In general, I don't think when someone says, "Change my mind", they really mean it. I think they really mean, "Come argue with me" or "Make points which I want to rebuke or ignore".

CHANGE MY MIND. ;)

Hmm...not sure the best react to take here, but I'll give it a go.

The very act of creating new memories and experiences is one way of changing your mind in the literal sense. Even of you go into a debate not expecting your opinion to change, you will at the very least gather new data about what other people think about the topic and your views on it.

Also...the endorphin high from perceiving yourself to have won an argument and confirming your own biases can be a "mind altering" drug?

I'm sorry, you lost me at, "Hello".

Ah! Got a season kit... now to figure out that challenge card thing to see if we’ll even do that. Anybody know?

Kestal is best kept light and is fun for denying heroic or force/evade usage, but a juke Kestal assisted with coordinate (even if inefficient) is silly sauce against a vulture droid with all the calculate/Dooku/evade it could dream of (check attack dice modification steps). If 3 hits are rolled, the only thing that can save the super-defended droid are 2 natty evades, which are not likely even when obstructed (but shouldn't tragedy sim have solve that?). Now Kestal would probably get pummeled and the idea is stupid as well as not Hyperspace legal, but thought experiments are fun.

I'm not sure why you are coordinating to Kestal to dunk on a vulture droid. Can't you just dunk on the vulture by killing it?

Kestal used br>>evade to charge juke. The coordinate gives the focus to charge the pilot ability. Again, silly, not efficient.

This is their write-up of the intent of how it's supposed to work:

Challenge Yourself

One of the highlights of the Season Four Attack Run Kit is the introduction of the new challenge prize—an alternate art version of the Imperial ace, "Howlrunner."

At any point during the season, your tournament organizer can choose to run a Challenge Event, using the special Challenge variant outlined in the squad builder. Because this Challenge variant could do anything from change the list of available ships and pilots to adding or removing upgrade options—even changing certain rules—the Challenge Event offers you the perfect chance to relax, hang out with friends, try new lists, and experiment with different strategies.

At the same time, it's up to your tournament organizer to decide how the season's Challenge Event will run—as a tournament, a casual game night, or even as a single round of X-Wing—just so long as you play it at your local game store and utilize the Challenge variant.

it looks like the "Challenge variant" they are talking about is "Season of Giving" Variant in the FFG app, which seems to be all ships, generic pilots only plus all pilots for ships with Coordinate, all ships gain red coordinate (?)

but really, just do whatever you want

Yeah, @svelok helped me sort through it. At the store that was what I was guessing, the app special events, but me guessing can lead to all sorts of weird things. I was checking to see if anybody knew anything better than what was written on the instruction cards in the pack. Satisfied, I can move on with more important things.

And yeah... The Season of Giving looks... silly? May skip on that one, but it's nice knowing how the proposed method to deal with these things goes. Most likely approach is discuss with the regulars. If the challenge looks like fun, do it on a casual night. If it looks... not... well, we'll do something else and hand them off.

Yeah, I'm glad they are throwing the ideas out there and giving alternate formats an official stamp of encouragement. The exact formats don't super matter, but the fact that FFG is saying "you can play the game in weird ways and that's OK, here's some prizes, and a (clunky) tool set to support it, do what you want man" is fantastic. We have done some weird variants locally in the past and often they are the ones that bring out the larger crowds simply because the more casual players find them less intimidating.

I've been watching the Top 50 matches as Gold Squadron uploads them and I have to say it's some of the best gameplay + commentary I've seen in a while. Nice work Jeremy and Nam-my.

Hope my commentary in the final match of Phil v Andrew was alright :)

Also, talk about a showcase of @phild0. I didn't realized he was on stream for all of the top cut matches. I guess when Phil was already setup at GSP stream and Andrew was already setup on the Echo Base recording table, they just stayed there for top 4.

I don't get why Simeon and subsequently rasta felt insulted thought: yeah one guy said he was just salty because he lost the tournament, but it was basically all the amount of "negativity" he received...

And mind you, I agree with Simeon: hyperspace is very bad right now.

But since then that group has become a race to see which posters could write the most enthusiastic anti-internet bullies post...

The admins thing was dumb to start with, but in this specific case I don't see how are they to blame

I'm not in the UK group, and not interested in being in it.

Separate from any reasons Simeon thinks hyperspace is bad, why do you think it's "very bad right now."?

I ask because, man, krayt cup was a blast, and I saw a lot of good hyperspace lists that felt fun to play against.

Hyperspace may be the best X-Wing has been in a long time. It's rare that I finish a day of tournament play and just want to keep going.

I can't think of any hyperspace game since the point adjustment that I didnt find fun and entertaining.

Same.

KC was the first tournament in years I was actually excited to play more x-wing. After Pax Unplugged, I didn't want to farm hangar bays for tickets.

After playing against 3 Dash/Roraks in a row at PAX Unplugged all i wanted to do was farm tickets for the exact same reason.
