use the gunner SF's I get more utility out of Fanatical with 3-4 die attacks or a double tap, while for my FO's the thinking is that I spam Trad on filler Omegas and dare my opponents to eat crits or spend a focus to turn it off.

Maybe, but R1 shot with 3 dice and focus against tokenless Fenn has 72% of not dealing any damage at all (avarage 0.35 damage). So you need to be R2 with your ships and block him. Still only 0.61 damage per shot with 2 dice + focus. It's hard to kill Fenn with 2 dice primary front arcs.

I'm not sure why you'd assume I'm bringing 2-die front arc guns.

VNs have more blues (+4+5 straight) than fo's. BA's also have that amazing string of speed 1 blues.

I'm getting the vibes that Proud is better for VNs and Barons (arc dodgers), and Fanatical is better for FO's, who are designed to take advantage of Target Locks and just fanatical their Focus (skinny brawlers).

I played a Poe + 4A against quad fangs the other night and...time on target isn't everything. I got r2 shots almost every round but it was like clockwork how the fang alternates between double nattie evades and blanking out. 2 dice butt guns won't consistently kill a fang.

I have a hard time believing anything Resistance will trump 5A for Hyperspace consistency, but time will tell!

Which part is the surprise? Yeah, RZ-2 A-Wings kind of chew up Fangs, but I assume Optics/Heroic when saying that.
