Do you think anyone is going to debate this? At best, I’ve never seen better than a niche use. For 5 minutes I convinced myself that Vermeil with Palp and Deflectors might be viable, but then I came to my senses.

I definitely agree on the second one. I have long hair that needs to be conditioned sometimes but if I don't shampoo it it's a greasy mess.
Republic swarm seems more versatile and definitely seems more fun to me so for my own playstyle I'd disagree with the first statement, but I think a well flown tie swarm can outjoust anything so yeah, you're probably right.

“Trap Card” is the fancy jargon I use to describe a “sinking ship”, basically a card that is bad, or mediocre, or niche , but appears to be good. This could extend to pilots as well (the thane debate, for example).

Pretty good if survival is more important than native offensive mods. Best if lumbering and not going to dodge too many shots. Thus, it's great on Sinker. An argument could be made for it on a Plasma torpedo Jag, but idk.

Except you are spending points and reducing your shields already... those points could have been a shield upgrade for less.

On Jag the idea wouldn't be so much about increasing his durability, but rather encouraging the opponent to shoot the guy next to him so his ability triggers.
But 15 points feels like an awful lot just to get the Plasma bonus effect, given one could just Focus and fire the ARC's primary.

He’s paying five points for -1 shield and converting a focus to hit. It’s a long way to go, when you can just take one hit to activate the same ability. I see what he is going for but I also think both fanatical and Optics is overkill on 2 die ship unless you have a lot of points to burn.

If you stop there, the combo is fine, particularly on FOs who only need to take scratch damage to turn the upgrades on. But investing additional points with AD is getting a bit much.

Sort of. You're focused on the combo being on 1 ship. This is 5 ships with a nearly guaranteed 2+ hit results each from the first engagement onwards without having to rely on the opponent being dumb and spreading fire or the Stress/Lock+Baffle "trick". An edge case to be sure, but it is there.

Right, it's about 94% odds of 2 hits if you got to keep your focus. If you had to spend your focus on defense, you're still 50% for 2 hits. I think this is a worse version of the 5 SFs with Fanatical / Optics, if only because you're starting with 50% of the health of the SF version.
