I expected that more people would play 5Y because it is 'known' to be better, has a lower barrier, and is easier to play.

But the two are nearly the same. I might be underestimating the barrier for 5Y, or social stigmas, or how much less fun it is and how that's valued. But I thought that regionals are less affected by those and the 'will to win' is more accepted, including list choice.

Having come from MtG, this doesn't really seem to be the case for me in x-wing. Was nym/miranda ever more than ~10% of the field?

Am I wrong for thinking that Supernatural Anakin + ARC-170 (w/ the senate) + 1 is going to be a real list? He seems quite a bit better than SN Kylo.

One example I've found without digging is GhostFenn at 22% of all rebel lists, but I don't have the number about how many rebel lists were played. I think it went as high as 40%, and that would put GhostFenn at 9% overall.

I wouldn't bother having SN on him tbh, 32 points will almost be able to pay for Tiin and r4 on anakin which gives him the ability to choose any 2 speed manouver at i6! I think it will definitely be tried though.

Forget what I said, here is exactly what you want to know:

Those percentages on individual bars are of the whole field, not for the factions! So every 5th list had a sheathipede, and the Ghost was at 11%. And even after the Nym nerf Miranda was at 9%!

But those were the dark times. We just all tend to forget how bad it really was.

So do we think gas clouds will help or hurt a wings? On one hand they become so incredibly tanky behind one, but then their trick shot is also drastically less effective. Idk which will be more impactful.
