Probably. The celebration likely helps you to remember the good results...

When I seem to be rolling coldly, I like to exclaim "muh dice" and shake my head. When I'm rolling hot, I like to exclaim "muh dice" and throw my hands in the air in celebration. I find that I often am using both cheers roughly equally in each game.

I wonder if there is a psychological reason why I feel like my dice are more average when I cheer my hot dice, even sarcastically.

Another weird quirk the makes people think their dice are cold is that there is one more blank on the defense die. Red dice are more likely to show paint and you are more likely to blank out on defense, so you are going to have more cases of "cold" green dice and people tend to remember being hurt more than hurting others.

I bought the dice app yesterday. I took it to game night. By the end most of us were using it. I'm sorry. I think.

Also seeing people try to 'train' their dice by leaving them rest on crits/evades is hilarious

We know that people are not perfectly rational and that a huge part of this game and others like it is state of mind. Placing your dice paint-up is pleasing psychologically to many.

Blanking out at a key moment *really sucks* and so I begrudge no one changing out dice to illogically offset the sting of it.

And now to a less ambiguous topic:. Rates comparisons.

Assuming your null is that you have fair attack dice, you need to roll a bunch to prove they're not. Calling hits/crits the same thing and counting eyes and blanks as misses, you need the following number of rolls to prove your die isn't fair in either direction (90% power):

75% hits or misses: 38 rolls.

60% hits or misses: 259 rolls

55% hits or misses: 1047 rolls

52.5% hits or misses: 4199 rolls

51% hits or misses: 26265 rolls

So if you *really* care, roll your die 100 to 250 times. If it's between 40 and 60%, it's probably fair.

Blanks also kinda feel worse than unmodified eyeballs for no particular reason

Unless you have Heroic. Then two blanks and one eyeball feel really bad.

Oh, here were the final dice numbers:

Actual : Expected : % Off

Crits: 161223 : 161415 : -.12%

Hits : 485284 : 484245 : +.22%

Focus: 322108 : 322830 : -.22%

Blank : 322705 : 322830 : -.04%

Total rolls: 1,291,320

TL;DR seems fine

edit: the expected values are off by a small number, because a handful of rolls couldn't be parsed, which is why the totals are off by a small amount. I'll double check the values when I get home, just involves rerunning all the parsing which takes a while.

1.0 or 2.0 dice? I wonder if the dice have gotten better over the years.

I've heard about the poor curing and air bubbles from other people who were curious enough to cut open the dice.

My 1.0 dice roll hotter than my 2.0 dice. Well that’s the perception anyway. I was very careful to lock my 2.0 dice away to keep them from my precious.

My locals swear by their 2.0 core set dice.

Don’t you mean used to, since you brought attention to the unholy dice roller app?😜

I hope the dice quality has gone up, but seeing as I found a near perfect 1.0 set of dice, (in my mind anyway), I am very much biased towards not letting these go. No Kylo, you cannot kill this part of the past.

Would a striker with AA and a Red Boost action be broke?

I want a TIE only upgrade that gives you a red boost.

TIE Mck II (Configuration, small ship only): adds Red "Boost" Action.

Can't be used to boost the Defender, not worth taking on a Phantom, really just there to help the Strikers and x1.

Personally, I'd make it a mod slot, so you can't easily combine it with Engine Upgrade, but I like the concept.

RE: Kids and hot dice:

I haven't played against many folks I'd consider kids, but I'm sure that if they're winning, then they've got hot dice. I'm not getting outflown by a kid. Nope. Must be... um... their dice. Yeah. They've got hot dice. 🤣😂

What I want is

I4, 3/3/4/1

44 point EPT Generic.

Focus, Lock, Boost, Roll, Evade

Talent, Tech, Missile

Interceptor dial with 3 banks green

Autothrusters.

Then we can die happy.

So a slightly worse silencer?

With no I5 or I6 pilot and I am in.

It's basically a bigger interceptor/smaller silencer, just with a non-bloated cost. God **** do Silencer generics cost too ******* much.

I could care less about the named pilots in the thing, just give me generics.

That little antenna makes me remember the good times of comm relay.

Facing off against each other or just showing up? I would put it at 4 and take the under for showing up.

I hope it's a lot more so that combo-wing nonsense gets solved and put in a dumpster and set on fire before I have to deal with it at an event I go to which matters. It reminds me of Ghost/Fenn in that, yeah, it can be beat, but it's such a dreadfully boring game wherein no fun is had.

Collision Detector + MG TIEs + Vulture Droids has me concerned about the direction of "obstacles don't matter".

To be clear, the direction of the game will go where ever it does and I'll keep playing it. I'm not interested in being a couch designer and I'll never pretend to have answers to what I consider problems. I'll either play or I won't. Just...concerned obstacles being less impactful could lead to maneuvering being less impactful.
