Also, not to overlook the actual winner for Angled Deflectors: Luke Skywalker. Gets a free force every time you attack him, plus also mitigates the blanks that are his key weakness. Against 3 incoming hits, he'll always take 1, but he's only going to take 2 hits 14% of the time when you can reinforce. If you've got Biggs or a selfless carrier, this could get legit gross.

How do you think Zeta Survivors are doing? If you pay the low price of 11 points, it
- moves you from Init Awful to Init Best
- Gives you an EPT
- Lets you shoot extra times
Ok, but in most FO lists, ok has you be replaced with high aggro for most of the ships.
I guess the same question could be asked about blue vs. Wedge, but the quality gap isn't as extreme.

I worked out the math and posted it to the front page. When you compare the odds of getting a certain number of hits through, it's pretty obvious that there's tremendous value on ships with force. You can definitely take more calculated risks on positioning when you know that the odds of massive hits going through are substantially reduced.
I'd add Anakin, Mace, and Obi-Wan to the list of likely winners, and less so the 2-force Jedi pilots. Unclear whether Vader wants this, mostly because you'd have to forgo afterburners and I'm not prepared to do that yet.
Anakin in Y-Wing also seems like a likely winner.
Edit - In my headsim, I wondered if this would be good on TIE/FOs with fanatical. The answer is... unclear. It's slightly worse than a focus on average, but not terribly so. That hides the fact that you're almost certain to take 1 damage (versus 3 incoming hits) as opposed to a focus, where you only take damage 75% of the time. On the other hand, it works on every shot, and you still get your offensive mod, so if prices are fair then it seems like it might be a meta call.
Double Edit - to clarify, prices on FOs are currently terrible, so it's an easy call against this idea right now. If prices drop enough that I can fit more of these, then it's worth revisiting for at least a moment.
Before your edit, I was going to say 'You are paying ~40 points for a 2/3/3/0 ship with no linked actions'
TIE/FO are all ******* awful and need drastic point reductions. Only Scorch, Midnight (situational) and muse (in some stupid combo) are remotely viable.
The generics need the most help- Why on earth would anyone take an Omega? They cost mother-******* 31.

Null won the US' Top 50 invitational, lol

If it's super cheap on FOs it could be worth it just for the immediate offensive mod of Fanatical. You'd rarely ever even use the reinforce. As you say, it would require a big drop in FO costs anyway.

I promise you Null was not the relevant part of that list. Null could have been an init bid.
Someone legitimately forgot to tell an entire continent that the release date had been postponed, and I just can't deal 😂

Null wrecked me as much as the rest of his list in Top 4.
And in my games with my 4 FO list he puts in work as a distraction and cleaner-upper. Don't underestimate a ps7 ship, even with piddly attack dice.

So many super interesting FO lists open up with across the board point reductions to Tie FOs.
Besides the possibility of Not-Kylo Silencer reductions its probably the thing I am most hopeful for with the adjustment.
Non kylo silencers are just plain interesting. I flew a lone wolf pattern analyzer blackout and actually had more fun then kylo

Took Avenger with a stack of bad named TIE FO pilots (including TN-Tina) and that was hilarious. Actually won a game too.

I feel like it’d be much better to just have Jyn in the list and not lose a shield at the start of the game.

Has one advantage though: Totally self-reliant Luke. Put regen on him so he keeps getting back that one shield too... Totally reliant on points, of course.
I know Luke, Redline, Nym, etc. are all reasons to get excited about the deflectors, but I think this will be rather decent for the Republic ARC. And I'm sure it'll find a way to be useful for Palp and Republic combo jank, but let's take a look at the basic ARC.
An ARC that spends its actions on taking a focus for defense will break after only 4 fully modded 3 die shots on average. Take away a shield and give him a reinforce that for the sake of argument is blocking every shot, and he withstands five and a half fully modded shots! It gets even better when facing 2 dice reroll focus (basic TIE swarm, but unfortunately ignoring Wampa or Gideon), where the expected survival starts from a little over 6 shots to nearly 8 and a half.
Anyone know of an available video showing an ace squad beating rebel beef (via rocks/flying, not dice)? Asking for a friend.

One winning, need to find a good one of losing. Beef doesnt have to bee in a block 4. So the same tactics wont always work.
Edited by Boom Owlwoops posted the wrong 2nd one...
R5TK Would be more useful outside of the Saturation Salvo munitions failsafe Kimogila cluster missile jank if Scum got a ship with both the astromech and the cannon slots. That way, if you have a ship that was going to take tractor beam anyway, such as a ship prepping a high-priority target for the swarm to shoot at, you have the option to BR a friendly ship away if you really messed up.

A local, he is the one that beat me in our March tournament finals (battle report here). The 4U has been doing very well, I'm sure I've mentioned it before. Nice to see that it's not just all of us locally being bad xD. Also, 3 swiss guys in the top18 cut is pretty cool.

Since I lost the in or out game by going final salvo against a 4 phantom, tomorrow I'll post at least the archetypes

One of my teammates lost only to him in Swiss, he said that relatively to the different editions, the uuuu is dengaroo level of nastiness (but he's known to be pretty melodramatic, so take that with a grain of salt)
I know there no rocks which makes this all hypothetical.
Am I missing any other "generic" ways that people play x-wing besides aces players that 100% choose not to play the game and turret aces flying kites?

@Boom Owl I don’t know how good the chart is but it looks useful to me 😅
